I’m at 1:26 in the film and as far as I understand it Ray realizes from Colin’s behavior the night before that he wasn’t keeping up with his side of the bargain as the dom. I’m not into that lifestyle myself, but my understanding the the dom is responsible to take care of his or her sub, and he realized that Colin needed some care and he, Ray, had been negligent in not providing it. It may look one-sided from the outside, but in accepting Colin’s devotion Ray was also accepting responsibility.

This was a good movie and I was expecting him to show up too. I cried at the end for Ray. Like wtf happened to him that he couldn’t get close? I’ll always be wondering. He didn’t just ghost Colin, he left his whole life behind and his community. So sad. Also, the tattoos must be his dogs bc one of them was Rosie, his current dog.

Harry Melling resembles his late grandfather Patrick Troughton, the second Doctor Who, so much it's downright uncanny. This movie really played with my emotions throughout. It took several unexpected turns and subverted my expectations. Kudos to those who find fulfillment in an arrangement/relationship such as the one depicted here. It's just not for me. That ending left me in tears and my heart ached for Colin. I hope he found happiness with Darren.

Well if you notice in the first scene of Collin at Rays house, he wears a wedding ring on a chain around his neck. They never overtly show it and it’s never mentioned and gets replaced with the key to Collin’s lock, but the moment I saw it I knew it had a meaning. Maybe this was it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

No kink shaming or lifestyle shaming between two consenting adults, but I just don’t get it. It doesn’t feel like bdsm to me, it just feels like someone is being treated like shit and it kind of pisses me off, even if both people are agreeing to it. Yeah I’m not currently in a bdsm relationship, but have a lot of experience, and the judgement sucks. Pillion was definitely not a depiction of a completely healthy D/s relationship, but *most* of what occurred between Colin and Ray was normal and fine, they just wanted something different, and seemed to fail at communicating. Wes and Chey were pretty respectful though.

Holy Skarsgard. 🫠 I also never knew Harry Melling could sing like that. He was so good as Colin. This was kind of a a bdsm Call Me By Your Name to me. Not just because of the dramatic tension in the relationship, but also the mood and some of the filmmaking choices. The heavy chain and padlock collar is pretty common in the gay bdsm community. A submissive’s head being shaved is also significant, it symbolizes them giving up complete control of themself. It would have been nice to see Ray shaving Colin’s head or collaring him. Those are very emotionally weighty events and it’s a little frustrating that a lot of the story of their dynamic occurred offscreen. I wonder if Ray was inexperienced being in a committed D/s relationship, or if there was some trauma that made him unable to engage in a more emotionally open dynamic. Skarsgard’s performance was fantastic, especially after the kiss, when his eyes went from open and vulnerable to troubled, and then completely closed off. It would have been nice to have had the closure of Ray leaving his key behind for Colin. Heartbreaking, but it’s even worse that he vanished without a trace and Colin eventually must have had to get the collar off himself. The part where Colin took the bike and its aftermath made me so uneasy. It was chaotic and the “day off” didn’t truly seem like a happy or good thing to me. Taking the bike was completely unhinged, and Ray rewarding him with a day off afterwards seemed equally unhinged to me, especially with Ray’s personality shift. Then again it could have been an unreliable narrator moment. Ray did seem less serious and more fun loving at times, like the birthday surprise/camping trip, and maybe Colin’s view of him was so worshipful he didn’t really see his humanity until that day off. Idk. 😅 It was a beautiful movie though and I do love that Colin did find community and himself during his journey.

I actually love that colin and ray didnt end up together. I think they clearly want different things and i also think ray needs to do a bit of work on himself before engaging in another relationship.and just from that short scene at the end i think darren is going to be a way better match. i also think that its obvious colin enjoys the lifestyle, he just needs a dom who also takes care of him. I really like this movie and i think this movie coming out in a time were a lot of people are really weird/puritanical about sex is such a breath of fresh air. Also like the fact that a lot if the extras from the kink scene are actual people who engage in it irl. But i will say that i hope ray is not supposed to be english. Because this is the third movie ive seen alexander try to do a british accent and honey... he needs a dialect coach. I love him though.
