Saturday Update! (Patreon)

Hello and good morning! It's another hot and muggy morning here

I ended up taking the week off, so I'm afraid I don't have any Lawrence related updates for you guys ^^; But I got up to some other stuff and had a nice mental break from slamming my head against the same script nonstop forever.

I started with a camping trip last weekend with friends a few hours away in Rowley, AB

It's this tiny little ghost town with just a few people still living in it, and they let people camp in the town once a month! They do free tours of the historic buildings they preserved and sell fresh made pizzas :D They volunteer and work together to keep the electricity/plumbing stuff going in the little town.

There was a live band playing country music as we waited for pizzas, and the pizzas were super delicious. It was a great time!

The next thing I did was finally get to work on my bedroom wall project. I've had the supplies ready for weeks, but I just never had time to do the work ^^; My bedroom is technically a den, and it's just kind of this plain green box. I've been wanting to do wood slats on a wall in there since I moved [ I use my apartment's actual large bedroom as my office, that's where I need space ]

It took about 8 hours of solid work, split over two days, and I ran out of slats 🙈 [ Got a little too confident in my math skills and didn't double check... ] I ordered more... I'll have to finish it when I get them later.

But this is what I got done so far:

I think it looks pretty cool! So far!! Eventually when it's done I want to hang fake ivy and string lights at the very top.

The last thing I have to share is about Love Like Drowning [ https://www.amazon.com/Love-Like-Drowning-serial-romance-ebook/dp/B0H3WQDC1Z ]

I did some fun little sketches of the main characters Gregory and Sinclair:

And I showed them to Car, the author, and they told me they've been trying to find someone to draw a new cover for the book, and I volunteered 😅 PLEASE DONT BE MAD AT ME

I just really love this book and I think doing the cover would be so fun, and honestly... I think it would be good for me, mentally, to break up the monotony of working on my game for a bit. I was thinking of maybe taking Fridays in my week to work on the cover until that's done.

It shouldn't end up taking too much of my time overall! It would bring me joy....

I've already scribbled out several mockups:

But we've pretty much settled on this one, at least for the front cover:

I like this one the most personally because it's an actual scene early in the book that readers can enjoy ☺️ And it's different from your usual dark romance cover

I think I've possibly made a breakthrough on the migraine issue. I heard recently that cocoa can trigger them? And I, just recently, around the same time as my headaches got worse, started eating overnight oats every morning with 1.5 tablespoons of cocoa in them 😳 so I will try... not doing that.

I'm also going to try and slow down with YKMET: Lawrence. I'll take more breaks and just try to adopt a hybrid 'summer break but still working' approach for a while.

I need to figure out how to keep my momentum without killing myself. I want my work to be actually GOOD and to do that I need to be in better shape.

I'm gonna keep trying to figure it out!

Thank you guys though, for letting me take some time off to do other stuff. I feel really lucky than I can just switch gears when I need to. You've all been so supportive and sweet 🙏
