Its february and that means its freezing everywhere except where noah lives so give us your best worst COLD WEATHER movies and we'll undemocratically pick the one that needs a freezer BURN

Comments

Katy Hill

Avalanche Sharks

Ilan Woll

Good movie, but I think Snowpiercer could be interesting

Kajata

Batman and Robin; Arnie as Mr Freeze, firing off ice puns every time the camera cuts to him. What more could you need?

Julie Wine&Reason

Two votes for Day After Tomorrow, best/worst editing and continuity errors.

SenorLorkah

Can't think of any good "Cold Weather" films but it would be great to see you do a review for one of Steven Seagal's films at one point.

keegan

The day after tomarow

Jason Carte

Jack Frost 2 Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman

Dan

The Thing (1982)

Dexter

Cool Runnings

Chonkerooni

Not to mention the chase scene with the ice

Bird Lawyer, Esquire

Definitely going for The Day After Tomorrow because I love your review of The Core so much.

Hypatia

The Nutcracker in 3D, 2009

Sham Hunter

Winter’s tale! Colin Farrell’s stupid hair and the line “I’ve had no memory for as long as I can remember”

Khristle

Day after tomorrow

Sai Like Sigh

Dreamcatcher (based on the Steven King book). It is only 134 minutes and features Donnie Wahlberg.

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

Everyone's going to say Day After Tomorrow but I think 30 Days of Night would be a better (oft-overlooked) pick for you guys.

Mark H

Any of the ice age movies.

GenmuLVLX

Avalanche, due to having a plot driven entirely by people being idiots.

Amy Baloo

Maybe a snowy rom-com? Like, Serendipity, While You Were Sleeping, out The Family Stone? I know some of those are Christmas-y though

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

Also, Die Another Day. Because Bond drives an invisible car through an ice castle while chased by a space laser.

Rick

It's gotta be The Day After Tomorrow. Noah wanted to do it like 5 years ago!

Julien

Oooh I forgot about this one! I second this motion!

TGraham

Cold Zone. It's like Day After Tomorrow but dumber.

BDonz

I was just trying to find the name of the movie with a murderous snowman serial killer and forgot it was something as innocuous as Jack Frost. Only seen the first one, but I highly recommend it for this show. But should these be saved for October or December since it's horror and takes place on (or near) Christmas?

Ada the Muscle Witch

The Christmas Candle. Do you want an entire town resisting modernization because they believe in miracles? Because that's what you'll get

Dreamcrusher

Ice Road (2021). I saw this a few months ago. I thought, it has Liam Neeson and Lawerance Fishburne, how bad could it be? The plot is nonsense, the physics are pure fantasy, and the story revolves around driving semi-trucks.

Teresa Gomez

Pottersville. It has Bigfoot plus furries

Adam Parkin

The X-Files: I Want To Believe (lots of snow and a religious angle with Scully's Catholicism and Billy Connolly playing a paedophile priest)

BDonz

Half of the episode would probably be Eli ranting abiut how Josh Gad stole his career and honestly, I'm all for that. Just realized that you were talking about a different Frozen and the ski lift horror one sounds really good to watch.

Mike Poulin

Have you guys done Deep Impact or 2012 yet

Sean Geist

Not a Cold Weather movie, but Phantoms does take place in a ski resort. And it’s baaad.

Bill Dowling

Batman and Robin, it has Mr. Freeze!

Birder Stuart

Only saw The Day After Tomorrow for the first time recently - definitely second all those suggesting this one.

Rawrbecca

Ice Sharks or Avalanche Sharks

TBoneSF

Surprised you went with "cold weather" instead of the obvious Valentine's Day for the bonus theme. Was looking forward to roasting all the toxic relationships and bad messages in the movie Valentine's Day.

Angie

Three votes!

Patrick Haughton

The Day After Tomorrow seems like the obvious choice but I’d suggest The Grey with Liam Neeson where he literally fist fights a pack of wolves with “brass” knuckles made of broken mini alcohol bottles.

Jabbles

Don't be cruel.

Jessbfd

Jack Frost Maybe a little late for an Xmas movie but it is bad...

Eric Johnson

The 1974 hippie-exploiting Yeti-hunting film Shriek of the Mutilated. The monster looks like Barkley the Dog standing on his hind legs. Plus it has a twist ending.

Dustin Hanson

https://youtu.be/FWuS1FtQZEY The Capture of Bigfoot. It’s B movie shlock filmed in northern Wisconsin. Introduce yourself to Bill Rebane, he has made soo many bad movies you’ve never heard of.

Adam Pope

Day After Tomorrow!!!

You can just think of me as That One Guy

Definitely, positively, no other alternative, The Day After Tomorrow. For starters, Emmerich is currently as topical as he ever gets (i.e. he has a new movie out) and this was as close as he ever came to talking about something true.

Amanda Horne

Snow Dogs. Cuba Gooding Jr inherits 7 sled dogs from his birth mother, and tries to find out about his backstory. He's from Miami, and has to go to Alaska! Can you imagine? Sisqo is in it! Plus, ya know, dogs. There are dogs in the movie. That alone makes it worth watching.

Kaleb Keefe

Check out Winter’s Tale. It’s a bonkers movie that takes place in both the 1910s and the 2000s. Has both Russel Crow and Will Smith (playing a demon and the devil respectively). A horse that is a dog but really a horse. (It’s complicated.)

Mark H

That could make a play for the regular feed!

Ilan Woll

Hot dog: the movie - 80s ski movie which was just copy and paste of every 80s sports movie

Nicholas Monter

Father Frost (also known as Jack Frost (1964)). Rifftrax and MST3K covered it. It has a mean-girl sucking on rooster lollipops. A mushroom man who turns the hero into a bear. And the "hero" falls in love with an underage girl. Also it has Baba Yaga with her chicken-legged house and her flying bucket. It's AWESOME! I genuinely love the movie without the riffs. Bonus, it can be had for Free on YouTube (without the riffs): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAsCujfg7VU

Andrew H

Frozen. Not the Disney movie, the movie about three annoying kids that get stuck on a ski lift after closing and use the dumbest options to escape.

CarrieBoo

Oh man....this one...

CarrieBoo

Or Vertical Limit. This one is a cold mess.

Travis Collins

Part of me wants to do Troll-Hunter, if for nothing else the guys’ collective groan at a found footage movie. But seriously, The Day After Tomorrow or The Thing (no, not the 1982 John Carpenter film, the 2011 sequel that nobody asked for).

Carnifex

I'd put forward The Shining, though Day After Tomorrow is a great choice too

Joshua

The day after tomorrow. A movie that’s almost as bad as the climate catastrophe we’re actually living through.

steven burritt

"eye see you" good imdb trivia and Sylvester Stallone. "Rage of the Yeti" is a syfy special and think of the puns that can be used or tried.

Dexter

This!

Antonio A Barroso

The Thing 2011 is a travesty. But if you want something lesser known, the Troma classic Frostbiter: Wrath of the Wendigo is one of my favorites.

NowhereChrissy

The Grey or Touching the Void. The Grey is Liam Neeson doing action movie stuff in Alaska. Touching the Void is a documentary about a dude who gets left to die by his climbing partner and has to save himself.

Kurt Montandon

How dare you - "Cliffhanger" is a goddamned national treasure.

Kurt Montandon

Yo, Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms.

Kurt Montandon

No, they want to mock stupid stuff, not things that are frickin' awesome.

Kurt Montandon

I dare you guys to do "Groundhog Day." It's February, the movie has loads of snow and being cold, and it'd be fascinating to see you take on an absolutely great and wonderful movie.

HidariMak

The Day After Tomorrow. The fact that it's supposed to be a serious drama about severely cold weather, makes all of the stupidity really stand out.

Amanda

I would feel remiss if I didn't add my vote to The Day After Tomorrow. That scene in the library where those fuckwits burn books while being literally surrounded by wooden furniture is my go-to when I want to experience all kinds of rage. I also feel that it's weirdly a metaphor for the use of fossil fuels.

lil-brudder89

Fire and Ice. It’s a Ralph Bakshi movie and it’s weird as Hell.

Dustin Price

Day After Tomorrow, or Dead Snow (it has Nazi zombies 🧟‍♂️)

Matty B

The Thing from Another World, the movie The Thing was a remake of. Which was based off a book, that was racist as hell (if I'm remembering correctly).

david moreland

While talking Stallone can't feel like Cliffhanger could count as well since they spend most of the movie on the top of a cold ass mountain.

Don Toovey

The day after tomorrow possibly the worst weather apocalypse movie ever made. The science is junk the effects are crap the acting is appalling

ElBoob

Batman and Robin. All the ice puns would probably make Heath very happy.

Canadian Puppeteers

Walk. Ride. rodeo. The Jesus is subtle but the movie is bad.

Kevin Roy

Frozen, not the Disney one, 3 people stuck on a ski lift.

OccasionalGamerMom (Carla)

Far North? I watched it because Sean Bean. Although I'm not sure if there's enough happening in it for a GAM.

Xeciash Vega

The Mountain Between Us. Awful movie

Khristle

While I stand by this, I just learned that there's a movie that just came out by the same guy, but its Hollow Moon conspiracy stuff. Guys should definitely check out Moonfall

Rachael Adamczyk

Agree! The Core is one of my all-time favorite GAM episodes, and The Day After Tomorrow would be amazing.

Rachael Adamczyk

I agree with all of the Day After Tomorrow posts, but I'll throw in a wild card: Cool Runnings

The Younglings Had It Coming

The Thing (2011) Godawful, unneeded sequel to one of the all time great horror films that trades out the original's breathtaking practical effects for $5 CG.

Rebecca Cooper

I take it back. Please do Moonfall. There are plenty of scenes that are in the snow so it counts. Plus, it's available in IMAX.

Cyn R Johnson

Dead Snow! (2009). It’s got snow, really dumb Norwegian med students, nazi zombies, an outhouse and chainsaw hijinks… oh yeah, and a sequel! Enjoy!

cwoodfield

Rebecca and I just saw "Moonfall" and OMG PEOPLE. We haven't seen such absurdities of physics since "The Core". And yes, there is global cooling with the requisite sudden snowstorms, so in fitting with the theme.

Cyn R Johnson

I suggested Dead Snow, but giving up nazi zombies and boobs would be less painful if we get shit weasels instead!

David

Batman and Robin. Mr. Freeze getting the Eli treatment sounds amazing. Also you would hate every last second hahaha.

crystaloftruth

Frozen (not the cartoon) where people get forgotten on a ski lift overnight

James Hall

Another one for Dead Snow. Its the perfect combination of brilliant, terrible and weird.

My PhD is in studying palindromes. I'm Dr Awkward

There’s a terrible horror movie called Frozen about some people stuck on a broken ski lift. Since Noah’s not a zombie guy (he mentioned on a Scathing(?) bit) you might want an alternative to Dead Snow

Claus Hinze

My fiancee says "2010s Frozen, not the Disney one, even though Eli would probably love to talk about the Disney one"

parker burgess

That is why I think they should go with the movie Avalanche

parker burgess

that is funny I just finished the Citation needed ep about him

Benjamin Turner

Please please do The Snowman with Michael Fassbender. They couldn't film like 30% of the script. It's a fun bad movie, you will not be disappointed whatsoever.

Just another fake name

Batman and Robin because I want to hear some Arnold Impersonations. What killed the dinosaurs? The Ice Age!

Mark H

Was it meant to be good, or was it meant to be bad?

Mark H

I forgot about die another day! That has my vote for sure!

Mark H

Die Another Day. Worst Bond movie ever.

RJ Blue

God, I hated this movie so much — the only moment of suspense I had was the 30 seconds I spent Googling whether or not they were going to eat the Labrador Retriever.

Nolan B.

I think these gentlemen review bad movies only.

brokenspoke

The Crawling Eye (aka The Trollenberg Terror) is a great target, but perhaps it has been done to death by others. What about the bald-Bruce-Campbell-athletic-Sean-Astin vehicle Icebreaker?

Nolan B.

I’m sensing another movie will win, but I have to chime in with Batman and Robin. If it doesn’t win this time, it’s an utter travesty that absolutely deserves the GAM treatment. It was awful as a kid and I’m sure has since devolved. It’s also a lot of fun with the cracked-out visuals and insane costumes and dialogue. It’s so over the top and it would be a riot to hear your take on every sequence.

Mark Siefert

Winterbeast… this movie is to winter what Bloodfreak is to turkey.

Ky

Let's give the team a break, surely there's an Avengers movie that has a god and snow or cold weather. Fuck, even a stiff breeze should get a tick.

Ky

Ooh ooh somebody find a cold weather themed porno then sit back and listen to 90 mins of monotone deliveries in hushed, awkward voices. Bah who am I kidding, the listener would be the only one feeling awkward, they'd be lubed up and fine.

Al Yako

Fantastic Planet. If that shit was inflicted on me at 8 years old, then you guys can endure it. Either that or Water ship Down.

Dani Cav

I agree with those saying Frozen(the ski lift movie!) I remember watching it with my coworker and cackling! It’s delightfully terrible!

CarrieBoo

It really should be called "Eaten by Wolves"

Adrian the science enthusiast

There are so many comments, so my apologies if I missed it but I have yet to see the god awful film 2012: Ice Age especially since it played into the bs that the world will end in 2012 bcz of the Mayans..

A.J.

How about Batman and Robin, based on Mr. Freeze.

Amanda

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1523267/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk Arctic Blast. Completely awful, and as far as I can recall, despite the name, the entire thing is set in Hobart (there are very few cities further from the Arctic). I also don't recall any blasting going on. This thing is epic levels of bad.

Olivia Peachley

Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom!! It’s a horrifically 3D CGI monstrosity from 2016. It keeps enough original Lovecraft in to be completely unsuitable for children, but it’s so painfully cutesy and boring that no adult can stand it. It tried to do tim burton style and completely failed. It is the worst thing i have ever watched and it is set in a winter wonderland so … totally counts.

El Oso Café

The Day After Tomorrow. An atheist saves a bible.

El Oso Café

Hey now! Cool Runnings is delightful!

The Godless Trucker & his trusty dog Loki

I'd say either batman & Robin, or day after tomorrow. Batman for the Arnold travesty and Bane. And I've been wanting the other ever since you did the core.

The Godless Trucker & his trusty dog Loki

Btw; remember when you guys did the school shooting movie, and Eli said if the Mel Gibson 'dragged across concrete' came out you'd do it in an instant? I forget, something about abusive cops, but it's on HBO Max now.
