No page tomorrow - I think I've gone down with an illness of some kind that is making my drawing arm ache like hell 😓 either that or I have some sort of muscle strain! Either way I should probably not be drawing at the moment 🥲

take care of yourself, Alice!! your health is the number one priority, no matter how tense of a moment you’re leaving us on, haha. i’ll be patiently waiting to see how Nick and Charlie’s long-awaited confrontation will go…i’m expecting an argument but Nick seems to be in pretty bad shape so he might just break down before they really get to talk. i’m so glad they’ve removed themselves from the situation before getting into any kind of discussion though! i was so worried they would end up arguing in front of that guy, which would’ve been so uncomfortable for Charlie especially. i hope whatever comes next can just be between the two of them.

Se nicks behaviour here is neither good nor bad. From each persons context it is- but with us who are not involved in the situation. We know Nick is acting in an understandable way due to previous notions with this dude. And from Charlie’s perspective- it’s unprovoked so bad. This is where they need to talk and not fight.

feel better alice !!! thank you for still uploading today, everyone is SO greatly appreciative. your efforts and talent and dedication to your work definitely don’t go unnoticed :) regarding this page, the first panel is insane to me (in a good way) because 1) they look SO much older 2) the fact that they’re BOTH cross is something that we really haven’t seen before. the sequence from this night has been a LOT for nick’s psyche, and each event breaks down his walls more and more until he’s left bare. really looking forward to the further developments of this storyline, every page is so complex and addictive that everything feels like a cliffhanger!

Take care Alice, there's a lot going around at the minute. Poor Nick, he knows drummer boy is trying his luck, but Charlie hasn't a clue and probably thinks nick has lost the plot thanks to drink. I do wonder, neither of them have ever been concerned with the other cheating, but nick is clearly more insecure at this point.

The wobbly edges indicating the anger in the first panel really made it feel like the situation was about to defuse! And the way the bottle dropped, made it seem like Nick realized he didn’t handle the situation correctly. Such a good update as always

In the show's timeline we are already many months after the solitaire events. And as Alice has said before, the solitaire genre of story would not fit into the Heartstopper story at all (just like in the comic, where the main events werent mentionned aside from Charlie's relapse)

Charlie Spring I don't know if I could love you more❤️ Charlie's reaction is brilliant. No scenes, no arguments, just taking drunk Nick inside the pub. He is aware that any emotional conversation would do nothing in Nick's condition. Finally no more drinking 🥳 Finally no more watching this guy (or at least I hope so) 🎆

God, the ANGER Nick shows in that top panel is INTENSE...his dilated eyes, his threatening words, the responding shocked glare on Charlie's face, and the super dark background with the very chaotic borders are all so HARSH. Nick is angry, and even though I think he has a right to be a LITTLE irritated with New Guy, what is happening here is ANGER PLUS. First, it's Nick using anger as a protective shield to regain control over what he views as an threatening, uncertain situation. New Guy just implied that "we" were having a conversation, which clearly made Nick feel excluded...(and remember Nick just had that awkward conversation with New Guy and his sidekick, and he is still wearing beer googles, so it's going to take him longer to process and pick up on things...not an excuse, just the facts). I love the way Alice drew those borders so loud and chaotic though...Nick seeks to regain that sense of control, but actually loses it here by his outburst, and those borders portray that really well. Second, Nick has had ALL these vulnerable feelings coursing through his veins (for like months, but also very much in the last 30 minutes!) of sadness, anxiety, disappointment, trauma, uncertainty, and so much stress...raw emotions that are commonly expressed via another coping mechanism, like anger (especially when you are under the influence!) We get all of that coming out right now in Nick's outburst...and Charlie doesn't like it at all, but, Charlie being Charlie who loves and knows and reads Nick so well, reacts with an active response directed just at Nick (New Guy is just background noise now)...and his DEEP GRAB on Nick's arm is the equivalent of using deep pressure points, and actually starts to relax Nick a little (see how the borders go back to being more formed and stable after the grab?). It starts to be calming and securing to Nick, and helps to give Nick's brain the time to "unflip his lid" and recalibrate. Charlie keeps his hands on Nick, and gives a commanding sentence "Inside now," but spoken softly with the added "I think, " which is exactly what Nick needs. We have seen Nick physically and emotionally all over the place since the "That's My Boyfriend" cute moment...and this is Charlie, his Char, his HOME, regrounding him...it takes a minute, but Nick starts to recognize what just happened. His downcast eyes in the lower left panel break me...we see a few more beer bubbles (again, not an excuse, but a fact that needs to be considered), and then, we literally see the darkness escaping from Nick...the splotchy black dots all around him, making me think he SEES what he just did. It's too much...that wasn't him, this isn't him...(his dad yells, his brother yells...he talks, he communicates, right??!..). It's so overwhelming, and he drops his bottle to the ground, like the weight of all he feels, all that he experienced tonight, all of it, is JUST TOO MUCH. His heart is deflated. This doesn't feel good at all. It also feels very much like a "Who am I, anyway?" moment. Thank god Charlie is HOLDING his arm to steady him, to support him, to be WITH him because Nick needs that now more than ever. Did he mess up? Yes, but...

In the third panel Nick looks like a sleepwalker slowly coming back to his senses. And I think Charlie still looks mad, but more concerned and worried actually. Also, knows that something has been going on with Nick for weeks, so there’s hope he might swallow his anger -for now- and make sure Nick is okay first. He was worried before, when talking to Sahar. I doubt Nick is going to touch a drink any time soon and I’m still not ruling out another vomit situation.

I said it last post too. But I think Nick is fully RIGHT to act the way he is atm (granted, shouldn't be so drunk tho). Unfortunately Charlie doesn't know the whole situation yet so he just sees a drunk jealous boyfriend. Charlie's actions and feelings are valid atm too tho since he does not know yet.... once he know the whole situation he shouldn't be mad in my opinion 🤷

I would agree but also say WAY TO GO CHARLIE. Taking control of the situation and taking drunk Nick and reeling him in to control him. Such a mature way of addressing the drunk bf situation where their drunk state is triggering something. It is now Charlie's time to channel his inner Geoff and defuse the anxiety that is going on with Nick right now. This will help Nick & Charlie bond even more and make for a long-term relationship.

This page hurts because Charlie is angry but he has no idea what this absolute creep did to Nick inside with his little sidekick. Personally with or without a drink I know I’d lose it if another girl after all that was hitting on my girlfriend. My Italian temper would get the best of me so I feel for Nick.

Sorry about your arm, Alice. Feel better soon. This page, however, is drawn brilliantly. The anger in Nick's face and the stern but puzzled look from Char is so spot on. Love the tight arm squeeze. Although, I will say, my stomach and I will be relieved when we are through the lava lamp squiggles and bubbles pages, LOL. I hope drunk Nick can explain his behavior to Charlie when they get back inside the pub or in the morning. Whether or not they are missing out on something from only ever dating each other would be a great conversation to read. It could also lead to Nick finally opening up about his pent-up insecurities.

Nick dropping that bottle with a clatter is hopefully the equivalent of dropping this evening off his shoulders. I appreciate that firm and guiding grip Charlie has on Nick's arm. He's annoyed at Nick right now but he is showing his care for Nick at the same time. This rollercoaster of emotions has become constant for Nick. He feels something, he masks it, he is sad. He cannot sustain a frame of mind. He cannot continue to live with these memories ultimately eating into his current mental state as the dominant emotional zone is obviously sadness and unhappiness. Charlie can't wait for Nick to figure it and come to him anymore. He needs to nudge Nick towards opening up and talking to his mum. Hopefully this will be something the two can face together and does not involve Charlie distancing himself from Nick, however temporarily. That just doesn't feel very Nick and Charlie ❤️‍🩹

I had a disease in my hand that also hurt a lot and it was caused by repetitive movements. Maybe this is not your case or maybe it is? Anyway, don't let it go and rest!! ps: hot compresses help a lot to relieve pain and muscle spasms

The way Nick looks in the last panel and how this half empty bottle drops on the floor seems to me like the start of Nick's breakdown we all have been waiting for for days...or weeks. Take care Alice and rest, rest, rest - especially your very precious writing arm! 😂 There’s a great product I recommend often as a Health Coach for all kinds of joint and muscular pain that might help you too: Weleda Arnica Massage Balm - it’s a brilliant anti-inflammatory herbal oil - a little goes a long way and you can use it several times a day if needed - as a preventative treatment too to keep any RSI or painful inflammation at bay. I’ve got all my family using it now! Hope you feel much better soon

It's Nicks face in the 4th panel for me, that says: "You are the only person I really need right now and you are angry with me, too. I can't take this anymore." 😣 That doesn't mean, that Charlies reaction isn't very much understandable, with his lack of knowledge from what had happend before. And I question myself, if Nick is on the way to pass out, because of his bottle, that fell on the street, or if it's "just" his extreme drunkeness, that leads to that. It just makes me sad to see them struggling so much right now. 😞 This large amount of sad moments in the last weeks pages aren't easy to deal with for me in the form of this long process. But OF COURSE Alice's health is the fact that matters most - there shouldn't even be the need to say that, but just to really make this clear! So take all the time you need and get well soon, Alice! ❤️‍🩹

That guy is an annoying prick but that doesn't give Nick the right to act the way he does here imo. Charlie doesn't need to know the whole backstory, he can handle himself either way. Sure, there is more to Nick's behaviour than Charlie knows at the moment, but that doesn't mean Nick has to swoop in and play the angry protective boyfriend.

Oh Nick. That penultimate panel breaks my heart. You can see Nick's hurting and is sad. He likely feels a bit like he's messed everything up right now, having gotten called out by Tao and Elle when butting into their argument, and now he's made Charlie angry. And it must all seem really out of nowhere Nick acting that cold to someone, especially as Charlie doesn't know those two have spoken before, and quite possessive of Charlie as well. They definitely need to talk, I hope Nick can open up about what is bothering him properly, and I suspect we might be seeing Nick crying when they have that talk. And take care of yourself Alice, don't force yourself to come back to drawing too early if it keeps aching.
