There you go... FINALLY!

J

Oh Nick... poor boy Charlie really just wants to help

Jasollie

Honestly I’m glad Nick closed the door. I love my partner but i don’t want or need anyone else in the room when I’m vomiting. I’m glad Charlie will be there after to help Nick get into bed, get him water, etc. 🩷

ACxo

Concern boyfriend mode activated as soon as Nick raced upstairs

Lucia Lago

thank you so much for the warnings🤍

Roks

Never clicked a notification so fast ♥️

Justin S.

a physical purge, and hopefully an emotional one!

Astrid H.

He will feel much better (physically at least…) after this!

tess ^_^

reliving the events of s3 where everyone seemed to be throwing up

arlo🦕

oh no 😅😅

Patrick Cirelli

Ah yes, praying to the porcelain goddess. Been there, done that. 😝

Merel

I love that the Nelsons have a little WC sign on their toilet door, that feels so silly to do in a house haha

Xalek

Oh Nick... Let it up, Charlie will be waiting for you. After This Winter I hope they can have a nice xmas at some point this year.

Tina

as a bisexual who got drunk on saturday and felt it yesterday, i'm right there with you nick

Elity

Note to self: always have a bathroom on the ground floor.

Chloe ♡

oh nick is about to go through it and then never want to touch alcohol for a while 😭

Allegra2346

And yet somehow he still managed to take his shoes off before going upstairs 😍

Jomaries Amezaga

Cheers to be young and make poor decisions. 😂

btripi

nick slamming the door on charlie when hes getting sick, very representative of him shutting charlie out whenever he needs help!!

Sabrina

Aww Nicky 🥺 Hopefully he’s learned a lesson after this and can see that excessive drinking won’t help him to hide away from his worries. And Alice, thanks again for the warnings 🙏🏼

Reivaj

I don't why I get the feeling that David will appear in one of the next pages and try to help Nick a bit, at least with the vomit. I think that after breaking up with Jess he realized a bit how much a dick he is and will try to be a bit better.

OSM

They’ve had important conversations on either side of a bathroom door before, they can do it again

Katrin

Well... he got to the bathroom... it´s a win... right?

lauren

hope the event went well!!

Lolli98

Ok Nick, let it all out. The next few pages?? That must be one hell of a throw up.😬 I'm surprised but glad he made it to the toilet. But I guess with the amount he was drinking...he needs to learn his lesson. 😉

Brandy78

I am so glad he made it to the bathroom!!!

Molly Goat

Nicky, buddy 🥺 But hey! They're home now at least, that's good.

ama

i feel like nick is going to start feeling bad about how tonight went, charlie said he's not angry with him but he's probably going to spiral about that guy at the pub again, idk i can feel a good cry coming for nick, and he'll not want charlie to come in and see him like that :(

ama

also if sarah wasn't waiting up for them, she's definitely awake now, with nick running up the stairs and charlie shouting after him😅

Lolli98

Maybe when your drunk teenager comes home, it can be useful.😁

Christie

Oh Nick 🫣

Jon Goerner

I hope that's the bathroom he ran into.

BEL

“….the next few pages..” !!! poor Nickie!!! 🤮

flynn tasker

charlie is so cute running after him, he must really be worrying about nick a lot right now. also is this a reference to nick shutting charlie out of his feelings? 😍 like okay alice with the deeper meaning slay girl

Jonathan Payne

Is he even going to remember what happened tonight?

Charlie

Oh we’ve all been there. 🤭🤭🤭

Allegra2346

Honestly I’m amazed that Nick managed to make it up the stairs without falling flat on his face 🫣

Glenn

It's amazing. Even in that condition Nick remembered to take his shoes off.

Antonio

i feel like charlie might have small conversation with either sarah or david in the next few pages

Allegra2346

That’s what I’m saying!!! 😂 Nick is nothing if not respectful to his mother 🫡

M R

Exactlyyy, and also Nick is going to "vomit" everything that he has been feeling and not elaborating. Instead of talking, organising and processing, his body will speak for him...😔 Loving this arc so far!!!

kenzie !

thank you so much for the warning. i have really bad emetophobia (mainly just seeing/hearing it, but it really depends on the day lmfao) and literally no one puts warnings on it. thank you so so much again

Allison Drevich

I'm impressed he made it upstairs. My house has stairs to the front door and that's been a challenge a couple times!

Loveislove

The symbolism is anvilling me 😭. Nick is gagging on everything that has happened this evening and all his feelings. He has a hand covering his mouth around Charlie and is not saying a word, he takes off the jacket which is a shared experience between the two of them, removes his shoes because that is what is expected of him even though he is in distress, ignored Charlie repeatedly calling his name and wanting to talk to him and literally runs away from him and slams the door on him. Fucking hell - vol 6. I'm in doubt if Charlie will be staying and if perhaps David/Sarah shows up next.

Noemiette

Idk if I'm reading too much into it but from this page and the fact that you mention we will only hear Nick puke makes me think he is gonna lock himself in this bathroom alone and not let Charlie in. Which makes me sad cause this is a classic of people who are used to being the rock to everyone else but arent confortable with being in the position of needing help or support themselves. We had multiple examples in the comic and in the show of partners supporting each other when the other is sick (tara and darcy both, nick bringing charlie to the toilet when he feels sick), Nick feeling like he needs to be alone is sad but sadly expected considering everything happening in his head :(

laura

charlie is stronger than me for trying to help, i can’t see or hear other people throwing up… i remember trying to help my friend when she got REALLY drunk and she ended up having to help me cuz i threw up seeing her throwing up 😭 (i feel fine seeing it in books, movies, comics, etc tho idk why kksjdgwhsjk

Juliana Barhorst

TSK TSK… now see Nicholas this is what happens when you drink your body weight in alcohol! Hopefully you learn your lesson and pace yourself! And not start arguments while drunk!

Katrina

Oh boy here comes the vomit 🤮

Laura

I had to laugh reading your comment because I’m the same 😂😂😂

Kristyn

The next few pages 😬

Caitlin

🏃‍♂️💨

Ali Michelle

is there not a downstairs bathroom nicky!? 😭

Tina

sarah come get ur boy

laura

sometimes i feel bad cuz i’ve been in so may situations of ppl throwing up and being unable to help them, i just keep some distance, look another way while holding my breath a bit to keep it cool and try say comforting words to try giving them some kind of moral support 😂

JoJo 🫶🏻🔐🎨

Poor nick xx glad his home just need his bed now and cuddles from Charlie

Elena

It makes me sad to see, that Nick shuts the toilet door and isn't able to accept help from Charlie. 😞 Maybe (hopefully) that changes in the next pages. ❤️‍🩹

Jennifer Paddock

Nick will feel sooooo much better after this - no matter how many pages it takes 😃 At least he has short hair!

Cliff

Nick is embarrassed! I wouldn’t read too much into him closing the door. But who have they woken up with the shouting and the door-slam? Lots of interesting plot options.

Joni

I’m actually impressed Nick made it all the way to the bathroom. But seeing Charlie on the other side makes me sad 🥺

Elena

Omg, I love that kind of view on it! 😅😊 Makes me feel hopeful, even if Nick shut the door! ❤️‍🩹

Brittney

Yikes... I tell people this when they either about to drink alcohol or afterwards but one, sometimes you don't always need to be drinking to be the life of the party and two, it only numbs the pain a little not a lot, like I mean I Believe Nick was kind of drinking in season 3 episode 4 but I kept thinking to myself "Oh Nick, that won't do much believe me." Like I know it's hard for him and especially since recently since everything is becoming a lot overwhelming like Nick, you'll be having a panic attack soon babe if you don't slow down. But at that same time he's hiding behind that mask again that he mentioned to Charlie in volume five

Loveislove

I don't know - that emphatic door slam is all kinds of symbolic. Please tell me the door isn't locked too 😭

Theaterboi27

Awww, full circle moment. The last time Char was standing outside this very door, he was professing his love for the lad, now, on the other side ralphing. Isn't love grand! LOL

Jordan

That’s a great point! This story is so full of beautiful parallels I’m excited to see what is to come here

ucfnurse

Made it!!!🙀☺️🤢😵‍💫☀️🌻🎊🌷🍃✌️🕊️☮️

rickettyuncles

Agreed! Some of us just don’t want company when we’re upchucking. And Nick doesn’t need anyone to hold his hair back 😜

Calfic

I honestly am not sure. I think a lot of people lock thenselves up in this moment, just cause. but maybe.

Noemiette

I wouldnt have picked up on it that much if 1. we hadnt had multiple examples of tara taking care of sick darcy, the other way around in the show, and Nick taking care of sick Charlie is the show 2. That image of the SLAM of the door in Charlie's face 3. I've known people who might ressemble Nick in some ways behaving like that when they are sick

Calfic

Yep. Really don't think this is Nick with a deeper meaning. It may feel that way to Charlie, but I think it was just him on instinct.

Calfic

Have to admit, this sequence may be a little tough. My disability and mentions of vomit, not the best mix. Thanks for the warning Alice!! Nick doing this was needed though. Anyway, in terms of the story. It would be totally realistic for either David or Sarah to have to go to the bathroom, and happen upon Charlie. I would hope David would be nice, but I could see him be demeaning to Charlie and then later, Nick feeling really bad because he didn't protect Charlie.

𝒯𝓊𝓋𝒶 𝒮ℛ

I hope this ends well, the door slam?? I hope they're gonna have a conversation soon, nick really needs to let his feelings out..

Calfic

There is absolutely no way, it will be tonight, and I'm just assuming he doesn't want people to hear him vomit. They need the talk, but after this, he will probably fall asleep, and he is in no position to really discuss.

Cole Morin

🤣 Nicks just going through it lol

Beam Bugge

the fact that this is the comment that Alice has liked makes me concerned 😅

Dippity_Dip

Damn nick me too💀 ppl who are emotionally closed off due to people pleasing anxiety and can’t hold their liquor>>>>

Lolli98

I don't want anyone by my side when I have to throw up (for whatever reason). So I wouldn't read it that Nick is excluding Charlie. But as Alice liked a comment reading it like this, I guess this is where the story is going. And it will hurt Charlie.🙁

Calfic

I'm curious, because I don't know if most people love an audience for this. Especially, since unlike me, he doesn't need help with his hair (I have long hair.)

Claire

The gang (or is it Alice?) are really putting us all through it in this endless evening!

hayley

nick was pretty much all of the way into the house by the time charlie heard the GAG so no wonder why he ran off so fast... at least he made it (and sounds like charlie talks to him through a door again)

btripi

there are plenty of people who like the comfort of having someone there for them while they’re being sick, whether that’s rubbing their back, getting them a glass of water, helping them clean up, saying comforting things, or just other small gestures of help. it’s also totally normal if someone would rather be alone for that, but even if that is nicks preference, it’s more about his lack of communication with charlie about how he wants to be supported. again, this is all more representative of the larger problem, but the visual depiction of charlie standing outside a closed door, knowing nick is struggling and actively wanting to help him in someway, but instead being shut out, is very reflective of their current situation

T

We’ve all been there, Nick.

Bina

this immediately makes me think of a certain other important scene where Charlie talks to Nick through Nick’s closed bathroom door…but somehow i feel like whatever’s about to happen next isn’t going to go half as well as that ‘i love you’ did 😔 such a good parallel though!!

Maddy

I fear we're about to have another "Through the door" conversation. Except this time I feel like its going to be "I'm worried about you" rather than "I love you"

Glenn

Makes me glad the drinking age in the United States is 21. Also if the Green Dragon was in here, they would be in a lot of trouble for supplying drinks to a person in Nick's condition (age or not)

RCM

That top panel has me thinking back to the night when Nick thought he didn't want Charlie to come round (when we figured out you know who was back at home) and then changed his mind, and we had that absolutely glorious drawing of Nick opening his door to find a very loving Charlie Spring, all wonderfully HIM in a scarf and with Nick's favorite dimples and curly hair peeking out, and a warm smile (meant just for Nick) on a super clear and starry night (just like tonight!), standing on the stoop, ready to just BE THERE for his boyfriend. At the time, Charlie was sensing something was off with Nick, and jumping forward to tonight, Charlie STILL knows something is off with Nick, still wants to be there for him, but STILL doesn't know exactly what is going on (let alone how long, how deep, how much) with Nick at all. It's like a weird time warp where nothing has changed (on the surface anyways), but also so much has changed as Nick is not as able to keep those anxiety and fears, and all that past trauma triggered now by the uncertainty of his future, buried as much..they are peeking out every chance they get. It's like that often missed mental health struggle where you are able to function and seem "fine," when you are in reality slowly and steadily spiraling into not being fine at all...and it HURTS to see Nick going through this (although I am so grateful he has people, especially Charlie, paying attention!). I see that drop of sweat on Charlie's worried face as he turns at the awful sound of Nick's gag reflex..it is telling/interesting to me that Charlie starts to take off his scarf and jacket before realizing how urgent Nick's "situation" is, and how likewise Nick manages to take the time to get his shoes and most of his coat off AND has the wherewithal to "hold in" his impending emesis until he makes it UPSTAIRS to the WC ( the responsible people pleaser in him is so engrained)...and again, Charlie seems a little baffled at how much Nick is rushing to the bathroom as he appears to WALK up behind him, calling out, questioning and concerned "Nick" with added "!!" the faster Nick goes...It shows the disconnect of how Charlie knows (there is an issue) but doesn't know (what it is), mostly because Nick kind of knows (there is an issue) but cannot say yet (what it is). I still think Nick doesn't consciously fully understand what is going on inside him yet..but he is getting increasing signs and hints and awful dreams and cruel flashbacks. He is still not able to articulate it yet, even to Charlie, who he trusts and loves more than anyone. SLAM!! That almost but not yet sensation that both of them are having has just been defined by the rough SLAM of a door...leaving both of them ALONE on opposite sides, wishing for anything but that. Charlie wants to BE THERE for Nick, and although Nick feels best when he is closest to Charlie, he pushes him away at this last minute, probably as an automatic reaction more than a chosen one, to "protect him from the worst parts of himself,” because that is what Nick has imprinted on him by his dad (and brother) as a kid? Take care of that shit on your own, kiddo...I can't handle you like that. And I am over here screaming, OPEN THE DOOR, boys...Charlie CAN handle it, and wants to. Let him in, Nick, let him in... this page...🥺

Murgy

Oh Nick, the next few minutes are going to be unpleasant but at least you managed to get to the bathroom before it all went wrong. Its impressive he still have the manoeuvrability to do quick 180 turns that likely helps make him the King of Rugby at Truham. Charlie is trying to help of course, but with the door shut he can't really help, effectively mirroring the emotional troubles Nick is currently shutting Charlie out of. But, Charlie is still there for when Nick wants to open up. Also, if I'm not mistaken, some important things things have been said through that door, and might be again. Because Nick and Charlie always have a chaotic way of doing things. I feel slightly sorry for Sarah with the racket that the boys are making getting home.

Meike

I have been at both ends of that door metaphorically and physically and what I have learned from that is that being vulnerable, let your partner see a more real and ugly or darker side of yourself (like vomiting after drinking too much and not being able to open up about your abandonment issues) can make you a lot stronger and grounded as a couple. Nick should know that by now, since he was the one who got Charlie to open up about his problems. But I guess we’re getting there

artxsta

do they not have a downstairs bathroom 😭

Tina

hey i didn't even make it home before throwing up (sorry to the train conductor) so we all have better and worse drunken adventures

Hollyh

Thank you so much for the warnings ❤️

Jasollie

I assumed they didn’t after Tori was using the upstairs bathroom at the family dinner.

artxsta

everything’s intentional w alice!!! tells of a great storyteller

artxsta

wow, great catch and attention to detail! i guess i’m just used to two story houses having at least one bathroom downstairs lol

Flor D. la Peña🍂

Is the talk finally going to happen ? Cause I can’t wait no more 😫 I’ve been waiting for so long they need to do it 🥺 Again thank you for the warning Alice !

al

same nick same. literally me at work this morning after going too hard at a super bowl party 😭

Jordan

At this point would we be surprised if Nick yells “no worries I’m fine haha” through the door whilst vomiting 😭 love the complexity of this storyline!

Joelle Klein

As someone with severe emetophobia, these warnings are more appreciated than you know. Thank you truly for taking the time to care about what may upset or scare others <3

brie

thank u for the trigger warnings from someone who didn’t know they had emetophobia until i watched We Live In Time last year

Elena Squeglia

Thank you for the warnings❤️🫶

Theaterboi27

Nick is so sweet; he does not want to subject Char to this not so pretty event. Also, I am sure he does not want his mum and David hearing the unpleasantries.

Theaterboi27

Nick is most definitely not the melodramatic lock yourself in the bath kinda guy. But he is the oh lord I do not want everyone in a three-block radius hearing thunderous ralphing lad.

Noemiette

It's not about being melodramatic. This type of behavior is very common for people like Nick, and is on brand with all the things we've seen about him these past couple of volumes. And it's not a locked door that's gonna keep people from hearing. But what it does is locking Charlie outside when he isnt ok at all, after weeks of not being able to open up to him. The visual of the door slammed in Charlie's face is pretty strong and is done on purpose
