⚙️How to Fix the Sky & Daylight Bug on Minecraft 1.21.11+ (and 26.1 / 26.2+) (Patreon)
Content
If you are playing on Minecraft versions above 1.21.10, you might have noticed a visual bug where the sky stays permanently dark during the daytime. 🌑
This bug specifically affects these newer versions:
1.21.11
26.1 (formerly known as 1.22)
26.2+
This happens because Minecraft changed how datapacks work in these recent updates. The old worldpainter.zip datapack (which we use to increase the height limit of the maps) doesn't include the new required data for these versions, causing this lighting glitch and other ones. ⚙️
To fix this, you just need to replace the old datapack with the updated version I am providing in this post. However, please read the instructions below! 👇
🚨 READ BEFORE UPDATING 🚨
YOU MUST DELETE the old worldpainter.zip file from your datapacks folder BEFORE adding the new one!
If you leave both datapacks in the folder, they will conflict and may delete everything outside of the vanilla build limits (like the tops of massive mountains).
📝Step-by-Step Fix:
First, check the build height of the map you are using (usually Y: 1024 or Y: 2032) by looking at the "More information about the map" section on the map's original post. (Note: If you can't find this information, you can simply just add the 2032 datapack—it won't affect your map! 📏
Go to your world's save folder and open the datapacks folder. 📂
Find and DELETE the file named worldpainter.zip. 🗑️
Download the new updated datapacks.zip attached to this post. ⬇️
Drag and drop the new worldpainter.zip file into the folder. 📥✅
Load your world and enjoy the normal sky! ☀️
