i never felt so seen with how nick is being portrayed… seeing someone you love (not necessarily in a romantic way) grow and become so confident and independent while you feel so stuck in the same place unable to evolve with them. and while you’re SO genuinely happy for them you also feel so bad for yourself at the same time. it’s SO complicated and i’ve always felt bad for feeling this way!! 😭

Is Nick nervous that Charlie might be outgrowing him? Tara is right, he has changed a lot over the past year. Meanwhile Nick feels like he's stuck. He's blushing when he looks at Charlie, but his sad eyes and frown suggest some conflicting emotions going on inside his head. It's alright Nick, everyone grows and develops at their own pace. Charlie won't leave you behind, you can grow together ❤️

Aww, look at Nick's little smile, my heart, and yeah, he really has. Like, if you take everything from the past four along with This Winter and volume five yeah, Charlie has a lot more confidence because one, not only did him getting help and therapy helping but also because how much Nick was there along the way holding his hand, it helped Charlie even more. It's beautiful to see, because you know seeing all the crap Charlie dealt with because of the bullying and everything, but for the first time in his life, he's slowly getting his life actually on track and yeah relapses will happen and bad mental health days will happen as well, but he's finding his balance knowing what works and what doesn't but that's confidence it's so much like warm hug, like that's our boy!! He seems more lighter, freer and happier, he's just showcasing that in his life so far he's okay with going past outside his own comfort zone

Someone clock it on the comments of one of the past pages, but it does look like “he has grown so much now, maybe he doesn’t need me anymore, maybe he can do better than me” type of situations on Nick’s side. Mmmmm I don’t like this, I hope that if this turns out to be a type of La La land (movie 2016) plot situations, hopefully it gets resolved. I can only hope Nick understands is ok to show growth and even, grow apart from each other, it is part of being an individual and finding your own place in the world, doing your own thing and finding your own people. It looks like he feels he is not catching up, adding that to the signs of his low self esteem….i need him to talk to his mom 🫵

Like I said before, Charlie is more confident ❤️‍🩹🥹 He had such a growth , I'm so proud of him 💕 Nick in the other hand looks like he's loosing his confidence a little bit, like , I think he feels like falling behind Charlie... I wonder if Nick gives himself any credit at all for supporting Charlie during his mental health journey. Just as Charlie held Nick's hand as he embraced his sexual identity, Nick was such a pillar of strength for Charlie and it did have a cost to Nick. This is not Charlie's fault, just a factor of Nick's nature and the depth of his love. I hope the two can talk about how Nick can let go of that time and recover as I don't think he has. Charlie and Geoff joked about a couple session but one or two might help. Of course, Nick has other things to work on too. It is just so sad to see a young man so full of potential not be in the head space where he feels that about himself ❤️‍🩹

I love this page. 🌟🌟 The stars around the confident Charlie - along with the stars in Nick's eyes. 🌟🌟 If only Nick could see that his love and support is a large part of what allowed that confidence to grow. Charlie is not outgrowing Nick he growing with Nick -- with his support. Nick's headspace right now is unlikely to make him able to see that though. I love the last large picture of the pub scene and the band -- so many little details to enjoy.

So I have thoughts and some may be a little controversial. First, Charlie looks glowing and I really love to see it. (That smile!) He may have moments that aren't great, but that is what they are moments. I still think a check in with Geoff about all the stresses he has would be good, but that was what it will be a check in, maybe with some tips. And maybe talking about Nick, but maybe not. I'm not too worried about a full relaspe. Now onto Nick. He clearly is so proud of Charlie, and loves him so much. He has changed in terms of not denying who he is and such. However, I feel he hasn't grown as much as he needs to, in order for this relationship to be "forever". We see the start of where forever can start, and he is much more himself in a lot of ways. but Nick needs to know that Charlie is not looking for Nick to be his caregiver, that even though he is much more confident, he loves Nick for who he is, not for how he can help him. He also needs to know himself more.

I see Nick's joy and pride in Charlie, but when Tara mentions how much Charlie has changed over the past year, and how much more confident he is, I see something different in Nick's eyes. In the first panel, I see reflected the fact that Charlie's hotness is the secret that Nick found out first, but in the following panels, when Tara points out how Charlie looks, Nick seems apprehensive that he may soon no longer have Charlie's hotness or coolness to himself.

I was thinking what if Nick is worried he’s not good enough for Charlie? He always felt like Charlie was smarter, more talented, “good at everything”, etc. and saw his value as Charlie’s rock… but now, he might be thinking, if Charlie doesn’t need me anymore, what do I bring to the table?

I agree with Tara, Charlie is so much more confident now! That panel with the close up of Charlie pretty much sums it up...his poise, his curls and dimples just adding to the glow, and that gorgeous SMILE with closed eyes...showing he is reveling in the moment, but instead of looking for affirmation from the audience, he is able to hold it all inside his head, and it's a HAPPY, excited and positive space, and it feels so GOOD to be there (seeing that self-acceptance and empowerment makes me want to scream Fuck yea, Charlie!). I also love the view of Charlie holding his drum sticks...even though they are about to perform, his grip is not squeezing or tight (there's just enough space between his palm and the sticks) from anxious nerves, and his thumb is extended, further suggesting that calm confidence he is clearly exuding (that starry eyed Nick and perceptive Tara are picking up on!) And Nick, bless his sweet heart...if there is one thing that might push Nick to start to actively notice those increasing moments of feeling "off", it's when he thinks about how he might look through Charlie's eyes. For so long, he has felt most himself when he is with Charlie ( and vice versa!), and I think the person Nick most wants to be (and probably is!) is the one he sees reflected back at him via Charlie's eyes. But, if Nick and the Paris squad are starting to see the same Charlie differently, that means that his same Charlie could see them, and by them, I mean NICK, differently too...and what would that mean? His own dad LEFT when he didn't like what he saw at home anymore (as far as Nick has processed). Nick has internalized having his emotions being externally regulated by others since he was young, and this kind of evolved into his people pleasing tendencies, which led him to being a bit less autonomous and less likely to confidently answer, "Who AM I?" And tonight, seeing his hot, rockstar drummer boyfriend "elevated" on a stage at a real venue, with others pointing out Charlie's very real and growing awesomeness that Nick so celebrates, loves, and feels so proud of Charlie for having, also makes his own uncertainty and anxiety about how to answer "who am I" come back up, even if just under the surface where emotions can get muddled and come out masked as other emotions (I still don't believe Nick can articulate what his anxiety stems from yet, but I do know it can't feel good inside his precious golden retriever heart). Worse, no matter what WE the fandom see, or Charlie sees, it's getting more and more evident that NICK needs to dig deep inside HIS head and heart and memories before he can see too... Cue the music, Queer Intentions. My heart is hurting, and I need distracting!

I see Tara's observation about Charlie's confidence over the year being an acknowledgement that almost exactly a year ago Charlie came out of hospital and was at his lowest. She's noting the growth in him in that time and how immense it has been. Basically she's noticing how much work he's put in to himself. That's Charlie's strength: he just keeps trying, even when it's hard, to be his best self and try doing things that scare him but which will hopefully lead to something he wants. He's always been hopeful even when his brain is telling him he shouldn't be. It's no wonder he's attracted such a good group of friends.

Nick is clearly star struck by Charlie, as we can see from the literal stars in his eyes, but the focus on the so from Tara feels like its also nagging at Nick, but not in the same way it is with Tara or Aled, who seem to be deeply impressed with how much better Charlie is doing this year as opposed to last year. Whereas the so again seems to highlight to Nick a feeling of being lost and almost left behind, as Charlie has changed, but nick is standing still, not able to be his own thing without Charlie being added on. (I.e. your Nick and Charlie!) Nick is hopefully going to enjoy the show, but it seems like the so might weigh down on him a bit. Also, I know its the rim of Tara's glass, but to me at least it looks like Darcy got her with a marker when asleep.

I think as Charlie is getting more confident, Nick is getting less, like maybe Charlie won’t need him as much and Nick has issues with being needed by those he loves.
