Timothy Lehnerer

There was a time when I'd seen this movie more times than years I'd been alive. Thankfully I aged out of that bracket eventually.

Michael Duchek

Someone once pointed out that the same studio owned the rights to Both Men in Black and Ghostbusters, and that they therefore should remake Plan 9 as a crossover.

Scott Lesch

"Vampira"was from my town , Gloucester, Ma. There was a large Finnish population here. Perhaps Maila Nurmi didn't want to work in granites quarries or fish packing industry.

Amy Maua

Heath’s “um, because of death” did not get the attention it deserved. Bravo, sir!

Denise Huston

He did porn, but it was not under any circumstances good.

General Contact Unit Problem Child

I always wondered if Ed Wood made this because he saw the Day the Earth Stood Still and thought "what this needs is zombies"

Pterrorsaurus hex

I feel like those of us who listen to D&D minutes appreciate Ed's insecurities concerning the square room on a round ship.

One of the alien’s comments in this film implies they believe in God, and that raises a lot of questions. If a Baptist Church is involved with this joint, that explains it a little.

Oxford Comma is Mandatory

I'm pretty sure that 'going balling' back then meant to go to a ballroom for dancing.

Vincent Jorgensen

I only watch this movie while drunk, and I don't drink anymore. Wonder if it works with edibles?

Drunkarius

"In a war with a door like Riker" is such a Star Trek deep cut, and I hate myself for getting it instantly.

Erik Alsman

Hoping for Night of the Living Dead next 😁

I love love love this movie so much. The part I relate to the most is when Eros points out the dangers of solarmanite ("sunlight has lots of atoms", uh, no it does not Eros, I have proof). Then one of the dopey humans considers the military applications. Eros loses his shit and screeches, YOU SEE? YOU SEE?! YOUR STUPID MINDS! STUPID! STUPID! before Gregory Walcott lays him out. That moment, right there, is a perfect encapsulation of humanity. Francis Ford Coppola could never reach such heights, even in Apocalypse Now.

Also, GAM might be interested to know that one of the porn movies Wood did was about necrophilia. Some guy fucking a cute chick in a coffin. Apparently that was kinda a kink for Wood (as in, he liked the idea, but AFAIK didn't actually do).

Just so we're all clear on this: you guys *are* watching Flash, or we riot.

Off-label Botanist

I had no idea about this film and the director's legacy. Thank you for enlightening me

Not at all, she wanted to create a gimmick that she could in the future sue a vaguely similar but much more successful gimmick. To this day Elvira is still a class act about it.

I so desperately want you guys to review “Verotika” the Glen Danzig written and directed anthology film. It’s incredible how inept that film truly is and when it was premiered, people laughed and Glen Danzig allegedly got a little upset about it. So it’s a sincerely a “so terrible it’s good” film.

Paige Benjamin

So fun fact about the 'morgue wagon' before the 1970s the US didn't really have Emergency Medical Services, and transport for patients who couldn't transport themselves to or from hospital was done either by a police wagon or local funeral homes. So that would be why it has lights and sirens, why they were running them towards the graveyard is inexplicable.

Markus Nävergård

Ed Wood made a transsexuall movie where a man turns into a woman, for its time it was rather progressive if i remember.

Markus Nävergård

yeah, being a grave digger myself. if you are easily spooked, do not work as a gravedigger. some of the graves we´ve been digging has been in older cementeries and there can be alot of Bones. Also torg was Norwegian.

Markus Nävergård

and yes, we do put the name on the casket. so we know th eoriantation to place the casket on funneral and when it is to be buried because there is a christian tradition that the corpse should face the east because Jesus is to come from the east or something

Markus Nävergård

as for Bela Lugosi, he likely was high as a kite during this movie. He had a terrible drug addiction.

Atomic Squirrel

I think it’s “bowling.” You can’t bowl after 9. “Balling” would have a different meaning in the 1950’s, and the Christians would probably have objected.

Catboyslim

Yeah Elvira had a great schticky act with Kabuki drag style eye makeup, and hosted B movie horror classics. I don’t think Vampira had an act, and the Adams family and Munsters used that same look, long black goth dress with long black hair, etc. Plus every local tv station had a Dracula or a ghoul like character that would host b movie horror classics in the afternoon or late night for the kiddies or teens stuck at home, so I don’t understand Vampira’s claim to this I.P.

Steve Wynter-Murdoch

I love it when the guys do their "50's" voices! It always cracks me up! 🤘

Alliterated Liberated Lilith

Same… I love my plates on a string action!!!!! Oh god I am crying at that point every time- you could read a phone book to me after and I’d still be dying laughing… Oh shit- remember phone books ?!

Denise Huston

Ed Wood's set dressing lends a lot of creedence to the weather balloon Roswell incident, if the average 1940s/50s person thought the presence of a light was sufficiently alien to pass for sci-fi.
