Hey friends, hope your February is going well! A few quick updates.

  • All rewards for 2022 have (finally) been completed! If you're missing anything from last year, feel free to shoot me a message.
  • January's PDF downloads are up, the first in this new style. Check out Camp Sights and You Meet On the Road.
  • The February Patron-only livestreams will be on Monday, February 20 at 9:00a MT (8:00a PT/10:00a ET) and 7p MT (6p PT/9p ET).

A few folks mentioned in the 2022 survey that they were unable to ever attend weekend streams, so we're doing a Monday this month in hopes of catching a few folks who haven't been able to attend before! (For those of you who can only attend on weekends, have no fear — we'll be doing a weekend again next month.)

Stay tuned for two new merch announcements coming this month!

As for the villains... let me know in the comments which of these sounds the most exciting/useful to you!

  • Spooky corrupted "mother" villain with faceless living-doll children minions
  • Amalgam undead villain with imp minions that leech your will to live
  • Horror swamp ooze villain with gremlin minions who drag you into the mud
  • Dog fey who defends the forest with minions who make toxic moss grow on you

Aisling Tanner

Oooh the undead and the mother sound cool!

Kaitlyn Von Hausen

I also adore the sounds of a "mother" with her faceless golem children

Iain

Horror swamp ooze sounds awesome!!

Danny Faust

Ooo. Tough call. They all sound amazingly creepy. But, I'm going with the spooky "mother" villain because, well, children are creepy and faceless golem children are even creepier!

Schruka

I'm gonna be the first one to say dog fey because I love the concept of moss growing on players!

Michael Dahn

Spooky Mother sounds great for the adventure I’m about to start, but I also love animals as characters in a game. Those have my votes.

Jonathan & Megan Pierson

Well, crap. I like the sound of all of them. If I had to rate them in order of interest though, I'd say 1: mother, 2: dog fey, 3: swamp ooze, 4: amalgam undead.

Aleph Sharp

Definitely the dog fey, theres a lot to be careful of in regard to misusing golems that Im always wary of, not that I dont trust you, it could happen accidentally. Plus the dog fey sounds really cool. Im just always uncomfortable with a golem being used as a d and d monster to fight, especially specifically called a golem, made out of stone or clay. If not the dog fey, Id say the ooze.

I don’t plan to call them golems, it was just easy shorthand for a fabricated creature animated by magic. My apologies.

Ah ok. I have a whole discussion about what golems are vs them being used for just fabricated humanoid creatures. I appreciate the care. thats much more interesting in that case, Id say as long as you dont use any of the language d and d uses vis-a-vi golems, Id put that after the dog fey, followed by the ooze. Also excited for the new merch, and to finally be able to attend a stream again!

Kalcheus

The spooky corrupted mother

Hayden Olson

Horror swamp ooze villain with gremlin minions who drag you into the mud

Kalcheus

Also, I wonder if the new merch is a baseball cap and water bottle, or if Ginny is throwing a little misdirection at us

Bennett Hobson

Horror swamp ooze sounds the most fun to me!

Jay

I would have to say Spooky Corrupted Mother + Horror Swamp Ooze are my faves!

Ix

The mother villain sounds hella cool!

Dusty

Fey Watchdog sounds awesome, although in a game recently one of our players was chosen as a sort of surrogate by a "mother" figure and she's now being hunted and every time they get too close my dm puts on a minor/creepy rendition of "baby mine" from Dumbo and honestly I'm adoring the vibes.

Sara J Wimmer

The mother one will haunt me in my nightmares, thank you

Shalafina

Swamp ooze or dog fey

Adam Markle

Eco-Terrier FeyDog FTW !!!

Steven Lanzarotta

The mother villain and the swamp ooze seem like really good fits to the CoS game I'm running.

Luka Murphy

They're all intriguing, but...canine fey creature. You could develop a fantastic slow-burn sense of dread doing through the dark forest, passing moss-covered 'statues' in various poses of writhing agony or blind panic. You slowly come to realise these were all former adventurers that disregarded Forestlore and are left as living effigies, a warning to those that still choose to come.

Kazuma128

I really like the mother villain. Something about that sounds kinda primal and uncanny valley to me at the same time. It would make a good horror theme villain ^_^.

Kenzie

Oooh, that's a tough choice. Mother villain sounds creepy AF, but the Fey dog would be so great to like lure in a party and then SUDDENLY ATTACK!

Josh Hall

Mother villain!!! But fey dog would also be a good one. :)

Derek Bastille

The dog fey sounds pretty cool. "Who's a good doggy? Who's a good .. YAAARRGH!"

fishbananas .

Mother villain! Thinking wicked stepmother meets 'Other Mother' from Coraline. And the Shademother from Bells Hells! 👻

apollosukulele

Liking the creepy mother the best, but the fey dog would fit in so well with the campaign I'm running at the moment

Joe Bogart

The creepy mother with golems can best fit within my campaign style. .

ChemGeek - Tim

Afternoon! The creepy mother one or the dog fey, both sound like neat and creepy ideas!

Vega

That twisted mother villain who controls an army of faceless doll children would be sUper helpful! that’s a similar idea to a character backstory I had and I’d love to see someone else’s take on it :D This faceless doll child is on the run from ~MöTHeR~

ShadyFellowes

Either the Fey Dog thing, or Mother Knows Best
