From outside to in, it's Maria, Rose, Sina. Shiganshina is a small city poking out of the south of Wall Maria. So ever since episode 1, everything inside Wall Maria has been titan territory. All of the expeditions Eren + friends have been on so far, have been inside wall Maria. Including this one. They haven't ever made it back to Shiganshina or Wall Maria yet.

Sometimes they have a different localization teams work on different seasons, when they localize something into English (subs and dubs), if you know what the original word was, it'll have been changed in localization... and you'll wonder why they bothered. Some translations will not be the same even when they're clearly saying the same thing - and sometimes they'll arbitrarily change to a word that doesn't really mean the same thing... it's particularly bad when they "Americanize" a unique word in Japan that doesn't have an English equivalent, they just pick something sorta close. It's like "Aberrant" vs. "Abnormal" or "Survey Corps" vs. "Scouts" usually - where the meanings are interchangeable - but not always. I just think Survey Corps is cooler to say, and sounds more official and just more badass. Scout is generic and boring.

Sometimes they add to it - sometimes you just won't understand what's going on if you hadn't watched the series first. OVAs are a mixed bag. I like them - once I'm done with the meat and potatoes. Bro, I genuinely don’t understand how you’re still mixing this up when the show explains it like five times. There are **THREE walls**: Wall Maria, Wall Rose, and Wall Sina. And the districts like Shiganshina District and Trost District are NOT random separate places — they’re the little protruding cities sticking OUT from the walls to attract titans. They have their OWN outer gates. Five years ago, the Colossal Titan broke the OUTER gate of Shiganshina, then the Armored Titan broke the INNER gate. That’s why Wall Maria fell. Later, the Colossal Titan attacked Trost, which is on Wall Rose. He broke the OUTER gate there too, but they sealed it, so Wall Rose stayed intact. And THIS episode takes place OUTSIDE Wall Rose, before they even reach Wall Maria or Shiganshina. OMG I had to get that out cause this bro makes some fairly decent points and theories but somehow gets confused on shit thats been literally explained from diagrams in the show.

I genuinely think the animals in the intro is more of an visual storytelling of the size comparison to the beast titan so we can see how huge he is compared to animals, regular titans and humans. The heart beat also adds that "living being" element to it to make you realise how insane his size and powerful/scary existence is
