Also the save directory is still named βminigame_1-1704196768β and I had to search in rpy files to find it
Thank you very much for your feedback. We will definitely take it into account for Update 0.2 :)
A quick update for today. The team got together and discussed what else weβd like to tweak. Weβve decided that we want to make Liliane look a bit βmore delicateβ visually. She should look more like a 23-year-old whoβs currently feeling really exhausted and desperate.
Weβll also definitely be adding games of chance like βdice rolls,β and we think the suggestion to fill the bar with a bit more activity is great.
Today Iβm working on building and preparing all the new locations in 3D. I always do this so I have a good reference for different perspectives and events.
Hey, everyone.
Today Iβm working on tweaking Lilianeβs visuals. Yesterday evening, we came up with an insanely cool expansion to the story. Although it wonβt be ready for a while, weβre already looking forward to working on it later. Phil is already preparing the lore for this branch of the story, while Viktoria is working out all the details.
Great news, I like Liliβs new design direction, itβs a coherent choice
Thank you :)
My goal is to make everything a little more logical and, above all, more in line with the story. Of course, the initial feedback was crucial in sparking many, many, many ideas. Thank you so much for that.
Sorry I didnβt post any news yesterday, it was just unbelievably hot here, so we decided to take the day off since we couldnβt really be productive anyway.
No problem, the heat was unbearable these last few days
Today I spent the whole day drawing the background of the tailor shop. Lord, itβs driving me crazy. So many details. And Iβm still not done. :(
Iβm sure the result will be great. Good luck!
Thank you very much. Weβll definitely do our best. Iβll give you a VERY rough timeline now. Iβd like to finish Update 0.2 by the end of the week. I canβt say for sure yet whether Iβll make it or not, but the end of this week or the middle of next week would be the latest Iβm planning on.
Well, please donβt be surprised.
I originally planned to prepare about 20 images for the new update, which is why I was so optimistic about the release. OF COURSE, I somehow ended up expanding it a bit by βaccidentβ.
Now I have a total of 21 folders, each containing at least 2 to 3 images. Of course, this includes updates to the old images featuring Lili, but also many new ones related to the new events. Iβm currently in the process of adding the images I already have to the game and, of course, finishing up the rest. Iβm really sorry that it ended up being a bit more than originally planned. Iβll plan things a little better for the next update.
Itβs ok. Take the time you need, quality over quantity !
Hey, howβs development going?
Sorry for the late reply! Sadly, some bureaucratic stuff took way longer than expected this time and pushed me back by almost two whole weeks. But weβre slowly moving into the script phase now, since the sketches are basically 99% done. So yeah, progress is happening again. :)
Do you still plan to create a Discord server? It could be a great way to communicate, share ideas, and give people some teasers and devlogs.
Hey, Phil here! π
I know itβs been a little while since the last update, so I wanted to give you a small update on whatβs currently happening behind the scenes.
Right now, weβre heavily focused on the upcoming Krom update. Besides continuing to work on the story, characters and overall atmosphere, weβre also putting a lot of attention into introducing a completely new gameplay mechanic. We donβt just want to add something for the sake of having another feature the goal is to make it feel like a natural part of Krom and give you more ways to interact with the world.
Because of that, weβre taking our time testing ideas, changing things that donβt feel right and making sure the new mechanic actually adds something meaningful to the game. Weβd rather take a little longer and release something weβre happy with than rush an update that doesnβt live up to what we have in mind.
We know the wait between updates has been longer than we originally wanted, and we really appreciate everyone who is still following the project, checking in and supporting us while we work on it. β€οΈ
Thereβs also something else weβve been preparing: the official Discord server is coming soon.
Iβd also like to ask all of you a question:
What is most important to you when it comes to Krom?
What would you personally like us to focus on more in future updates?
- Progressing the main story
- Introducing new characters
- More gameplay mechanics and mini-games
- More 18+ content
Of course, we want to keep a good balance between all of these, but Iβd really like to know what youβre most interested in seeing.
Your feedback helps us understand what you enjoy most about the game and what youβd like to see more of in the future.
Thanks for the updates! I check Patreon regularly specifically for this project because I really think it has a lot of potential.
Thanks for considering creating a Discord too, I think it would be a great way to bring the community closer together around the project.
And to answer your question, personally, in order of priority, Iβd love to see more gameplay mechanics and mini-games first (as long as theyβre rewarding), then more progress on the story, and more H-content.
Hi, how are things going ?
Hey hey : )
Well, things are going pretty well! Weβre currently in the final stages of polishing and adjusting everything for 0.2.
The game now has quite a few new mechanics and systems in place, although some of them are still just the foundation for things we want to expand much further in future updates.
One funny thing is that what originally started as βaround 18 new imagesβ somehow turned into 621 new visual assets over the last few months. π
Of course, those arenβt all full event illustrations β that number also includes icons, items, effects, UI elements, smaller story shots and similar assets β but it still shows how much the scope of the update has grown.
Right now, weβre also working on making the UI much more consistent across the whole game. I still have a few final story shots to finish, some smaller adjustments to make, and then Iβd like to run the final internal test this weekend.
So overall, weβre definitely in the final stretch now.
Iβll post a much more detailed overview shortly before the 0.2 release, including everything that has changed and been added.
Quick Personal Feedback on 0.2
Gameplay & Minigames
Maybe add a button to slightly speed up time during service as a purchasable upgrade?
Slightly increase the size of the icons and text in the order book for better readability.
Random events during service could be fun, both gameplay-wise and for spicy moments. For example, a big group suddenly showing up and disrupting the flow of service, broken dishes, spills, etc.
The combat system looks interesting, and I like that it seems engaging!
Some customer sprites occasionally overlap during the tavern minigame.
Story, Characters & Art
I really like Liliβs new design and the new look of the town. The new characters are also interesting, and the humor hits right.
Iβm also enjoying the new H-scenes, especially how naturally they fit into the story rather than feeling forced or out of place.
The art style feels a bit inconsistent at times, especially with Liliβs and the MCβs faces. Itβs particularly noticeable in BΓ©atriceβs first appearance and the tailor shop event, where their face cut-ins look like theyβre from a completely different, much cuter art style.
The difference is also noticeable between the post-0.2 dialogue scenes and the newer ones. Character proportions and facial features also seem quite different in dialogue events featuring greyed-out or sepia-toned sprites.
Bugs
No bugs encountered during my playthrough!
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think this update lays a solid foundation for the future of the game. Thereβs a lot of potential, and Iβm looking forward to seeing how things develop from here.
Great job to the whole team!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! Your feedback is genuinely helpful.
Weβve noticed the customer sprites overlapping in the tavern minigame too. Iβd like to revisit the whole minigame, but I wasnβt sure what its final form should be yet. We decided to release this version and see how it felt to players first. Iβve also noted your suggestions about the order book and a way to speed up service.
And random events during service? Absolutely :) Those are planned, though theyβll start appearing at a certain point in the game. I want the tavern and its challenges to develop gradually and feel natural.
Iβm completely with you on the art style. The little character close-ups we call βstory shotsβ were an idea we added quite late, and we liked them so much that their style will guide the characters going forward. Iβll go back and make the existing character art more consistent too. Believe me, the differences hurt my eyes the most! xD
It makes me especially happy that you enjoyed the H-scenes and story shots, and that you didnβt run into any bugs. If you spot anything later, please let us know.
Thank you again for your support and such thoughtful feedback. As a thank-you, Iβd love to add a character based on your wishes in a future update <3
Alex
So if I understand correctly, youβre planning to use these shots as future reference?
Personally, I like it but itβs a much more βanime-inspiredβ and cute art style. I think I prefer the more mature and slightly more βsevereβ look of the other style, and I feel like it fits Liliβs character better especially.
And no worries, happy to help if my feedback is useful. Thanks a lot for your offer! Iβll think of a character who could fit well into the story π
Well, iβm aiming for a mix of the two. I donβt want the art to lean too far into anime, the main influence should be that βEuropean superhero comic bookβ look, with just a touch of anime style.
Itβs been tricky to settle on one direction while trying out different things, but the team agrees on that overall look. Iβm still finding my rhythm with it, and I think the style will become more consistent as I go ^^
