Happy hump day everyone!
I hope you work is going well. Today I have a beautiful set from my friend Billy!
Billy and I met a few years ago, while I was in New Hampshire shooting. Now he's one of my favorite people to shoot with in the new england area! We tried something new with this set, and I'm honestly so proud of it.
I am also hoping I can go back to new england in the summer. It's one of my favorite places to visit, and New Hampshire is one of my most favorite states. Why? Because it's the south of the north! Haha.
My other thoughts today were fear. It might be because I finally listened to the podcast "Millennial" last night, and well, it made me cry. Haha. Listening to someone have the same weird, I guess, millennial struggles as me, is sort of surreal. It makes you feel less weird, less selfish, and more open to your lifestyle atleast.
But she spoke of something that hit super close to home, making decisions, and knowing those decisions will impact the rest of your life.
Of course, everyone has these things to think about. What job will you take? Will that job move you away from your family, friends, even a partner? Will you be happy? Will you meet your soulmate in your new city? etc.
And it made me sit and think. Don't we all make decisions based out of fear? Even in some sort of way? I have that disease, that I'm afraid I am missing out on everything in my life. It has taken me years to take reign over these feelings. I try to live in the moment, be happy, and try very hard to keep my surroundings positive.
But, it is weird. I travel a lot, and I love to, but also because I'm afraid I won't be able to 20 years from now (like most people say that they will.) I fear moving away too far from my family, etc, because what if something happens to them? ButI also fear staying too close and missing out on an opportunity (what opportunity? I don't know. Nothing has been offered to me. That's how deep this can go, haha.)
Do you also stay close because you're afraid your partner won't go with you? Or you won't meet someone else like them? Or, or, or, or, or etc. It's the shortest word, with the shittiest meaning behind it. Unless it's like sex or pizza? Haha.
How do you come out of this mindset? I'm honestly not sure. I've always been in a struggle with it, ever since I learned how large the world is. How much you can accomplish, if you just let yourself. Maybe letting yourself is the first step, and it all just comes to you. I really believe in, if you're open to it, it will find you. Whatever "it" is. It could be anything, it's going to happen on accident, without you even knowing.
I started my career because I just loved photography. Because I loved to take photos of my friends in highschool. Because I liked to capture my own emotion, and share it online (how millennial.) I never thought, I would do this for a living because of those small decisions. I never thought, I would travel the country in a car, seeing the beauty that I personally truly appreciate. It all just fell into place, I made a few different steps along the way that helped, but honestly, nothing terribly drastic.
So why do I still live in fear? I think everyone does in a way, I think we always have. Our ancestors hunted for food, because they were afraid they would die, right? So do we leave things to chance? I think it's half and half.
That's my rant. haha. I love you guys! Hopefully no one thinks I'm crazy now, haha.
