After how many weeks - or months - of tedious frame-by-frame matching, my second iteration of Metamorphoses is finally ready! Or at least, as ready as it's going to be.

The biggest difference between this and the previous version, is I'd found a way to separate the color from the luminance, so that both could be filtered separately. The luminance I'd recorded over a doze times in order to get the cleanest image possible, while the color was simply blurred in order to make it more presentable.

One negative - technically two - is the audio. This version has both the English and French audio, but neither quite lines up with the video. The French audio loses sync with the video towards the end of the film, which appears to have been a problem on the tape itself. The English audio is a closer fit, but it still slightly off at some points.

After a bit of a break, I plan on revisiting this film later. I have a Domesday capture of the American version, and plan on combining that with the French one and the Japanese DVD to create a sort of ultimate cut, as each version has its positives and negatives. The Japanese version has the cleanest image overall, but some parts are either over or under exposed. The American version has a slightly wider aspect ratio, but like the Japanese version some parts are either too bright or too dark. The French version has the best exposure & color levels, and a wider aspect ratio, but the resolution is the lowest of the three.
