Brad, have you ever toyed with introducing a Wendy and Marvin style “annoying teens…er…college students” who hang out at Evil Inc.? Maybe college interns.
The Marvin-expy could be so annoying and dumb that Wendy never bothers to step in when Dr. Muskiday uses Marvin as a guinea pig for some experiment.
I have! — that’s when I introduced the college aged heroes from the Masters Institute… Octo-Lad, Ghost Girl, etc. And before that, it was the Try-Outs storyline that introduced Dragonelle and Mystic Apprentice. 😃
Yeah, I see it now. Dragonelle and Gadget Girl in the Wendy role, and Whistle Blower in the Marvin role of getting humiliated.

And in reality, the Logan Theater has been renovated and restored as the Cicely Tyson Theater on Broad Street.
Part of me wants to pay Brad to draw a commission where Miss Match is sitting in a sports bar, head in her hands, as the Phillies get blown out of the playoffs on the TV in the bar.
Honestly Brad, this would have been the best way to end the current version of Evil Inc. and then slide into a new reboot.
When you drew editorial cartoons at the Canton Rep, Brad, how much freedom did you have in choice of subjects? I.E., if you wanted to do a story criticizing the county commission giving tax rebates to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but your boss wanted a cartoon about a corruption scandal in the Mayor’s office, who won?
It’s a great question! Back in the day, the paper would have covered both pretty thoroughly, and would have ended up doing a cartoon about each story! 😀
Who won? My little ink-stained heart says the citizens of Canton, Ohio, did. 😀
That “police brutality” cartoon was the only thing that turned up on Google when I asked for examples of your political cartooning, in case you were wondering why I chose that one, and even that was from a 2021 retrospective by the Canton Repository about the paper’s history.

That was scratchboard. You started with a special illustration board with a layer of black over a layer of white, and you’d use X-Acto knives, awls, and other tools to scrape the black and expose the white underneath.
And how much for a scratchboard commission of Miss Match bonding with the Venom symbiote?
