So that’s how furries got to earth

DragonWithaBeard

So wait, does that mean this world doesn’t have a moon anymore?

StumpedMoose

So now we finally know who to blame for creating furries!

Well, there’s our explanation for Luna’s origins, where she came from and the meaning behind her name. The answer: she used to be the moon itself. The reason for why the moon is shattered in the present obviously being Luna using up what could very well be most of if not all her power to transmit herself from the moon to the very soil of the earth itself, causing the moon to break upon her departure. It’s interesting that this may be the first direct reference to the spirit realm we’ve had in the comic so far, as well as the fact that that’s apparently where the current world’s magic supply comes from. I do also remember Zummeng mentioning at one point her intention to feature spirits/ghosts in the story, as well. I wonder how that will come into play when we get to them? Learning more about the spirit realm should be a treat, but I suspect that aspect about the world will have to wait ‘til later. I also like to mention the fact that Mira said that not all humans are evil, as we should know. As I said before, to assume humanity had only chaos and/or evil within its very core would be a gross generalization of their species, as we ourselves should know, especially if it’s based on the actions of a select few individuals rather than the more varied actions of the collective or at least the majority. I firmly believe with every evil seed that rises to take root in the world, a seed of good rises to counteract it, meaning if humanity’s final war really was of their our volition and evil intent with little to no influence from the chaos, than a good portion of humanity had to have to resisted against it or attempted to prevent it, the efforts of which, unfortunately, ending in vain, which, of course, brings further reason for the moon to weep for mankind’s apparent extinction. We should bare in mind as well that since humanity had presumably gotten the ability to reach the stars by the time of their final war, there’s also a possibility of a good portion of mankind managing to escape to parts unknown beyond the earth and our solar system before things went to hell. Who knows, maybe they dug themselves underground somewhere instead. On another note, tangentially related to the humans, we now also know that the anthro folk that make the sentient population of the current world are essentially evolved hybrids of humanoid bodies plus aspects and features from the many indigenous animal species that once roamed the earth along with humans, as well as, of course, souls of their own. And of course we also now have the reason for Luna’s title of Tree of Life, the fact she was reborn as a giant tree that brought about the rebirth of the world. All in all, an interesting bit of lore further explaining Luna and the world’s origins that, thankfully, I have less doubt in, since Luna would more than likely be able to recall these events, at least from the point she was reborn as the giant tree. However, some questions still linger, such as Luna eventually evolving into her deer form, when and how the elemental gods came to be and why and the trying matter of Rah’Jan and the chaos and the beginning of their collective influence on this brave new world that Luna had brought into being. Though I suppose those answers will have to wait for now. Still loving the stained glass look for these recent pages btw. Keep up the good work.

Okay for a second, I thought it would be another "human bad" story where we never acknowledged the good stuff because it was buried in trash by our more devilish members of our species. But having Luna (at least her old form) to be aware of the nuance of humanity and gave life on Earth another chance is pretty interesting. It can also explains why she and the other gods are quite involved with the mortals possibly to guide them away from making any possible mistakes that the previous civilization did that didn't had a watcher.

Of course, Luna is her name because she is the heart of the moon. Also I was convinced that the moon being split would be due to chaos. Then again the story may not be accurate…
