Alright, we're a little late with the May Bonus. I hate to admit it, but between the book and getting ahead for Eli's paternity leave, I completely forgot I hadn't already posted it. But luckily Tim is around to pull my head out of my ass whenever it gets lodged there. Enjoy.-Noah

Noah, you apologize too much for stuff like this, we're extremely grateful for how hard you all work to make great content, keep kicking ass my man. PIAT stuff helps me stay sane in these dark times, in my book you can miss a few deadlines, I'll stick around.

Julie Wine&Reason

Agreed. You apologise too much. (And if you knew me, you'd know that -- coming from me -- that's really saying something.) Life happens, Noah. Whatever happens, we'll still be here.

As a sword nerd, "Katana means Japanese sword" is extra wrong because like any country that made swords, there are a BUNCH of Japanese swords. The katana is specifically the sword with the curved single-edged blade that's usually in the "medium" size range of Japanese swords. So it's kind of like if you called all swords used in Spain "rapiers" because it's the only sword you've heard of that they used.

Mark Smith

Yeah, go GAM, Noah rocks. Thanks.

Fel Martins

I'll be honest. I didn't notice things were late. Not because I'm not a fan but rather I'm too much of a fan. I've got the regular GAM, the Scathing and Citation. Keeping up is an ordeal unto itself.

The Real Moorey

Been holding off on watching this for the first time, hoping you’d review it, and it would be fresh. Just watched it, and about to listen to the podcast. Can’t wait, such an epically great bad movie 😂

The Real Moorey

Don’t stress on the timing, FFS, love your work. It’s not like we don’t get our moneys worth with the free GAM, let alone the bonus content. It also means a shorter wait to the June bonus. Woot.

The Real Moorey

The boys are already planning a review 🤗

Pterrorsaurus hex

Even after listening: I. Was. Not. Prepared. Wow. *Chef's kiss

The Real Moorey

BTW, if you think it couldn’t get any better...Tommy Wiseau is in Samurai Cop 2...

Pat De Gagne

I love that movie, another amazeballs similar film you guys have to do: “Miami Connection”! A true classic of so bad it’s good cinema. They tried sooooo hard.

Ashley Kennett

Truly awesome movie and review ;D Have to do the second (it is less good bad, but still). On an only very tangentally related note have any of you considered reviewing Ryan Renold's Green Lantern just rewatched and forgot just how amazingly awful it was!

Daniel Nelson

1:29:50 -- I have difficulty believing Eli is not already "that guy" to his neighbors. :P

John & Jimmi

IMDb cast list for this movie for real includes "Rick Garcia as Penis-Grabbing Henchman." Imagine putting *that* on your resume.

tronvillain

Also, there's an even earlier Hollywood Cop.

Shannon Johnson

Oh no Noah, I recognized Evil Cecil as the late-great Robert Z'Dar. Star of such films as Tango & Cash and the Maniac Cop series. He's my second favorite B movie star behind only Joe Estevez.

Shannon Johnson

I second this. I'd also recommend Ninja III: The Domination. AKA Cocaine: The Motion Picture.

Birder Stuart

Thank you to all the heroes who recommended this to the guys. I had to watch it after listening to the episode and I am so glad I did. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as much as at the start of the sword fight where they approach each other from opposite ends of the Appalachian Trail. Please grab yourself a beer, you’ve all earned it.

Wokpuncher

There's a somewhat recent (2014) interview with the star of Samurai Cop (Matt Hannon/Karedas), where he explains some of the crazy "behind the scenes" stories in this movie. The origin story of mantelpiece lion is also there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8830UXkTzY

The Real Moorey

Yeah, saw that. I think he took it a lot more seriously than he pretends he didn’t 😂

Denise Huston

Wow, do I not remember most of the last half of this movie, and I have seen it multiple times.

Marcus

The shortened intro on the feed cuts with an ellipsis: “Between the book and getting ahead for Eli’s paternity...”. My brain immediately supplied the next word as ...test.

Boomclaw the Twice-Dead Kobold

Yeah, I'd rather see another movie by the same director. Amir Shervan and his weird perspective on American cinema are fascinating. In many ways, he really was an alien trying to make Lethal Weapon.

The Real Moorey

Ok, I just watched the sequel....twice. I implore you, don’t bother. They tried to cash in on what made the original great, and just ended up making a really bad movie that didn’t get the original joke. I can’t quite work out of they intentionally made an intelligible plot though, or just failed at that too. It’s not a good bad movie, it’s just woefully bad in a bad way. Very disappointed and baffled.

White-hat Asshole

The way the guys kept saying, "Akamura" or maybe it was "Awkamura" when describing Okamura was kinda bizarre for me. Noah is a proud pedant that can utter the names of unpronouncable European volcanoes, seemingly with ease. I'm sorry, but if you can practice zxkjyfdyunplk enough so you can get a clean take for the record, you can take the 5 seconds to remind yourself that in Japanese, the O makes the O sound.

W. E. Mitchell

Tommy Wiseau did a huge line of bath salts and asked "but what if I fucked my sister?" Samurai Cop 2 is art and perfectly replicates what mixing bath salts and ergot fungus together feels like.

Damion Damaske

I actually worked on, and am in the sequel! Unfortunately, as commenters have said upthread though... It's, uh, not good (not even in a good-bad way)... But the cast was nice at least!
