We're getting the August bonus in with fewer than three hours of August left, so thanks for your patience. And enjoy us getting somewhere very close to halfway through M. Night's filmography.

Rachel Manente

So according to IMDB: Although not credited on the finished film, co-writer/producer Will Smith was responsible for much of the movie's direction. M. Night Shyamalan was primarily in charge of the blocking (composition of shots, placement of the camera) and the visual aspects of the film (color and design), and had actually suggested Smith for the supporting role as the father. It was Smith who dictated the development of the story (which he originally conceived) and the onscreen action, and personally coached his own son Jaden Smith in his performance. Both the story and acting were heavily criticized and Shyamalan decided to take the blame.

Thank you for watching this so I will never have to.

Sidewinder

Yes! This movie was hyped up and ended up being so corny.

Ariel Kahrmann

You guys have no idea how much I needed this. I got a Heath laugh in the opening and smiled. Its been a rough day and I needed that serotonin boost.

Sai Like Sigh

Counts for west coast time, you seem fine 🤷🏼‍♂️

El Oso Café

It's spelled M, but it's pronounced Mmmm.

April Poff

THANK YOU. It's been a really rough day. ❤️

Markus D

I first heard about this movie through the YMS review back when it came out, and since then, Jayden Smith's teacher calling him an "ahtstanding" student has lived rent-free in my head.

Rachael Adamczyk

OMG, what a delightful surprise! I was about to scroll through the catalog to look for an old favorite, but here is a new episode!!!!

Kellie Linda

Noah, Heath and Eli are together for this ep *and* we get a callback to one of my fav GAM characters. Magical <3

Grant Cosper

I was going to do the same. I just finished Elizabeth's Gift epi and was thinking of listening to an old before I saw the notification, yay.

Grant Cosper

This sort of counts as a regular GAM doesn' tit? Isn't it sort of a Scientologist movie?

Kristine VanRaalte

I was having a conversation with my daughter last night about when guys don't think that anger is an emotion. Weird.

Kristine VanRaalte

Heath's dad sounds like my step-mother and I know that's cliche', but she was a woman who let EVERYTHING stress her out and she took it out on me and my sisters.

David S.

Don't think anyone mentioned that the reason his sister died but he didn't was because she hid him in that bubble thing. You know, because smell can be blocked by an airtight seal. This entire movie was so borked from it's premise alone, a properly designed suit would've been more effective than training people to feel no fear. I also kind of though fear was on a per-event basis. You can overcome a fear of spiders but still be afraid of heights for example, doesn't seem like everyone who can fight the fear monsters would need to be an asshat.

White-hat Asshole

Ok, Will Smith the performer is charismatic, engaging, and responsive to the other characters (most of the time), but he's certainly not a good actor. Kinda like how Hulk Hogan was a great performer, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone accuse him of being a great actor.

Neptune

I laughed for way too long at "Jeagle".

Erich Sheogorath

I am not watching this to find out how man times he woke up. Not even for Heath.

Markus D

Exactly. We already have space suits, I'm sure we could figure this out as a species. I think Adam from YMS mentioned this sort of thing in his review. I definitely remember him talking about how ridiculous the sealing door in the crashed space ship that formed AROUND a dead body but kept raising again until Jayden pushed it out of the way was; why make something that can form around stuff if it's going to automatically unseal itself when there's an obstruction?

MrHolbyta

Also better than Night's: I must drink beer. Beer is the mind-killer. Beer is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will drink my beer. I will permit it to wash over me and through me. After it has gone, I will look where it has passed and see nothing. Only I will remain.

james devine

Heath, the second blade on a Swiss army knife is to replace the first on you may have dulled and you don't have a wet stone. If you don't have a whet stone, I have no idea what you're doing.

Fluidkaos

Melville also wrote "Billy Bud" which is an erotic novel about the new hot guy on the ship with muscles (Billy) and the spiteful love triangle that forms between Billy, the Captain, and the First Mate. There's also some religious allegory where the Captain = god; the First Mate = Satan; and Billy is Jobe and/or Jesus.

Marcus

Those fear termites are probably pretty good at pinball tho.
