This week, Marsh joins us for some dental woo.

Denta-WOOO is Ric Flair's new sugar-free, mint flavoured "gun product" (with a "u" just for Marsh)

Vincent Jorgensen

Has GAM ever covered "The Robe" or "Demetrius and the Gladiators"? These are classic Sword and Sandals, and ostensibly the latter is a sequel to the former, but not really. But they are about ahistorical Roman and Greek xtians trying to save Jesus's robe, so it's all quite stupid.

Total Absolutism

Best as I can guess with the Christmas Lights analogy is that they're referencing the old kind where if one light in them wasn't working the entire chain didn't work. But I dunno man, I'm probably giving WAY too much credit.

Markus D

They have NOT covered those! But I'd love to see it.

Vincent Jorgensen

It would be delightful. The Robe isn't that bad a movie! I mean, it's still 1950s pablum, but it was a hit for its studio. Richard Burton! It actually has a real actor in it! He didn't return for Demetrius (as his character dies at the end of the Robe), but Demetrius has Anne Bancroft! X, all these great actors cashing checks. You gotta love to see it!

Mark H

Eli, thank your for speaking for me in this episode. I ALSO find myself susceptible to the bullshit after a while in these crocumentaries, and you snapped out of it at the exact same moment I did.

Mark H

Best worst reaction to turning 40. This rich douchebag didn’t like getting old and went to every quack he could find for a cure until he heard a something he hadn’t heard before.

Michael Nokes

Forever a Marsh fan but as a DO I have to put the correction out there that unlike in the UK - where many DOs function like chiropractors - osteopathic physicians in the US have similar training and equal practice rights to MDs. They don’t fall in the same bucket as naturopaths or the other kinds of quacks he mentioned.

Booman Shadow

Worked as an RN with many DO's over the years. Actually preferred working with them over many MD's.

Theodore Johnson

JD = Juris Doctor, the degree nearly everyone who graduates law school has, like Dr Ted Cruz

Theodore Johnson

I will add that many MD/JD practice medical malpractice law

Cyn R Johnson

This! This is just one of the reasons I love you guys! What a gem this episode is! We’ll done all!

One reason a dentist in the 1800s might have a lot of root canal patients that die is that hand washing wasn't common practice at the time for doctors or dental surgeons. Oddly, the same reason that stabbing the same tooth into multiple rabbits might spread the same illness among them.

Lexy

So I've had three root canals—any word on whether the amount of time I've got left is linear, logarithmic, or exponential based on how many I've had?

Sam

I need to know what happened to business walruses marrage, where thier issues resolved? Did he get the support from his friend that he wanted? Did he discover something new about himself that budded into something beautiful? I NEED TO KNOW!!!

Henri

I know it's been years, but I just listened to this episode and I'm so fucking grateful for that perspective because I'm one of those dumbasses who falls for stupid shit if I hear enough about it and the speaker sounds reasonable. I had to stop listening to a conspiracy explanation podcast because at the end of it they asked themselves how likly the theory was and the answer was always "maybe or possibly true" so I had a moment where I started beliving humans evolved from water beings, not apes, because we are smooth (like a shark)... The moment lastet 10 minutes but I knew myself well enough to stop there and find some other podcast to listen too.
