This week, we welcome Jessica Bluemke Greiff from the Friendly Atheist podcast to the GAM family (Gamily) for a movie about ... nothing happening. Until nothing happens.

Rachel Manente

This is a multiple-read on my bookshelf 😅

Matty B

Yay! Love her.

Nora

So excited to hear Jess on GAM

le stranger

If this doesn't decent into incoherent giggling for minutes on end, I. Will. BE. Disappointed!

Denise Huston

This computer is the one from Willy Wonka. "I can't tell you, that would be cheating."

Thomas J McMullan

Computers smart than people my old Atari 2600 was smarter than me.

Danial Gibson

I double checked to be sure, and yep, Person of Interest was on its third season when this came out. They couldn't even rip off a show on CBS correctly.

SheWhoMustNotBeNamed

I can't wait to listen to this tomorrow. You guys get me through work without having a full blown breakdown. Thank you.

Oxford Comma is Mandatory

Oh god the reviews on IMDB. You can tell the high scores have no clue what they're talking about.

Oxford Comma is Mandatory

As someone who is a software engineer, I refuse to watch this piece of shit. I thought Dan Brown was bad when it comes to tech...

Ryan Enbom

Wow, Jess fit in like she was a regular immediately, including pointing out accidental Christian homoeroticism right away 😁 Is that on the bingo card yet?

Lauren W

...holy shit is this basically shitty Christian technobabble Martyrs?

Simo Hyttinen

Within the first 10 minutes I'm reminded of Bobson Dugnutt. This is going to be good.

This could be a semi good movie with a few changes: The first sumpercomputer was programmed to solve P vs NP. You want to christian it up, so let the supercomputer use "evolutionary programming" and let the programmer be a very sad atheist. But since the solution of P vs NP is so dangerous, the computer will only tell us how it works when it sees good reason to. Here you can go multiple directions. Boring first option: the atheist wants to make money and tries to get the secret from the computer. Computer converts them to christianity and the former atheist uses the computer to help people. Second option: the computer gets an ultimatum: Christian McChristian will be murdered unless the computer will give it's secrets. They try to get Christian McChristian to safety, but Christian trust in the lord and will not be stopped preaching. Meanwhile, the second computer with the same code the friend gets is acting differently, since the friend is a christian and not an atheist. The computer can't get any computing done from the same code. He let's his christian supercomputer try to interact with the atheist supercomputer. Plottwist: the atheist supercomputer was possesed by a demon who tried to kill Christian McChristian all along!!! Or something like that. It would still be predictable and cheesy, but at least you can get plenty of opportunity for preaching, bad atheist arguments, existence of souls debates, converts, stuff like that.

If we can get Marsh to do a whole episode in his US Southern accent, what would it take to get a whole episode with Jess in her "Irish" accent?

Alextomcool

Digital Fortress, bay-bee! I'm honestly kind of sad by my immediately recollection of that novel.

Alextomcool

I'm pretty sure I misread most of this but demon computer, I'm on bored. Now I want to watch Tales from the Darkside.

Patrick Carr

It was Tom Sawyer, not Huck Finn.

Anne the transwoman

Nothing happening has never been funnier. I'd like to ask the writer what the fucking point was.

Vega T Zapper

Humanist Enabling Android Theologian Haywirer - Mr. Enwright was a robot all along :O

Vega T Zapper

H:E:A:T:H (Alma mode engaged) Stop trying to make 'aw beans' work Eli, Gawh!

Iheart Dogs

More Jess! And more Jess' dog. This episode was a treat.

Andrew Dean

So the premise of the movie is that you can’t ask a computer about god because the concept of god cant exist without the concept of humans… 🤔

The Real Moorey

Magnificent! I watched this a few years ago when I fell down a Tubi hole. I actually thought it was too awful to even recommended as a GAM movie to review. How wrong, and also how right I was. Jess was awesome. Patreon goal: Jess and Cara on the one GAM.

Lisorael

More than anything, I want to know why Christian movies are miked so that I can audibly tell when any specific individual needs a drink of fucking water.
