This week, Moishe joins us to discuss the worst selection from the Bond franchise.

General Contact Unit Problem Child

how does this movie qualify for a regular episode? After what happened with the 6th day I was expecting there to be a load of religious content I didn't pick up on as a kid, but I've re-watched it now and its just a regular bond movie.

Markus D

I think it's just for funsies.

tronvillain

It's what happens when Noah is gone. Like The 6th Day or Demolition Man.

B. King

How dare you! You shall not sully the name of Sir Roger Moore, the only Bond awesome enough to also guest on The Muppet Show. 😁

El Oso Café

So you guys are just reviewing any old movie you disagree with politically now? Also Diamonds Are Forever is objectively worse.

Amanda McGuirt

Nah they stray from Christian movies whenever Noah isn't supervising

Markus D

I thought that this movie was called "A View to Kill" until uh... today. How can the James Bond movies be a shared continuity? Is James Bond an immortal being? Is he a time lord?

Jeff Grenet

I'm no expert on Bond films/ books, but I have heard the idea that the name James Bond is the name for 007, so when an agent is assigned 007, they are also assigned the name James Bond. It would somewhat explain why he is so bad with cover names, since he already has one.

tronvillain

It's not a shared continuity. I liked the fan theory "James Bond is just a code name" but the recent movies kind of killed that.

Lukas Jenewein-Gremer

So Noah is gone for one movie and you guys just stray away from religious movies. Typical 😂

General Contact Unit Problem Child

had anyone else not watched a bond film in years and not remembered how ...rapey they are? like I think he uses one of his gadgets to trick a woman into falling onto a bed in like the first 10 min of this.

Syngen

It makes me sad that one of the worst bond movies bond uses my name as an alias.

this fish flies

Wait, is the evil plan in this just fracking? Cause pumping water into an oil thing and making earthquakes- that's just fracking.

THE Mike Miller

Ooh a Mosie episode!!! I wonder if Eli can make it through an episode without saying his real name this time?! (Nope)

Meadhands

Without revealing anything, thanks to Eli's slip-up, I learned Moishe and I grew up in literally the same town. Weird.

Denise Huston

Alison Doody = hot Nazi from Last Crusade, so I guess this movie was a trial run for her being "attracted" to men old enough to be her grandfather.

Grant Cosper

Who is Bill Hooks? DId Eli mean Bill Hicks?

Londyn

No fucking way we get knowing next week?? I literally just watched that for the first time last week and was so disappointed that there wasn't a gam review

J. Vizzle

I ❤️❤️‍🔥❤️❤️‍🔥 Moishe!

Vincent Jorgensen

Anyone else live in the Silicon Valley and checked the maps? I was but a wee lass in 1984, and if I've ever seen this movie, was entirely forgettable. But talk of blowing up my home town is making me anxious. There was mercury mining in the area before it was the Valley of Heart's delight (which is what it was before it was Silicon Valley). I wonder if some coke-addled script writers saw Quicksilver Park in San José, didn't know that quicksilver is another name for mercury, and said Silver! Snort!

Vincent Jorgensen

No way! That poor actress. Having to pretend to be attracted to not one, but two, geriatric Bond actors. I can't imagine the incredible talent required to pull that off, which I lack, but clearly she has.

Vincent Jorgensen

They are lax with Moishe's alias. This isn't the first time it's happened. I wonder if Moishe is only pseudo-anonymous and thus doesn't make a fuss.

Vincent Jorgensen

Three Bond actors! She plays alongside Bronsan in 1988's Taffin!

Daniel Mancini

I may have audibly cheered to myself when it was revealed they would finally talk about Knowing AKA The Weirdest Movie.

Amanda Horne

Moishe episodes are my favorite. He's a real treasure

M R

Did anyone else notice that Roger Moore moored the blimp?

Andre Hebert

To defend bond at Crab shack. Don’t have soft shell crabs here.

Markus D

I specifically remember that in Goldfinger he like... un-gays a lesbian woman, and of course it's rapey because for some reason it seems like prior to the Daniel Craig movies, basically all the sex scenes were some kind of uncomfortable (he probably has some gross ones too, but I don't remember the "vibe" being so off).

Andrew Dean

Old white guy the script treats as spry and virile ☑️ Underage love interest ☑️ Subjugated black person ☑️

Spacecat

So my grandfather might be one of the people this story is based on. At least skiing away from russians with intel

Nicolette

I love hearing Moishe argue the spy movie tropes. Moishe every week!!! Love him so much. Also, I think Eli said his name without a beep….

Panzer

That movie bugged the shit out of me when it came out because there was like, the framework of a good movie there, until it took that super out of nowhere left turn off a cliff.

Anthoni

If there's a completely off-brand movie on the main feed, do we get a religious bonus episode?

Max

Never knew this film existed. Christopher Walken and Grace Jones In a bond film doesn't make sense

Andy Ward

I see the problem here. Where you meant to say "best" that has somehow been mistyped as "worst". This is going to be good. You'd better not be mean about Grace Jones though.

Birger Johansson

Hm, the "worst" Bond film would have been "Diamonds are forever "- Diamonds are not power sources! And the homoohobia did not help.

Birger Johansson

The flaws in this film were softened by Moores soft, humoristic touch. And Walken was a pretty mean Bond villain! Every Bond film is surrealistic so It is hard to make fun of films that do not take themselves seriously (and that is why religious films are perfect targets).

Mark Siefert

That was just a remake of Thunderball, wasn’t it?

Cameron

Eli's Christopher Walken sounds a lot like John Mulaney.

Robbi Prior

yep, he definitely doxed him

Markus D

I never was able to tell if Bond films did or did not take themselves seriously. I feel like at least the Daniel Craig ones took themselves maybe TOO seriously.

Markus D

I feel like he has such a normal name that I don't even totally get why he goes by a fake name.

Uriah Jackson

For some reason, I associate Moishe more with Bourne. Not sure why...

Phoenix Hauser

Andrew Dean said "Old white guy the script treats as spry and virile ☑️ Underage love interest ☑️ Subjugated black person ☑️" ...i just figured out who Gramps in the christian movies is going for

Constance Crisp

I don't understand why they keep saying Tayna Roberts is barely 18. She was 36 when this movie came out. Alison Doody was a teenager, but she wasn't under 18 when filming began in August 1984. I'll let a lot slide in the name of a joke, but this was lazy nonsense. And yes, there is such thing as a double earthquake.
