Charlie has now entered the cursed ground and is getting a sense of this no good very bad night. I think his anger has disappated. How shocking to hear Nick say that he feels everyone hates him. That must cut Charlie's heart to the quick - it certainly does mine. Charlie is looking overwhelmed by everything - Tao and Elle's anger, Nick's words, lack of words and the whole weight of Nick literally in top of him. You can sense that Charlie is now overwhelmed - the weight of Nick is too much for him. He does need to get him home...to Sarah.

Firstly, no one could ever hate you, Nick. Well...Ben, but that was more jealousy. Tao and Elle have their own stuff going on. You will most certainly hear all about it as soon as you sleep it off. Good idea, Char. Get your guy safely home. Once again, poor Charlie is caught in the crossfires of his friend group. His facial expressions run the gamut from worried and shocked to scared and worried again. Me thinks it is best to steer clear of the ole Green Dragon from now on......

He's drunk and insecure. Most of the social interactions he's had this night haven't exactly been positive. He gave some well-intentioned but ultimately insensitive advice to Tao and Elle, who got annoyed at him. Tara then told Nick to chill and sit back down, which he maybe took the wrong way. The lads were confused by his behaviour and yelled after him. Those two annoying people were bothering him about his relationship, and now Charlie's upset with him as well. It can feel as if the entire world is against you in moments like that. Especially for Nick, who is used to being the good-natured guy that everybody likes.

This reminds me a lot of the post-GCSEs party in season 2 where lots of things came crashing down for Charlie’s friends, which Charlie did not handle well (emotionally, deep down inside). It will be very interesting to see how he handles it this time after all the work he has done in therapy, but also knowing that he struggled with a meal recently. I hope he’s learning to recognize his signs and take action.

i feel so terrible for nick, being an anxious insecure drunk is all too real. another turning point for sure. i also just wanted to shoutout charlie’s character development and his integrity as a character. i love the complexity and it really showcases in this scene. your balance of charlie being angry at nick for what he did, but also showing genuine concern, but also loving him and holding him up (figuratively and literally!!!!) has been handled so beautifully. charlie showing that he is worried abt nick throughout the entirety of this volume so far (whether that’s thru words or general facial expressions) is so important and has led up to this moment. i hope you have a good next couple days, and am eagerly looking forward to the next page!

Aww poor Nick, like I understand how challenging it's been for him, especially seeing Charlie go through a lot throughout their relationship so far, like it was a lot for Nick to witness and see. Like it did break him, but now since Charlie is back home and seeking help from a therapist, it's kind of... I don't know what word to use, maybe more easierish for him like sure Charlie still has his mental health days don't we all? But now this is adding that anxious back into Charlie because he's worried about Nick. And plus now Nick has to realise that since he was there for Charlie, its time he properly allows Charlie to be there for him, since we all know deeply Nick doesn't know who he is without Charlie and we already see that during rugby he was so used to Charlie being there with him, but now since Charlie's head boy and left rugby, it's a pull towards Nick. If any of that made any sense. And oh boy Tao and Elle... okay so I never been to university so I don't know too much about it but I know it's hard for Tao but in a way Elle, she just wants to express herself better and if that means going to university outside of the UK it's perfectly fine too

Charlie's in a pickle. He's got to get Nick home, which means he has to find a person who is sober enough and fully present enough to focus on driving to get them both home safely. Nick is out, and so are Elle and Tao. So who does that leave? Tara? She's chasing down Darcy. Aled? Can he even drive? The rugby lads have been drinking shots... Can Charlie call Michael and/or Tori? Or Nick's mom? Or Charlie's dad? Worse alternatives might be Charlie's mom or, Heaven forbid, David? The important thing is to get home safely. Then get him some water and aspirin and put him to bed. And once he's in bed safe and sound, listen while he talks....

I'm worried about Nick AND Charlie (and Tao and Elle, and where is our lovable Darcy??). Nick is definitely ready for home. The weight of the night with its emotional highs (dancing to his hot boyfriend's band, and "a shot or two" with friends, yes please!) and lows (what did I say wrong to Tao and Elle, why was Tara mad at me? Did I push into Sai? WTF happened with that New Guy, and god, Charlie is even angry with me...) and alcohol's effects and being out so late...it's too much for our golden retriever. He has his eyes closed in every single panel, like he wants all these flashing memories to just go away (along with the awful ones that popped up without his permission, like his parents arguing). But, you can see how much Charlie is able to externally regulate Nick, quieting him, and as he leans more and more onto Charlie, he is so cocooned in felt safety that he vulnerably shares, "I think everyone hates me." (and I think by everyone, Nick also means himself because I don't think he likes himself so much right now). It reminds me of when he opened up in the dark to Charlie after his nightmare...except he is creating his own "dark" right now as he keeps his eyes closed and relies on Charlie for support and safety. (and I don't blame him one bit because it's CHARLIE, and we all know that Charlie would move mountains to protect and love Nick, even if he was just a little angry). But, Charlie, well, my heart hurts for him because his eyes ARE open and are OPENING even more as this page progresses...he starts out "just" worried about Nick, and then realizes that more shit has been going down with his friends all night than he was aware of. I mean, his face in that first panel breaks me. His heart and mind are SO troubled and under alert as he continues to put ALL the past few months together along with all that just happened with Nick, and I love the way Alice drew Nick's expression almost the opposite. Nick looks kind of numb, shutting down (literally) to recharge, and he seems so less emotional...like now that he is with Charlie, he is "fine" again...some of that is being tipsy, and some of that is reverting back to the only coping mechanism Nick has (Ha Ha, i'm fine). BUT, I'M WORRIED about CHARLIE...that he may feel responsible for Nick feeling that way, that he may feel responsible for not noticing that Tao and Elle were fighting, that he should have, could have done something, if only...if only, what Charlie...you were PLAYING on stage! I see the pain all over his face in that last panel, and it is heartbreaking. Charlie somehow looks so big and so small at the same time. He's saying practical next steps that need to happen to "get Nick home," he's physically holding Nick up, his eyes are watching Tao and Elle leaving...it's all converging on him. We get this drawn perspective of our big rugby lad totally dependent on our fit drummer gay nerd, centrally standing in the middle of a huge crowd, but still looking so, so alone. Added to that, seeing Charlie drawn in that oversized coat of Nick's reminds me that even though HE can (maturely) see that hard things are happening within Nick, Charlie is also still just a teenager and cannot carry the weight of it all himself. It's too much for Nick to open up and process (still), and it's too much for Charlie to "fix." ("sometimes, people need more support than just one person can give"). Go Home, boys...and let's hope Nick remembers a lot of this night when he wakes up...

I'm so worried about Nick and how this will progress😭 but i love that Charlie is taking care of him, i hope he tells Nick that he needs to open up and tell him what is going on or atleast try to find a way to help Nick because this will probably only get worse. And the "i think everyone hates me"?!💔, that broke me.. And tao & elle.. i have a bad feeling about this.

Poor Charlie just got thrown in the deep end, but he’s handling it so well. I love how Nick slowly starts slumping further down, leaning—figuratively and actually—on Charlie. However, I think Charlie’s going to need some help getting his giant rugby lad out of here. (Perhaps the rugby lads who helped get him into this state can assist him!) I totally want Sarah involved. I just don't know what that looks like between Nick and Charlie. I like how Nick encouraged Charlie to talk to his parents, came with him but let Charlie do the talking. I'm uncomfortable with the idea of Charlie talking about Nick with Sarah behind his back. I feel like that strips Nick of his agency and turns him into that broken fragile mess. Mind you, if Nick continues to refuse to talk that may become necessary. Maybe Charlie just hints that all has not been well.

I think given how Nick started out, he went into the night not expecting to drive home. I think he’s responsible enough to plan ahead in that way (I’m thinking about NYE on the show when Nick mentioned that he was driving when he was getting a drink, with the implication being that he wasn’t going to drink too much.) So I’m guessing the plan would be that Sarah would pick them up or he and Charlie get an uber? I guess it depends on how far away the pub is and what transportation is like. A bus for sure is out, due to Nick’s drunkenness level, if that was the plan. Just thinking now, I wonder why Tori wasn’t at the show? Anyway, maybe Sarah would be fine with going out late(ish?) to pick up her drunk (adult, technically 😅) child…? We have seen her be out late so she may not mind. I’m seeing people mention David and that would be really interesting as a development but seems so unlikely to me…? I guess it could happen if Nick said something about not wanting his mum to see him like this, or Sarah was not available. If they don’t have a plan, I think Charlie would reach out to Tori or his parents before David. Maybe they wouldn’t want Charlie’s parents to see Nick in this state and maybe Tori isn’t available and they’re too far for an uber so Charlie has to get Nick’s phone from him to ask David out of desperation. It probably isn’t even going to be that complicated 😅 (maybe just a time jump to N&C in bed with a trash can next to the bed, Nick passed out and Charlie just wide awake, looking so worried?) but since we have a day without a page I’ll use any excuse to overthink. 😊 Also do we know they drove there? Obviously the band has a van but isn’t it a possibility that they live within walking distance? Maybe?

Yeah, Charlie is very much missing context with being thrown in the deep end of the evening's issues. Seriously he doesn't even know that Tao and Elle had an argument before the show, let alone what it was about and how Nick stuck his foot in his mouth trying to fix it. He at least knows about Tara's worries but can't help with it. The night has been an important one I think, and will prompt many important conversations, but it must also be a bit of a whiplash one for Charlie. From a good performance to sudden possessive Nick, minor argument and clearly hurting friends. I'm sure they don't hate you Nick, but you definitely need to get home and sleep. Then talk with Charlie after some water.

I meant it more in a way like Sarah/Aunt Diane helped Nick to help Charlie. Not talking behind Nick's back in a bad way. To exchange your personal worries about a person you love. Nick's mum must have noticed something, too, the way we know her. Even though we didn't get to see it much yet.

I’m hoping for a parallel between season 2 after the bonfire incident and now. Where Nick talks about what’s going on. But Charlie gets him water instead of tea (cause Nick definitely needs some water before his game tmrw) 😂

Awwww the drunk sads. Everyone has been there havnt they? Have a big cry and let it all out nick.. and then hopefully talk with charlie about touching base more often even when things get busy. They might need to actually spend some more time together as a couple not just drifting on their existing relationship. Everyone needs some clarity and reassurance some of the time. Yeah, but....There's drinking, and then there's being fully drunk, which is what Nick currently is. And David is a bully--specifically Nick's lifelong bully--so he tends to turn everything into an insult/threat anyway.
