People have written essays on the psychology of Kara Thrace. Without spoiling a future episode that delves more into her past, suffice it to say, despite her outward demeanor, at her core is emotional vulnerability, insecurity and self doubt. She believes she's a screw up, only hurts the people she loves the most, and doesn't deserve happiness or unconditional love. She was unable to allow herself to be loved by Lee. Anders was the safer option, emotionally.

They shacked up with the various people they had available because they could die at any moment. Lee and Kara relationship is almost more sibling like than anything, their connection can't really be categorised. You ever see that film Lost in Translation, it's a bit like that I've never really blamed the characters more the circumstances. I mean it's a horror film. It's very a much love the one you're with thing to gain some small measure of peace.

This episode is extra sweatier and snotty looking than usual. 😆 Also they were never seen this happier, actually joyful. It's surreal and really melancholy. And New Caprica looked nice during the short summer.
