Hi everyone! Another Hunt Month is coming to a close, and I am very pleased to report that I've managed to keep on schedule!

The writing/coding/editing phase for The Hunt is now complete! [partypopper.jpg]

What does this mean?

I'll be doing two things- beginning work on final art assets, and gathering my small team of patrons to begin pre-alpha testing. After the weekend, I'll be setting up testing documents, a private discord server, and putting a few coded touches into the game to prepare it for testers [ Just a few menu things like adding a trigger warning page ].

But before all that, I still need to report what I actually did this week!

- Finished Editing! ^o^ I got the last couple of endings knocked out! I can't share too much without being spoilery of some of the more juicy endings, but I suppose I can drop this delightfully douchey placeholder sprite of Derek- in his non-desert attire

Which you can see if you get a particularly complicated and hard to get ending.

- I also filled the image gallery with all of the placeholder backgrounds and cgs. This will save a lot of time later since I'll just be replacing files. It was a long day of very tedious copy-pasting style coding, but now all 20 backgrounds[+ time-of-day variants] and 179 cgs are represented in the gallery.

I know that sounds like an awful lot of art, and it is, but as long as I stick to my task I know I can do it.

As always, I want to extend my most sincere thank you to all of you for supporting me through this and sticking with me on the development of this game! It's shaping into something I can really be proud of, and I can't wait to enter the next phase of production! <3

I'm wondering how to get that fun Derek sprite haha Awesome to hear you're almost in the alpha phase though! Honestly, it works better for general workflow to just do all the art at once but I hope you don't get too burnt out, Gato ❤

Gatobob

Don't worry, I'm getting pretty good at avoiding burnout these days ^0^ I take a lot of care to be firm with my time off [ weekends ] and to practice that good self care. I also feel like art is less mentally difficult for me than the writing has been, so fingers crossed that this will be the 'easy' part- even if it does take quite a while!

Awesome!- Thank you for your hard work, Gato.

Yay! Congratulations~!!! You worked so hard! Ooh, that Derek.... heheh, I'm excited to get that ending when the game releases~ I think I can guess what it entails, and woof, MC prepare yourself. I can't wait to see how your testers help you polish AND any and all glimpses at the beautiful finished art coming up. This is gonna be so GOOOOOOOD! Thank you for working on this great idea. It makes me so happy whenever you update. Have a nice weekend, and an exciting week of prep!

Amazingly, he looks even more punchable all dressed up! This is honestly such a fun ride. There have been some ups and downs, like with any project, but you have just been flying through this. Have you been generally sticking to your schedule? Eight hours a day like a typical nine to five? How do you not get distracted?

Anjelea Fisher

Ooooooh, this is so exciting!!! (and I'm here on time instead of like... 4 days later hahaha) I'm glad things are moving along for you and you don't feel stuck or anything- I still can't imagine trying to create a game like this on my own, you're doing so awesome!!!! I get all bouncy and excited when I see that you've posted an update- any news about this project is exciting!!!

I would say that my schedule is a lot more goal-based, and usually later in the day than 9-5 [ it's often more like noon to 8pm since I do things like get groceries or go to the gym in the morning ] Sometimes I do well on my goals and can be done in 4-6 hours, but there's other days that work is really hard and it stretches as long as 12 hours [ I had two of those last week, oof ]. As for not getting distracted, the truth is that sometimes I do, especially with particularly hard or mentally taxing work. Sometimes I have a lot of trouble gearing myself to edit because of all the hard decision making. In those cases, I often end up faffing about for a while, then having to make up for it later in the day or night. My main weapon is to set very specific goals for myself at the beginning of the week so that I can keep them in mind and drive myself to complete tasks. When and how they get done is sometimes a mess but the important thing at the end of the day is that I made the progress X'D
