Schmunkem

Holy peak wasn’t expecting the heart part lV reaction fuck yeah

Chance

What was that cut on lust where you went from vibing to the chorus and then you were not messing with it??

IVANSINCHI

Y R THERE LIKE 2 CUTS 😾😾😾😾😾

piggle

there’s a couple videos on youtube you can search up that are some of the best videos on the site, you should learn why this is the only rap album to ever win a pulitzer, i personally think your opinion will change dramatically after watching Digging The Great’s or TennisThom’s video. truly top 3 concept albums of all time.

Schmunkem

I hope you meant it’s an “okay” album for kendrick, because if you meant this album is “okay” in general that’s fkn wild bro

Bonez

Good boy

Bonez

I obsess over songs for a while and replay them a lot too

BLACK PANTHER SOUNDTRACK NEXT

Ruzgarr Zacharias

You mean to tell me fear and feel are the worst songs? Holy shit

ducky

yes watch rush hour 2!

Ron

There’s a concept to DAMN but it’s complex as hell lol I liked certain songs when it first came out, the “bangers”. But after re-listening to the album after watching a breakdown I grew more appreciation for the more introspective songs like “FEEL.” And “FEAR.” Actually “FEEL.” Is one of my fav Kendrick song ever because it’s so relatable. The concept of the album is duality, you have a banger, and following is a slow introspective song with his true feeling and thoughts. I grew to appreciate DAMN as a whole. But it’s far from “okay” in my opinion.. but to each their own.

ducky

w ranking if we gotta give up timestamps for rankings back thats a w

Jayden

Yeah most of us didn't like it at first that much, but its gone up a lot over the years

Lucas Schekin

DAMN is a lot more conceptual than it appears at face value. I'm not tryna pull a "oh you didn't like it that much cause you didn't get it"... but like that's fair, no one gets it off first listen, the meaning is covered in symbolism and abstract messaging n shit. Not a dig at you. If you didn't like the songs sonically then that's all you, personally the sound grew on me. Finally, streams mean literally nothing for actual quality, don't measure ur expectations for an album based on it's streams. There's probably like 8 Drake albums with hundreds of millions of streams that are snoozefests (not to target specifically Drake, he's just the first name that came to mind cause duh).

Lotus Hotel (US, EST)

A lil sad you didn't love it off first listen, but I get it. The cuts you liked the least from this album are some of my favorites from his discography (except for "GOD", lol I don't like that one either), but I can see why they just felt long or boring to you. Black Panther is tight, and I love Mr. Morale & GNX as well. More heat to come!

RedVelvet

So I will say this, like you said at the beginning this is my least favorite Kendrick album and I'd still give it an 7.5/10! Its rare to find artist like this and J.Cole where I hold in such high regards to where even their worst projects are still good. Anyways, idk if you noticed but this album can be played from 1-14 or 14-1, you will get 2 different endings to the story that's being told here. This is why he released his album AGAIN on Spotify but in backwards order. One story is overcoming weakness, the other is succumbing to weakness "Is it wickness, is it weakness" "are we gonna live or die" this album being more mainstream sure but he's still a master story teller My favorite Kendrick projects are GKMC, TPAB, Section 80 and Mr Morale. This is easy bottom 2 for me

Hop

Damn is a grower for me. I didn't like most of the songs on first listen but over the years it's become one of my favorite albums. Also when I realized the alternate timeline shit about playing the album backwards my mind was blown. If you play the album in the correct order it tells his life story. If you play the songs from Duckworth to Blood in reverse order it tells an alternate history where Top killed his dad and he ends up dying by gun violence in the street. That's why he yells "let's put it in reverse" on Duckworth.

Kahmel Johnson

Okay the album is telling 2 stories the entire way through, and the story reverses at the end of duckworth which is why you hear the end of the song have lyrics in reverse that you’d heard through the album. One way through, Kendrick dies in a gunfight at the end, after growing up without a father. The other way, he grows up with a father, goes through his sins, but starts improving towards the end, and gets killed by the blind lady in the beginning. The point is, no matter what, he is dammned. You should watch this video on your own time. https://youtu.be/v-ek1OxZ2tE?si=RRS5aabkLOglEUfV This is rlly some of Kendrick’s best work if you understand the story and meaning. It will also improve sonically with each listen.

Bogram

Feel bottom 2 is crazy, easily the hardest song next to XXX and DNA

Michael

This was my least favorite Kendrick album when it dropped, and now it’s probably my favorite. Definitely a grower. Don’t feel bad for not loving it!

joshDTD

Your ranking is so disrespectful lmao but I get it, music is subjective!

Speezie

please do MJ's bad bro PLEASE

replika04

I won’t lie, it took me a long time to really get into this album. So don’t ever feel like you have to cater to people. Especially GOD. Now when I hear it, it’s just such a huge vibe. Give it time, let it marinate, and come back to it (basically like everything else) and you just might like it more! Can’t wait for Mr. Morale (it is a VERY different kendrick album though, gotta have a certain mindset for it to really hit the way it’s intended)

Bohring

It's actually refreshing to see a reaction that isn't just pure glaze. Personally this is my favorite kendrick album, but it took some time to grow on me fully. (Love was my favorite track when I first listened to the album, now I skip it almost everytime lol)

ducky

j cole apologized on april 7 2024

PdMeasles

Is it weird to say I wish I was black so I could relate to Kendrick’s music more? I love his music but I feel like a poser, bobbing my head to DNA. Lmao

Bazza

Please give it a re-listen fear and feel should be at the top of the list

Voxl Valyx

The beat switch on DNA is some of the most insane rapping I've ever heard. Even having heard the song 100 times it still blows me away

Fay

I mean liking 4/5 albums is good and u liked half the songs soooo.. Great album ppl under appreciate it bc of modern beat it got a concept but bc it’s not spoon fed like his previous albums it’s dismissed by some ppl. Also following up a tpab with a commercial album is why sum didn’t like it at first. The concept is similar to the movie tent that’s why it won a Pulitzer. It’s my least favorite too so I can’t wait for bp soundtrack and mr morale!!

Ryan Jones

this album definitely grows on you. i can get feeling like it’s the “worst” of his projects, but in all fairness, it’s competing against GKMC and TPAB, arguably two of the best rap albums of all time sooooo

Philip H.

Fear is my favorite of the album 😅

Adam

This is one of the greatest albums ever. It's designed to be a palindrome, where reversing the tracklist alters the overall theme and storyline. Kendrick confirmed that the album works both ways, but flipping the order changes the emotional arc. Front to back tells the story of a Kendrick finding his faith, achieving redemption, and overcoming his vices. The opening gunshot in BLOOD. leads to Kendrick's spiritual awakening. Back to front represents the tragic alternate universe where his father is killed. In this timeline, Kendrick lives through "fear" rather than "rap," ultimately falling victim to his vices and dying in the streets.

Malik Currie

It’ll grow on you if you give it a chance to

Joshua Moore

God imo is one of Kendrick’s worst songs

_brrrice_

Not that I feel a certain way about the rankings, but it is interesting to see GOD above FEEL, FEAR, and BLOOD, considering GOD is the only song I heard you actually say "I didn't like that one. That was was bad" and had more negative things to say about it than any other song 🤔
