This week, we take on a Scorsese movie. Never thought that would happen, but it did. And the movie deserved it. And here's proof.

This book was presented in an assembly at the BYU in Provo, UT back in the 90's and sooooooo many people lost their shit over it. It sparked huge religious debates all over campus because of the decision made to trample on the picture. (I just rolled my eyes so hard I saw my brain)

I'm so glad you guys made a huge deal about Inoue's hilarious deflation. Issey Ogata is one of our great character actors but I laughed so hard when he started shrinking smaller and smaller in his floor chair. I bet Thelma Schoonmaker, the 3-time Oscar winning editor, nearly died laughing working on the scene. XD Oh, and I'm looking forward to next week's roast too. Yeah this country has a stupid anime for everything from tentacle porn to woo-woo cult...

Oh hell yes for the Happy Science anime! They had a screening in Houston a few years back, and my friend who loves weird shit bought it and we watched it. I was hoping y'all would do it.

The stepping on the picture thing was the test for Christianity during the Tokugawa Shogunate. It's mentioned in Candide, one of the Dutch sailors in Lisbon says he's been to Japan and stepped on the plate several times.

Trying to explain that Scorsese made a Christian movie to my friends was infuriating. I guess the fact that this movie has 83% on Rotten Tomatoes means it's above reproach. >.>

Wow! Right off the bat, no one laughed at Eli's "head guard duty"? Don't worry, Eli. I certainly laughed at that. Admittedly, I was shoveling snow, and my brain was partially frozen. (Heh, heh. No, seriously, I thought it was funny. I was disappointed that no one else seemed to even notice it. But then, they're all used to Eli being funny, huh?)
