YOOOO YOUR ANIME REACTIONS MAKE MY DAY MANNN, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK VERTI WE APPRECIATE YOU!

Sammie Katrina

I saw this notification and I got erected verti gyaat is just that effective

Sammie Katrina

being able to just watch without reading subtitles is why I usually prefer dub! I feel like I miss so much of the imagery because half the time I'm just staring at the bottom 15% of the screen reading subs. I wanna SEE THE ART

Bonez

Also, what fushiguro did had nothing to do with it otadori taking control. He was about to fight, but itadori took control back.

Bonez

Bro, the dub doesnt change the names. They're the same 😭

Reptone

I love Megumi and his grippy 8 rings 😩

kai

TS BOUTTA BE PEAK I GOT MY DINNER AND IM BOUTTA WATCH ILY VERTI

fdl3h

dub so peak🥹✌🏽

VERTICILE

🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️

Bonez

Imma shid my pants

kai

verti bro please dont switch to dub its like not needed considering its the same exact names, the voice acting in key moments in season 2 and even in 1 and 3 are just sooo much better in sub bruh like i watch stone cold face when its dub and i be bawling when its sub deadahh

Toni岡田

まあ丁度仕事の休憩からあがるタイミングできたのか、、、 じゃあまた明日観るわ。

Sammie Katrina

idk, I feel like power of friendship nonsense had at least a little to do with it. he talk no jutsu'd itadori back out

Toni岡田

しかも最初のラップはマジで耳が痛いんだけど😣

Bonez

I meant the grippy 8 cockrings 😭. Thats just a fighting technique

Eva

flames

kai

the dub is fine and whatever for like the non serious parts but whenever it gets genuinely serious the sub just is soooooooo much better genuinely and it's a lot more faithful and accurate to the actual story considering dubs have to localise stuff etc

Bonez

Yeah, the scene when itadori switches with sukuna had me emotional in sub. Thats shit was ass in dub ngl

kai

I just watched that to see what you mean and bro 💀💀💀it doesn't hit at allll

sabrina

dubbed anime is almost always worse than the original

Nae

Dub is actually gross. I'm sorry to those who like it. It doesn't hit especially as a non american 😭😭😭. Damn even the comedic moments sound awkward oh lord 😢

sabrina

you dont need to memorize every character name when it first appersss or youre gonna get crazyy

kai

one other thing about dub is they like kind of completely get Gojo's entire character wrong with the voice, Gojo's meant to be like a goofy whimsical guy who takes nothing serious because he's the strongest. Dub takes the goofy part out of that and makes him kinda one dimensional and lessens him actually feeling like the strongest IMO

dvir1212

Yeah ngl if he wants to continue watching anime he needs to get used to the sub

Yel

yeah, i love dubs, if it is a good dub. but for this one, nah. the actors are okay but the direction is meh.

Astascurse

First 2 minutes genuinely almost made me unsub

dvir1212

You need to get used to it,no one that has watched more than 50 animes will tell u to watch in dub. its common sense among the community that 90% of the time its the worse option

Campbell Reyburn

I would recommend sub and prefer it but if dub makes you enjoy it more who am I to say.

8D0K2

The dubs actually pretty good

no u uwu

Just an fyi when the you see those tattoos on yuuji, that’s sukuna, no tattoos it’s yuuji. Incase you didn’t realize c:

squishycakes

vert at the beginning of this show i was also having trouble with the names even after watching several animes before. But trust me these character repeat a lot and get their names used a lot so you get used to it, also the dub is straight cheeks.

cade

longest week wait of my life 😭❤️ i gotta say a lot of the details about how the power system are lost in the dub. things might end up getting more confusing sticking with it long term.

Sara

Yooo please stop skipping the ends there are short cute episodes after the endings im crying pleeaaasseee

Ruman

Everyone crying about the dubbing needs to get their priorities straight, this was the real tragedy.

Toni岡田

Dude Inumaki is the best. Stall your opinion, there is a theme behind his random words

kairoswrn

Verti I don't know why so many people are saying the dub is trash it is genuinely not lmao, it is one of the better dubs out there PLEASE keep doing it if you want to, don't listen to the toxic fans

dvir1212

It is bro it sounds forced, there are good dubs like aot or death note this is just not one of them

Wish

You just gotta watch sub n get used to it icl, its yo 2nd anime tho i cant blame you

VeggyZ

Nope, what Megumi was saying was whatever technique he was going to use - but he stopped because he noticed that Yuji took over again. Yuji made the choice to die to save Megumi. You'll get to see his actual moves later. Megumi is a pretty badass dude. That stuff he said, had nothing to do with it. He's got moves.

VeggyZ

lol, the taxpayer is paying for those destroyed buildings, of course. But for real, trying to figure out anime before they want you to know stuff is an exercise in futility, haha. I do it too tho, part of the fun I guess. It's a confusing art form alright. At first. ...and yeah this anime is funny af. It usually has me giggling like a little girl even in serious episodes. You'll love Maki later in the series. She's seriously a hardcore badass. Easily one of my favorite characters, outside the main 3.

D

Weak aah dub

D

The sky is red

D

Bro expects to memorize names in 4 episodes

kairoswrn

the dub is good shut the fuck up you ignorant little fucks

kairoswrn

dub is just as good lmao

D

Sybau fn It’s ass, sorry you can’t comprehend that shit

kai

dodnt even cap dawg

kai

no ones being toxic i dont think

kai

agree

kai

it was aura and verti was farming it for days

D

Love you vert, sry for bitching about dub, but I think it’s so funny. You said you’re not remembering the names so you’re switching to dub, but the names are exactly the same as subbed. It doesn’t really make sense 😭

kai

???????????????

kai

he js said you need to off yourselif you really think this dub is bad

MISPLACED

Bros spittin 🔥🎤 I’m ngl this is my first time hearing the dub for this show… go back to sub gang ts is ahh 🥲🥀

Yel

funny how he's saying don't mind toxic fans that's saying dub is bad, and he out here telling people to off themselves for saying it's bad lmao

PdMeasles

Just get used to not knowing names when starting new series. It takes me like 12+ episodes to remember names, even in regular shows.

RNG Master

Steins gate , code geass death note, cowboy bebop, baccano, full metal alchemist these are good ahh dubs but for most shounen series the dub is fukn ass this one's not an exception

VeggyZ

It's not toxic - it's mostly because the voice actors play most of their roles the same in every role they have, and very subdued way, and that some of them really don't fit the characters that well. Many don't (or can't) match the intensity of their roles and don't always seem to have direction on the scenes when they do the recording, at least not enough emphasis on the mood and tone. I can appreciate some English voice acting, but when it comes to anime, a lot of them don't give it much intensity. There's a bunch of reasons it is that way, like a different style of recording in Japan vs. America (in America they often do it remotely, which can make conversations sound disconnected, or jarring. In Japan, actors often meet up to play their roles in a group if it involves a bunch of characters - because they can actually make the commute there - which makes it more natural and they kinda spur each other on / feed off each other - there's other reasons too, but not for comment section) - very few English actors will give like, a guttural scream or deliver a hate filled line with some grit, it's always very subdued. A few, but not many. Anime's all about that tho. The talent pool needs to be larger, but I don't think the funding for it is there, in America, or people with acting chops would be lining up. Also, in Japan, being a well known voice actor comes with a lot of clout - that's not really how it is in America. A tiny bit - but people aren't as crazy over them. A lot of them view their roles as a "stepping stone" - and so it can sound like an audition, if that makes sense. I'd love hollywood level acting in anime - or like Disney/Pixar level... but that's unrealistic. Never going to happen - it does once in a while, but it will never be the standard here, unless anime gets a LOT bigger and makes a lot more money.

VeggyZ

Haha, I'm sure he'll come to like the guy. He doesn't have enough of a role though. I guess I get why - his power is a little strange, but the concept IS kinda cool.

VeggyZ

Some of the humor too. Sometimes you have to hear it the right way for it to be funny. If the tone of a scene changes, it can sometimes just confuse people and make them ask "wtf is going on?" This show does an ok job with that, in the English, and those scenes do talk too fast, so I get why people can't always follow the subs, but they happen fast intentionally too. I guess I'm just used to it.

VeggyZ

Agree. Also like, it was that way for me for a very long time, with anime, remembering names. You get used to it, though, and after you hear them enough, you know. Trying to remember every detail of an anime right away - that's a lost cause, haha. Even for veterans. Fortunately it's not ever necessary either.

VeggyZ

I prefer the sub too - because I think the acting is next level, and it sets the tone the way it was intended.... but I guess I understand why some people have trouble keeping up with the subtitles in an anime like this.

VeggyZ

Pretty much agree, good English acting in Asian media is a rare thing - it DOES exist, but not usually. Some actors have some passion for their roles and stuff, and take pride in them - but a bunch of them just do it all the same over and over. That's my main problem I guess. Also the recording process for these dubs is done remotely - so actual dialogue sounds like they're just reading a line. It's a little hard to ignore if ya know the difference.

VeggyZ

Yeah, giving a character a voice that doesn't suit the role can really change your entire perspective on a character, even if the things they do and say are roughly the same. Tone matters a lot for many characters.

VeggyZ

Haha, true! you'll learn them through repetition anyway.

VeggyZ

I'm a native English speaking American - and I have to agree with you. It's actually possibly worse if you're a native speaker. I guarantee he'll start noticing how canned it sounds if he watches some more anime later, in Japanese. It's impossible to not notice. For the comedy, the abruptness and tone matter a lot - and I don't even know if it's possible for the English actors to do the same thing. The languages are different.

VeggyZ

Thing is, the Japanese voice actors make it INTENSE - the English ones really don't. Maybe a couple, but I don't think I've heard that once in this particular anime. I usually just skip straight to the sub - which is probably why I can watch and read the subs at the same time as watching the action. Sometimes localization ruins characters, plot details, and other interactions in general. A lot of the time, really. Much of the nuance is lost.

kowasu

oh you really did the same thing again haha i aint watching that shi

M M

cant wait till he sees toji gojo

Hero

Why does bro keep switching between sub and dub :sob:

Hero

so real the voices are soo forced and cringe

BDIRCT

Kurama and Naruto-esque

Victor Staal Jessen

i've watched both sub and dub and enjoy both. but the dub i watched did not sound like this, it sounded way better. is there 2 different dubs or am i trippin?

kairoswrn

If you want to stick to the dub do it, even if you get hate for it just do what you like. Your fans shouldn't be only watching for sub or they are fake fans.

BDIRCT

Soooo… this is my first rewatch. As you can assume there is much I’m finding out from this for the first time despite having already watched. My question for ep. 3 of this batch is WHEN TF DID GOJO BRING YUJI TO HIS FIGHT WITH JOGO?! I’m seriously confused there, though I can understand with Gojo’s cursed powers, it could have been at any point, especially when he touched hands with Jogo. Not only is this first rewatch, I also haven’t finished through S1. Maybe haven’t even seen enough of S2😭 can’t wait to finish up this anime with Vert and the gang!!!

Julian Navarrette

the dub really isn’t bad i thought it was actually really good. especially when you js wanna watch the show instead of watching subtitles

olivexe

Sorry but the dub is horrible, i can't watch xD

Ryan

Damn shi got taken down before I could watch. I was ready to tank the dub episode too

MattMobs

y’all complained so much I can’t even watch the mf 🤣

Jafet Umaña Gomez

No hate to dub anime or watchers but as a non american it sound so weird for me... Either way do what you like best

BDIRCT

The love for dub is over exaggerated but the hate is too js🤷🏽‍♀️ respect tho

BDIRCT

Don’t scare me like that thought I missed best holiday ever created and that shit been passed😭

BDIRCT

Most definitely that😭

BDIRCT

Compared to most dub this one passes on my radar

Guillermo Hernandez

Do what you ever you want king!! but dub is better to understand the show. people who are saying its cringe are weird and are snobs about everything in life !!

Ellelel

Brotha don't even trip, we're ALL gonna be enjoying the sub version together as true fans. It really seems you're the only one who wants the dub lmao

Eden

The translations in dub are innaccurate so i'd say it's worse for understanding the show. Whether you do or don't think it's cringe is a subjective opinion. He's receptive to his viewers opinions so his viewers exercised their rights to express said opinions, and he doesn't seem to mind switching so he will. If he really wanted to watch dub and people were mad at him for that, it'd different story completely

Ellelel

Seems like a certain someone had a pretty rough morning shit today... Stay strong and keep your head up, you got this fam!

Ellelel

You are sweating wayyyy too much over ts, give it up lil bro 😭

D

Bro said I’m sweating too much and had a shit morning when THAT nigga is the one who went crazy and told me stfu and an ignorant little fuck😭 wipe your mouth fn

Schmunkem

anime has some of the worst fans across all of media

uriel

Bro the only one being toxic is you lmaoooo, why can't you see that if the majority of viewers ALWAYS prefer sub then maybe the sub is just better?

Drakolarva

Holy Reddit weebs in the comments no one gives a shit if you want to larp as an anime fan. The dub is fine

YoItsNiko

i reccomend sub. you get used to it quick and the voice actors are undeniably better. unless you are really struggling cause at the end of the day whatever you like more is best!

Ethereal

He can teleport

kai

literal example you gave that its better to understand the show is one of the reasons dub is literally bad at, it has incorrect translations and stuff it literally makes it HARDER to understand the show

kai

holy lucky season 2 is so good and 3 season 1 is easilyyyyyyyyyy the weakest while still being good

Lucas Schekin

Megumi was about to summon something else, hoping to fight Sukuna, but Itadori finally managed to switch back, which is why Megumi stopped and relaxed. He noticed the tattoos disappearing. Sukuna didn't get banished or anything, Itadori just finally took back over.

kairoswrn

Dub is good it's not trash at all people keep saying it is, gojo is equal to the sub and sukuna is just as good if not better, megumi is also very good. You little infants hate on everything and don't want to watch if he is watching in dub

Lucas Schekin

The Sushi guy is goated, trust. His reason for speaking in sushi terms will make more sense once you realize what his power is (you got a glimpse of it in that last episode).

kairoswrn

Von D what the fuck are you even talking about, explain to me how it is "unbearably fucking awful" it is literally good, gojo sukuna megumi nobara and most other characters are amazing, i'd say just as good as the sub. And saying you know better is insane, sub elitists are mentally ill.

kairoswrn

I hope you are joking, the dub sounds great you are too picky

Dylan

man can you shut your bitch ass up LMAO you been replying to everyone complaining about the dub, just accept the fact that most people think the dub is shit and cringy, you're not convincing anyone otherwise

Victor

Same with Toji, his Japanese voice sounds indifferent and deep, nothing like his vouce in English

hoom4n0id

it’s way too early to say this but after jjk season one you need to watch the jjk 0 movie and then s2

VeggyZ

Heh, I'm way too excited for the rest of this series now. So many good moments I remember. I am tempted to re-watch it on my own but I suppose I'll hold off a bit... I think I remember it pretty well, but I noticed something with rewatching anime when people do reactions and shit - I actually appreciate it even more than the when I was a virgin to the anime, because I notice all kinds of shit I didn't the first time. I've been going through some of them in my free time lately and rewatching series I liked - and I always find more in it. The next few episodes should be pretty fun, I gotta feeling Verticile will love them. I just hope he gives into the allure and watches 8 more episodes instead of 4, heh. I remember, this was one of those anime I wished I could marathon when I watched it the first time - but it was airing fresh and it was excruciating. Literal torture, waiting for that next episode. It's one hell of a time tho - good lore, good characters - one hell of an experience imo. And keep track of characters - well, you made it through quite a bit of Attack on Titan so far, so this one probably won't confuse you too much. You'll catch on quick - wayyyy fewer characters. AoT is balls deep in names.

VeggyZ

Good advice - not exactly necessary, but good. There's nothing lost in watching the series first tho - you'll just have more perspective on the movie. That's cool too - I went through something like this with the FATE series, tho it wasn't movies, it was just Fate: Zero vs. Unlimited Blade Works. Zero is technically a prequel but.. it's one meant to be watched after, or you won't have a clue cuz less is explained. Hard line to draw really. I still think it's better to watch Unlimited Blade Works first, though. You understand a little more of what's happening in Zero if you do. Only a little, but... it means more. Maybe I just grew numb to time-skips and flashbacks over the years. I just treat it like frosting now.

VeggyZ

It's great that you guys go out of your way to not spoil shit for him. Anime fans be like that usually. Appreciation for the art, I suppose.

VeggyZ

The sub always has more intensity, and lines sound like actual conversation - not someone reading a piece of paper. They sound more natural, and things like humor don't sound so forced. I'm totally in agreement with ya. English voice actors tend to view anime VA jobs as a stepping stone, they hope they'll get some offers or something - but the Japanese VA cast - they settled in and made it their own thing, and they usually do it very consistently. I recognize a lot of the JP actors by their voice. The English? not so much. Which is wild, considering I am fluent in English, not Japanese. Way too many of them play different parts in a very similar way, in English. Maybe that's just what it's like when you're fluent in one language and not the other... but it's impossible to not notice for me. Understanding the subtleties can make bad acting way more noticeable. That said, I also don't feel like (most) English VAs take it as seriously either. I'm sure some do, but I always spend most of my time cringing, to tell...

VeggyZ

lol, it's really not. Go compare the voice acting of the two versions - and then compare the English acting to actual actors (movie actors) in America... There is no comparison. Most of them are drama club level or worse... people aren't trying to be mean when they say it either - it's very noticeable if you give the JP a chance - the intensity and gravity are on totally different levels.

VeggyZ

It has the absolute worst English voice actors across all of media too. Even daytime TV soap operas do a more convincing job. English anime is acted like it's for kids or something - it ruins the entire atmosphere. The seriousness.

VeggyZ

It sounds even weirder to native English speakers who have actually listened to both versions too - it's actually worse if you've got any care for the quality of voice acting... personal opinion of course, but I've tried to listen to way too many English dubs to not notice how forced and awkward it all is. English = sounds like it's being made for kids. Usually. Japanese = the most intense acting you'll ever hear. Even in some anime that don't deserve it, haha

hoom4n0id

first off the whole fate universe is so peak so you’re a real one for that. i only watched fate/zero but i know what you mean about the whole prequel/sequel thing. for jjk some of the plot points in the movie, at least in my opinion, are kind of essential to understanding nuance and information in the later seasons. plus the movie leaves you with questions that are later answered in the series and i think it’s just fun to have more questions going into something :P

VeggyZ

To my ears, most of the English cast are playing the role like it's either made for little kids, or it's a side hustle. The Japanese cast make it their own, usually. They have an intensity I have not heard in even one single anime in English, and I usually give them a test when they're dubbed... at least if I liked the original. The thing is, even the relatively unpopular disney-pixar titles have better voice acting than pretty much every anime, as far as English cast goes. If anime were acted in that fashion, I suspect it'd be taken a lot more seriously in America, because the shit is intense. It isn't, because a lot of people will hear the acting and turn it off before they even see what it's about... Personal opinion of course, but if you have something really intense, and the acting falls flat and makes everything seem flat. Weak. Flaccid. Like saggy balls - it totally mutes the whole experience.

YoItsNiko

I agree English voice actors treat it as a job, while Japanese voice actors treat it as an art form!

Person29

when he said Ring8 grip it was a typo in the subtitles btw, yuuji talked at the same time as megumi I'm pretty sure and it got messed up

Sammie Katrina

I've watched more than 50 animes and my advice is to watch whatever you prefer because how you enjoy anime is valid and elitists shouldn't dictate how you consume your own media :) thanks for your opinion though

Koby

I agree I’ve watched dub and sub anime but I think it’s just easier and more convenient to just watch dub, no hate to sub that’s just my preference.

AstraT1ger

Yo btw this season 1 is not the begining, the actually first episode is a movie and I think its called jujutsu kaisen 0, you should watch that before continuing, I love your content 07

D

You lame, spread positivity

Aleah DeVyne

I personally like dub but I’m not here to convince others to like it. I want to see everything on the screen so I normally switch to sub if I’m watching it over. Also whyyy do we keep skipping the Juju strolls they don’t spoil anything 😭 you’ll miss them when they’re gone I promise ❤️‍🩹

Aleah DeVyne

Really? I think the comedy is better in dub. For JJK and AOT actually.

Aleah DeVyne

I love seeing others thoughts on this. I think Gojo is very goofy in both dub/sub

kai

I think that it's a bit tricky, like a different type of goofy, a lot more like whimsical and silly in sub how he should be, dub is like a cocky kind of goofy I think and it's similar I guess but just not the same thing

Tyler

If he wants to watch it in Dub… let him.

ator Cibbon

Why did bro lick his lips for Maki like that

ator Cibbon

nah this guy is hitting the lightskin stare every time she's on screen

Rish

Yeah the comedy in the dub is super cringe when they try to phrase it for the westerners and you miss a lot of the cultural japanese jokes they make. When i was 6-9 years old I really enjoyed dub and I loved cringy stuff as it was just funny but it's not the same when you grow up. Feel's like dubbed is aimed for the younger kids, not the mature viewers who can appreciate timing/delivery, intricate japanese jokes etc.

Dylan Howard

that stuff he says about the sacred treasure will all make sense in season 2 my man. there is a LOT of subtle foreshadowing throughout season 1.

Dxcoda

dawg all that caused yuji to come back was the emotional message from megumi, Eight-Handled Sword, thats just a technique he was thinking about using but didnt fully do.

Abia Manzanares

After Season 1 there is a JJK movie you must watch before season 2! It contains important knownledge for the story.

Scavenger

"The cultural Japanese Jokes" Now thats hilarious. This Japanese guy is laughing at you. その棒を尻から引き抜け. "When I was 6-9" My brother you cannot be over 15 making that sort of comment, Just say in 2018 lmao

whatever

Why Is Bro calling sukuna Subaru hahahah

whatever

Btw dont understimate jogo he Is strong as hell Just becouse he got destroyed by the strongest sourcer does not mean he Is weak

cantlucaway

bro did NOT just call LOTR game of thrones, that's genuinely a crime lmao

Connor P

You've got good taste! I highly recommend Baccano

Aflack Qwak

We need to get Vert to watch Code Geass

Aflack Qwak

As someone who has watched more than 50 anime’s I still prefer dub so I can actually watch the damn show, and not read the entire time.

Aflack Qwak

The majority can be wrong…

Jayden Cohn

Is there anywhere I can watch your dub version?

Ricky Spanish

Is it just me or are all the subtitles running together? Don't they normally separate those? It's hella hard to read certain parts

Rish

You're obviously a dub loving kid xD What japanese person prefers dub, nice try kid. Just get over it, the sub is better even Verti has said it many many times. This kid doesn't realise there are cultural jokes and idioms, you need to leave your village mate. You've used google translate for that phrase xD It doesn't make sense in Japanese, that's an american phrase translated word for word into Japanese, the Japanese don't use that idiom. Next time be smarter when trying to rage bait you kid lmao

Grady

So on point, and I would like seeing him watch any of these. Especially Code Geass, but I don't think it would get enough views.
