2 little things I just wanna point out. 1. The whisper bubbles are 1 defined line when earlier they use to be the little dotted ones. Doesn't actually matter if that's how you wanna draw them I just thought I would point it out that they changed. 2. I am not Muslim so this isn't exactly on my part to say but from what I know that hijab women don't typically talk to or stand directly next to men unless need be. Obviously this character isn't married yet, she is wearing a hijab rather than a niqab which niqab wearers tend to follow more "strict" practices and also in the context of a band gig she would have a reason to speak to Charlie. I just wanted to point that out that Muslim women, because of faith, aren't allowed to have deep connections or friendships with men aside from their husbands. Again, not Muslim, not a hijab or niqab wearer and I take it you probably did research when deciding to introduce a Muslim character, just something I wanted to state.

Yes Alice , I love how you are incorporating N&C novella. I know you are going to tweak it because those characters don’t feel the same as the ones in HS but I do like some of the issues in the novella.

I’ve been trying to put my finger on what feels a bit different to me this volume and I think I’ve got it - to me it feels like they’re all starting to really come into their own identities with their style this volume (clothes, hair etc). Like Tara’s hair and top is different to what we see other characters in, Elle looks so Elle, Tao and Aled dress similar yet still distinguishable from each other, Charlie seeming more confident in his clothes, seeing Nick grow up with his choices. Maybe just me but I love, love seeing this. (Also my wee brain finding it hard to believe Nick is old enough now for alcohol 😂).

Oh I can already feel something coming up, when alcohol is included. 😳 It's way harder to hide and control your true feelings, when you're drunk, and them getting drunk will surely happen faster at their age. I could imagine, that finally something will be revealed between one of them, especially between Tao and Elle or Nick and Charlie.

Seems like everyone needs to talk some things out. and why do I find it amusing that its Tara pointing out that Charlie looks hot. Alice really did give us the equivalent of 6 pages today...these panels are the perfect first glimpses into the unfolding story and vibe at The Green Dragon...the detials are amazing and I am so grateful!! I so LOVE how the Paris squad sat at a round booth so we get insight to the myriad of small conversations going on depending on each angle Alice selects. We get: -Aled and Nick whispering behind their pints is so sweet in their subtle-ish way. I love how you can see their mouths and can only imagine that Tao and Elle know they are whispering about them, but are not in a state to worry over it. That tense vibe is clearly obvious., and we can see the concern on Nick's face as soon as he sits down. -Tao and Elle...I love how they are the kind of friends who still show up to support Charlie and the band even though they are in a fight. Elle's keeping herself busy scrolling while Tao stares at his bottle with that BIG empty space between them speaking volumes (and the vertical lines on the booth leather feel so ominous. It's so realistic looking that you just know what scooching closer would sound like, but no one is moving a muscle...not even a glance over. But, neither of Tao nor Elle tend to be afraid of speaking their minds to each other now, so... -Tara sitting in the middle of everyone, worrying over Darcy being late, checking her phone, and also winning at life with her cute topknot hair and sassy sweater ( I mean, just LOOK at how radiant she looks in that 4th panel!). and the way she draws everyone away from their whispers and chilled silence to LOOK AT CHARLIE is just so genuine! It's like she is seeing him in a whole new light...she is seeing the Charlie who is in his bad ass, wonderful era and can't help but exclaim it! -Charlie Spring---I....I'm so proud of him. He is calm, collected, happy and so interactive, he has the perfect drummer outfit with the perfect hair and the perfect dimples, and his stance is just right here with those stars in the background so perfectly placed!, and he exudes self-confidence AND kindness. AND, we get those little white dots around his feet, going up to his drum kit, making me think about that Charlie Spring glowing light that has been glowing all around him so much this whole volume. It's all so perfectly done (if I haven't said that yet, lol). -Nick sees all the above...He sees his perfect, beautiful boyfriend who he keeps falling more in love with everyday. Nick feels all these warm fuzzy feels for Charlie, and sips his pint, and doesn't think about how he has ignored that horrible nightmare about losing Charlie since it happened...

I love how the panels on both this page and the last are resting on top of a main “grounding” scene, where the characters are in a scene that falls outside of a panel. I wonder about the meaning of that because the last few didn’t have that I don’t think. It kind of echoes the feeling of actually being in a noisy pub where you are aware of so many things going on all around you, but also very “in” your own world like the characters are at their round booth. So many cool art styles in this volume with perspective and borders!

I really love these pages where they are out and about in the world - loving the scene setting and backgrounds so much.
