This week, Jessica Bluemke joins us to see what the Dave Christiano had to offer before mom made Dave bring his brother along, too.

The Real Moorey

Am I the only one who is baffled that early in the movie, black hype man was initially in the harassed office lady’s Bible class, then 10 minutes later, an aggressive atheist who doesn’t know what the afterlife is…and that this wasn’t roasted by the crew? I think I must be imagining plot lines again.

ive been idly speculating about the name Christiano and i think honestly its got to be a pseudo. i think they took the word Christian and added an o thinking to make an appeal to people of color but not wanting to be too closely associated so they went with the whitest poc and tried to sound like they were from Spain. cuz theyre stupid and racist

I think the Jesus saying he's not religious moment was more of a "is water wet" technicality. Jesus doesn't worship himself, which is the main tenant of the religion. It might be more accurate to say he is the religion, particularly as the church is referred to as the body of Christ.

I don't want to "but actually" Jessica, however, the protagonist is the main character, who is focused on and effects the plot the most, not the character who the creators agree with/who represents the moral, so Larry still counts as the protagonist. I got nervous chills from Jess just mimicking the "SHE'S LYING!" bit, fucking hell, I don't get how people are like that...

Prince of Egypt was DreamWorks, not Disney or Pixar.

I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit that I’m sure Lavern & Shirley worked at the “Shotz” beer bottling plant …not a creamery.

This is finally a movie I have seen. My child brain is like it was an ok movie. I wonder what I forgot that makes it a god awful movie.

I just came here to see how many people have already corrected Eli... it's DreamWorks.

CarrieBoo

@Sammi i remember they played that Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey song to *death*

Having seen it relatively recently, it's just a really well-animated, polished-up version of the Moses story (like, they made it a good story with emotional stakes instead of just "Yahweh wants to kill everyone, LOL.") The only particularly bad thing in it is the song that the Egyptian priests have called "Playing With the Big Boys" which I skip EVERY TIME I watch the movie because it literally gives me second-hand embarrassment.

Danilo

I listened to the free version and at the end got a BYU ad - 😝

Prince of Egypt is Dreamworks. It was actually the first film the studio ever released. Then three years later they graced the world with Shrek, a film which (I shit you not) was added to The Library Of Congress for preservation as an artifact of American culture in 2020. So yeah…

Eli should buy the "tipsforboys dot com" domain if it doesn't exist and redirect it to the catholic church's website.
