With all the travel this month, we really had to get this one in under the wire. Appreciate your patience. Enjoy...

Catboyslim

It’s easy to mistake the Christian Wonder bread Belt for the Borscht ….lol

Strangeblood

Years too late but I want to throw my hat into the drinking milk ring, I love a nice glass of organic grass fed whole milk, it's like a meal in liquid form!

Rachel Manente

Noah's "Patrick Stewart" slip gave me a giggle

DrProfSatan

Watermelons. Drill a hole in them and fill them with vodka. Eat watermelon, get drunk. I know Noah and Eli don’t drink, but how does Heath not know this.

M R

TIL: Jennifer Grey and Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) hated each other’s guts @ 57:08.

JCS

I DRINK MILK!!

JCS

The earlier movie they did that you refer to at 58:10 is Red Dawn.

Andrew Campbell

And George Bush gave the "Tear Down this wall " speech

Andrew Dean

I know what a Catskills retreat is because of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel! I live in New Zealand which is 0.001% Jewish

Amy Longtin

I can’t recall EVER drinking a glass of milk, even with cookies.

The Greater Goop

How do I enter the “we did in fact evolve from filthy monkey men” contest...the internet is the worst disseminater of information since birds.

The Greater Goop

Well can I introduce you to lettuce, try putting some dressing on that stuff.

Richard Still

One more vote for just pouring and drinking a glass of milk. Yum!

William Evan Barnes

Heath, man, I just want you to know: it is possible to be happy fucking a bunch of people! I celebrated International Atheist Day by going to a sex party with my polyamorous girlfriend. Get it Heath, it can be done! Gloryhole, motherfucker

Marcus

“...kick stopper...” KICKSTOPPER. Nailed it. Killing it Heath.

I drink the fuck out of some milk. I often buy a half gallon of chocolate milk to drink when I get home from work.

Diana

This is now my favorite bonus episode. I'm with Eli; milk exists for cereal, lattes, and absolutely nothing else.

Christopher Stutz

I have a nice glass of glenfiddich 15 year with a cookie, but often have a glass of milk in the morning with breakfast.

Markus D

What about baking? I don't drink it but I recognize the fact that people do. Though honestly, since I've become an adult I barely ever see any other adults drink milk unless there are cookies.

Markus D

I feel like chocolate milk doesn't count because they added something that made it automatically way better to it.

Markus D

I realized that E.T. was boring when I was a child. Maybe it had to do with being born in the 1990s and not the '80s, but I never found it super impressive because E.T. was just some gross-looking thing dicking around in a really boring movie until suddenly the government starts trying to kidnap him and the boy he's with. I don't even really remember how those events are connected but basically nothing else stood out to me.

Aqua man

Milk with desserts is key.

The Gray Hunter

I worked on DD! In wardrobe. It was filmed nowhere near the Catskills but in Lake Lure , NC. (It was probably “restricted” at the time this movie takes place) It was great being in the NC mountains.... hemming tons of pants and doing tons of cocaine.

I'm sitting in my sweatpants drinking white milk right now. <3. Chocolate milk is objectively better though.

The Gray Hunter

Jesus Eli.... a glass of milk is a thing that everyone who is not lactose intolerant does. (With some thin mint Oreos... mmmmmm) Almond milk and its ilk are disgusting and awful. What planet do you live on? Oh yeah.... the one where poor people buy Neopolitan ice cream because they can’t afford three flavors in separate containers. (P. S. Try researching “spumoni”)

Leslie Marchant

This frickin' movie made my senior year in high school sooooo annoying. Every. Damn. Thing had a "Time of my life" theme. Ugh.

LustAndLeisureSexToys

Milk isn't just for cookies. What else would one drink with waffles than milk?

Markus D

I just drink LOTS of water. I know literally nobody who drinks milk with waffles.

Markus D

Temple of Doom isn't bad because of the racism. It's the female lead whose whole role is "be stupid" and "scream at things". The racism doesn't HELP, but at least it's less... annoying?

The Gray Hunter

So what did you guys think of the remake?

Patrick Carr

Milk is okay with cookies, and chocolate milk is fine to drink, but never just a glass of plain milk. Bleh.

Patrick Carr

Virtually anything else. Juice, Diet Pepsi, yes, I said it, hot tea.

Regina Calabrese

One of the few times I have to respectfully disagree with Noah. Temple of Doom sucked because it was a terrible movie even outside the racism. There’s a reason everyone compared Crystal Skull to it.

Matt

Milk is only good with chocolate and in baked products. What are you a droog?

Brendan Horn

No one in my family just drinks milk. We buy it all the time, but we just use it as an ingredient, none of us just drink it.

Michelle C

I literally had no idea that adults drank milk. This is bizarre.

Molly Bowling

So ... Dirty Dancing came out when I was in middle school. I don’t think I realized abortion wasn’t always legal, really, at that age, or what a devastating impact an unplanned pregnancy could have. Let’s just say I never realized Penny was pregnant until my early 20s. I thought someone had beaten her up (“knocked up”) but never understood why she couldn’t dance because she was dancing then! The movie made so much more sense once I understood the pregnancy/abortion angle that I never realized how much OTHER stuff didn’t jive. I might have been a naive kid.

Edward Grabow

Can we get a Citation Needed on whatever it is you call the middle man between the waiter, and the cooks? So you take the orders from the customers? No? So you cook the food? No? So you take the food to the customers? No? So...what is it that you would say you do here. Albeit Eli made it sound like this middleman was the waiter, and the guy actually talking to you was some pre-waiter. This has thrown me and I had to stop the podcast and process this for a bit.

David S.

I drink so much milk it's ridiculous, I had two full glasses of it while listening to this. It's one of my favorite things to drink.

JCS

A couple of points you guys missed that frankly surprised me: Remember when Neal takes her to get the pickles and milk and they see the sexual assault victim come out of the bushes? That was Lisa, Baby's sister. The guy in the bushes who was Robbie the waiter. The other is that after Johnny leaves and you see Baby standing around by herself missing Johnny, the song in the background (She's Like the Wind) was sung by Patrick Swayze. I kept waiting for you to say something about that because it fit right in with what you were saying but you didn't. Otherwise, well done! It was a favorite of mine when I was in my teens because I had a huge crush on Patrick Swayze after seeing him in Red Dawn and The Outsiders so there was no way in hell I was missing this! :D

Debbie Anderson

This movie was filmed where I went to vet school! Va. Tech.

Debbie Anderson

And I’m sad to say I was there when it was filmed

Rocktoberfest

I feel like drinking milk by itself might be more of an American thing. If nothing else here in the UK you'd have biscuits/cookies with tea, not milk.

Rocktoberfest

I thought you where just going to leave it at "so he's just going to be in a painters union, and my 14 year old."

Tori MacNair

I went to high school in Ashevlle, NC. I was still in school when this was filmed. Some of the girls from my school who took dance lessons were extras. It was our everything at the time. Our prom theme in 88 was "The Time of Our Lives". Though we were cautioned that there would be no dirty dancing allowed.

Kyle

I 100% drink a glass of milk with a meal.

Edward Grabow

.5+ gal of milk a day. That is down from 1+ gal of milk a day.

Jasmine

The only people I know who just drink a glass of plain milk are babies. Milk is gross by itself.

Aya Sakurai

Forget milk. For someone like me, who knows nothing about American Jewish community, Eli's extensive memory lane trip to the Catskills mountain resort was the most interesting part of this episode.

Edward Grabow

Yes expand my Citation Needed idea to The Catskills as a whole. I do need to know more about the middleman waiter.

Edward Grabow

Maybe whole or even 2%, but little beats a refreshing glass of skim milk

Penseur Sauvage

What's that "milk" thing yall talking about ?

Andrew Lindsay

Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys.... How I divorced your mother? Really? The more appropriate title would be ‘How I left your mother’, surely.

GodAwful

Yeah- I was going to mention that. It does a great job of explaining that culture.

GodAwful

Just send a recording (mp3) to Noah with "Farnsworth quote" in the subject line to noahlugeons @ yahoo dot come. Try to keep is around 20 seconds and record in a quite location.

LaSalleStory

I’m with Eli! I’ve only ever seen children drinking a glass of milk. The gallon of milk I buy is strictly for cereal or baking, I’m not a goddamn monster.

Jeaneene

I think Penny was Patrick Swayze’s real life wife, if I remember correctly.

Meadhands

I got 72 minutes into this review — SEVENTY-TWO FUCKING MINUTES, all the while thinking things like "I thought I remembered everyone being some brand of Christian," and "Man, this movie is darker than I remember," and "Why aren't they mentioning John Lithgow?" — before I finally realized that I have never seen Dirty Dancing and I was thinking of Footloose.

A.J.

I can't believe you didn't discuss how anachronistic "Time of my life" is in the time this movie was supposed to take place.

Markus D

I 100% forgot it ever existed.

Eric Kenney

Milk is gross! Plenty of people still drink it even if it just weird and gross

Anonymous User

I’m with Eli. Unless you are under 10, mill is for cereal and coffee

The Viking Paratrooper

Listening to you guys critize Swayze.... who was an actual dancers.... or martial arts or... parkour, any movement is crazy. You guys know so much.... until these come up.

Laura Lusby

This movie came out when I was 13. My parents absolutely FORBID me to watch it. I didn’t see it until I was in high school, and I had to sneak over to a friends house to watch it

Laura Lusby

LOL also…the theme song at the end is the tune of my high school’s school song
