So Glad you guys are watching this!!! You’re absolutely right. It came out around the Time Twilight & TVD came out , so it’s all of a piece. A more camp, queer, adult Twilight. I think the author of the Sookie Stackhouse book s Charlene Harris was also a huge fan of Anne Rice so all the influences are there. It’s also by the showrunner who did the amazing five season show Six Feet Under for HBO as well . This takes me back to 2008 !!

Omg, my beloved True Blood 😩 how I still miss this show. Even after all these years. I watched it from the premiere episode all the way back in 2008, down to the very end, as they aired. And it’s safe to say that for me, It was love at first bite ❤️🩸🫦I’ll pay double for you to drop three episodes a week instead of two. Hell, make it triple 😂 and no offense to Twilight, which I like, but this show, it’s themes, characters and vampires are much, much more complex (all hail show runner Allen Ball who did another favorite show of mine right before this called Six Feet Under which also has queer representation just like True Blood), and True Blood leans way more into camp and horror, than Twilight ever dared to. Much more in common with Interview With The Vampire than Twilight, including lgbt representation. Which in 2008 was a very bold move for a show, even on HBO. It's also safe to say that this is vampire media made strictly for 17+, no tweens allowed. 😏Oh how I love it for that 😂

As someone with Porphyria and I was born on Halloween night I never got into this show. Yes I realize I have said this on here a long time ago but Porphyria is what inspired vampires believe it or not Many of us are unable to go out in the sun We have to be careful of foods high in sulfur like garlic We also get infusions of heme But other cool stuff about us is we require a high carbohydrate diet of healthy carbs But the negative is it is a very very rare chronic condition and there are about eight different types of Porphyria and the one I have is pretty freaking rare And it is also very painful and during attacks it requires hospitalization and it is a nightmare an absolute nightmare So I try to share about it as women are especially misdiagnosed a lot because we lose a lot of weight due to eating during an attack can make the attacks worse yet we have to eat and are not able to fast and also a huge amount of medications can trigger severe attacks so doctors are always unable to diagnose Porphyria patients easily. During an attack an IV of saline with dextrose can help calm down a severe attack It took nearly a decade for me to get diagnosed and my dad was diagnosed after me and he was sick for thirty years being misdiagnosed So it has been a heck of a diagnosis time Anyways my rambling point is I never ever got to enjoy this show and I am now going to sit down and enjoy it with you both and everyone in The Petty Pumpkin Patch🎃🧛‍♀️🦇🧛‍♀️🎃
