Sorry about the late drop this week. Heath was kidnapped.

I never thought I'd hear Eli say he found a kidnapping boring!

Donovan "Ravenhull"

Hey Eli, you thought rotary phones were scary, let me tell you of true horror. "Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery."

Akamai

Dammit! It's 11:45 PM on a work night. Now I've got to stay up and listen. Your fault, guys.

Christopher Dalpe

Are we getting content at the same time as the proletariat freeloaders? I demand revolution!

I can feel Noah's pain regarding Eli's ability to cite ancient TV ads. I was born in 74 and using references like "Calgon take me away" and "Ancient Chinese secret" provokes from others looks of confusion or nostalgia followed by deep sadness.

Ah "Reggie's Prayer!" Like Eli I have no knowledge or interest in Sportsball but since I was born and raised in Wisconsin where the Packers are the state religion I can't even go to my friendly local game store without hearing about these jocks. Reggie White was the 90s equivalent of Tim Tebow (only talented) and this movie was BIG local news when it was announced. Did anyone remember Reggie's horrifically racist speech to the state legislature that was just a list of ethnic stereotypes?

Regarding that thing about McDonald's, in the 1970s, they weren't as dominant as you might think. They were still expanding into different parts of the country at that time, so not everyone would be familiar with the brand. They were closer to like a Hardee's. A lot of it depended on what part of the country you were in. A family member who grew up in the 60s and 70s always told me that, in Maryland at least, McDonalds wasn't the fast food chain that was everywhere until the late 70s. Until then, that honor belonged to Gino's, a local chain started by ex-Baltimore Colt, Gino Marchetti.

In the remake of this the ransom should be bartered down with coupons and eventually paid in full with gift cards. Then have the kidnappers still get screwed when they find out the husband just drew a bar code on the back of a get out of jail free card from monopoly.

"Mildly Detained For Ransom" would be a better title, Airport Security keeps you longer than this, and they want more money!
