Disclaimer for non-spies from DHM: it's not very nice post and has a lot of strong words, so you can skip it – guess you don't really want to see angry Sonozaki Sisters. However, I'm extremely grateful to all of you who support me, both free and paid members. Thanks a bunch for not stealing my content.

But seriously:

"We're Dollhouse Mafia. And we fucking hate paywalls."

What's the point of playing noble pirates? OK, guys, I'm against paywalls too. I can at least get your official point.

But, lol, you keep breaking your own rules! Oh, right, I remember now. You're totally against pirating early access, right? You even ban people who ask for it?

Then the fuck you're uploading my early access content? ;)

I don't use Adfly resources or paywalls. You get early access for literally $3 per month or just fucking wait for a couple of weeks. I'm a fully moral modder by your standards, even though I'm not trying to compete with other content creators for your praise. I'm sticking to the community rules because I'm here for the community. I don't want to be a reason why it's rotting. I just want people to have more fun playing the game, and I hope my contributions help with that.

Still, you don't even give a fuck. You're just leaking whatever mods you want, and I'm not buying into the whole 'moral' thing. I'm not just talking about my own mods, of course. Oh, believe me, I'm so pissed off not just because my works got leaked.

Lumpinou's mods, seriously? I'm really grateful to all my fellow modders, who have helped me so much. I wouldn't have become a modder in the first place without learning a lot from other modders. Lumpinou is literally my life saver. Guys, I couldn't have done any of my mods without her. I'm sure everyone agrees that her mods are a lot of fun.

Well, you could say that it doesn't matter if she breaks the rules and paywalls her mods, right? But she doesn't. Lol. Her recent Law and Disorder mod was leaked from Early Access – 3 weeks to wait, just a friendly reminder. What are your excuses this time, I wonder? And it's just one of many examples – I hope I don't have to point out all your fuck-ups.

Well, you said that modders and content creators who've had their work unfairly leaked can get in touch with you to ask you to fix your mistakes. Guess what? Specified contacts don't exitst or are rick rolles, my ass. Don't even think about me joining your groups and humiliatingly asking for your mercy. I'm pretty proud, y'know.

I'm not even expecting you to rethink your actions, remove early access content from your resources, or ban people for requesting it. But it's just the bare minimum you should do if you want to stick with the noble pirates' (c) mission.

I'm making a public statement: you're hypocrites. YOU are the reason for the rotting of the Sims community, not me or the other content creators who share their fairly priced early access for a couple of dollars.

There is no mission here in your actions. You are a bunch of pathetic kids who can't support their claims with action. You are no different from anyone who pirates creators' content without any self-imposed moral rules. In fact, you're worse. The others are at least not hypocrites. Other pirates avoid mixing their unwillingness to wait with politics and do not build their huge community around statements they do not follow.

Cope as much as you want, as if I'm making ads for you. That's ridiculous. Your followers don't even consider supporting me in the first place. You are known to almost anyone who wants to pirate anyway – c'mon, even I know about you while I don't use stolen from other creators content.

Well, cry how you're insulted are with this post, or even that you're such victims. I don't care – or, on the contrary, I will be very happy if you feel offended. Or just make your pathetic revenge and leak every my mod – prove to everyone that you can't acknowledge mistakes and throw your noble pirates bullshit right into the window. UPD: did it right after the post LOL. Such pathetic and predictable clowns

Take your own medicine. You're not the only one who can call out here and there.

Fuck yourself.

PREACH!! Honestly, ppl need to have some patience and wait if they don't want to pay! Sheesh!

SonozakiSisters

Yup, I'm a free subscriber to many creators, but somehow I can wait. I don't think that's a high moral standard

Diamond

These Mafia people are assholes. They're just cheap bastards who have the audacity to think they're too good to pay for anything. Clearly, they've never taken the time to make anything. They don't know how much time, work, tears it takes to create. Fucking losers. -- I'm with you, Sonozaki!

SonozakiSisters

Thanks! Part about tears is especially true ;D Sometimes I just can't bear bugs whose causes are so unclear

June☆

you're right. life is around 70/90 years long for most of us so i don't think waiting 2 weeks or 3 is so hard. like the mods become free after early access, people just have to wait or pay. so i don't see their point to steal your mods. i support you.

NNZN

Я тебя обожаю 😍

SonozakiSisters

Thank you. That's true. Besides, a couple of months ago I published a post where I explained why I use Early Access system. And the main reason is because it's kinda risky action to publish a mod that has a big potential to be buggy, especially if it's the big gameplay one, like I released the Twins update yesterday. I want to be sure that people will enjoy my mods instead of getting nervous because of them

SonozakiSisters

Спасибо 💅 Давно хотела написать, но была занята очень модами (чтобы их потом все равно сливали)

NNZN

Правильно. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

SonozakiSisters

Lol, they leaked my Twins update Fucking losers (c) really You could be at least more creative and don't confirm all my takes and predictions immediately

Debra Davis

I don't know who you are raging at or what the backstory is, but I fully support your statements about paywalls, early access and pirating. Why can't people just be decent and fair...what a POS world we're living in now. Thanks for your hard work and your honesty!!:)

The Dawn of Vanlife

I mean, I don't know anything about this situation, but I fully support this. I am watching money right now because I'm currently laid off, so I just I just waited for official access to Law and Disorder and eagerly await you releasing the twins mod public of your own accord. You, Lumpino, and a lot of others have clearly established very temporary paywalls. I've never had a problem waiting a few weeks, especially if the modder has clearly communicated a public access date. Its literally not that hard to wait, especially when you know eventually it will be public!! And as long as critical updates to public mods aren't re-paywalled its fine (by this I mean fixing a mod broken by a game update, not new features the modder is adding for fun...I fully support early access by modders for fun remakes and additions).

SonozakiSisters

Thank you! And I totally understand that people from time to time cancel their paid subscription, real problems often require money ;( So it's just natural priorities. Happens with me too. But you're right, then you just wait for the mod/cc and that's all. Btw, I'm so happy Lumpinou released this mod! I was waiting it for a couple of years.

The Dawn of Vanlife

Also a lot of these folks mention how modders don't "own" the game and therefore don't own their mods, but I'm like exactly - but they did the work for you of modding the game. If you don't want to "pay" them for that labor, just like the "modder" these folks could....I don't know, look at the same code that they also could use to make their own mods. But they'd rather excuse "breaking" an entirely temporary paywall. I don't "buy mods", when I have the money and I can "support modders" that I like, that's exactly what I'm doing, I'm supporting modders who's content I like. I'm not "buying a mod". When people are clearly selling the mod itself or CC itself as a product, those are usually the folks I don't support. That's my weird line in the sand.

Sunni C

I can think of a couple of creators that perma-paywall but pretend they don't ('early access' that started in March anyone?) and it gets even shadier when they get well-known YT creators to make videos 'omg I just found this amazing mod', so they get a ton of people willing to pay for it.... and many people don't pay attention to dates (of the videos or the 'early access' post) so they're gonna pay to download this really cool mod not realizing that it has been in 'early access' for literal months and is a cash grab that goes against EA TOS.... In those cases, I can get behind their mission. Especially when the content is CAS or BB stuff rather than actual mods. I may or may not have shared a couple of sets that I bought in early access that just never ended. But I shared them with a couple of friends - not entire communities - and well after they would have been out of early access if the early access period was actually real. But people like Lumpinou or you? Or pretty much mods in general.... it makes zero sense and just shows they're pirating for the sake of it and not for any 'moral' or 'ethical' reasons. What I don't think these people realize (well, they probably do, they just don't care -- but I doubt their end users do) is that a lot of times early access is used as an expanded testing period. I don't think really for Lumpinou because she has an extensive testing period and all of the testers she could want, but many modders don't have that and early access is the first time their mod is seen/used/tested by anyone other than them or a handful of friends. The leaked early access versions of many mods are gonna be buggy and by the time the early access period is over, they'll also be outdated. Also, any group that thinks naming themselves after the Mafia is ethical or moral in ANY type of way, well they can fuck right off anyways.

Simanthra

I didn't want to reply to a bunch of comments in the thread so I'm throwing all my thoughts here. I think people read too much into "early access." Modders create tiers and provide early access as a way for fans to support them and the hours they've put into the mod. Early access isn't about paywalling-- it's just a way for people to say "Hey, I really like your work and I appreciate the hours upon hours you've put into this!" On top of that, early access gives modders a chance to find bugs with a smaller pool of users vs releasing a mod right out and having hundreds come at them for an error/bug. This is beneficial to the modders that have anxiety and need a calmer navigation when working with the public. It's also of my opinion that modders *do* own their mods. Sure, they don't own the base mechanics that come from the game, but they invest the hours and time creating it, so they have ownership. It's not like when a modder adopts a retired mod from another creator or makes an asset for another mod by another creator. I got wicked excited when I saw this and decided I couldn't wait and was even more excited when it was only 3 bucks to subscribe. Twin mechanics is something that we don't have yet-- at least not that I have found so it's super unique and the details look amazing. No brainer to chuck some coffee money your way and not have to wait.

SonozakiSisters

That's true. And I want to talk about it a bit more, not only in the TS4 context. I'm very into the idea of open source code solutions and communities, I'm part of it and contributing when I don't work on the mods. It's cool because you have a huge base of knowledge and code to explore and learn, and implement something on your own after that. As a software engineer, I can easily admit that I'm not good at studying by books or courses. But diving into the existing projects is extremely effective method to learn and develop as an expert. So... yes, we do not *own* our mods projects - though we can gain something because EA told us so - but why not to use it in a good way? You can easily access any mod's code and research it. EA has TDESC documentation. Modders community is really big, there are tons of tutorials and useful tools, many people honestly want to share knowledge and help each other. I never onboarded any project so fast as it was with the modding. It's basically ideal opportunity to create and share knowledge. Yet we face stealing and leaking... That's why it's rotting.

SonozakiSisters

Yeah, I know what are you talking about. It seems to me as another way how capitalism rots anything it can reach. Don't understand why some people help it to spread even further. Sure, there is a financial benefit, but... I don't know, for me it matters how exactly money is earned. And you're right, the early access method is very comfortable to make beta testing. I have a couple of friends for testing too, but it can't be compared with early access members community. It saved me a lot of nerves - in fact, I'm very anxious about the quality of my mods and often fixing something in the middle of night. Just imagine what could happen to me if there wasn't any Early Access. Guess I would finished as a modder the year ago ;D Thank you for support, I'm very happy to talk with people who share the same values

UnicornMummy

Think of it this way. People who pirate would never pay to get early access. People who pirate is not your audience or supporters. People who pirate are simmers who for their own personal reasons choose to pirate because they can. Both the game and mods. Not just for TS4 but a lot of games. People pirate. People steal. People brake rules.

Alice Moore

I'm so sorry this happened to you!!!

Debra Davis

So I did a bit of deep diving on this group (out of curiosity) and I'm even more disgusted now! This Dollhouse Mafia group encourages folks to upload the cc they've obtain from creators, whether free or paid for, so that they can catalogue it and make it available to the everyone, bypassing the creator completely. This is abhorrent and we should make sure the entire community knows about it. I joined the group so I could get a closer look. I wonder if I should post the members user names just for funzies!! (JK-I would never dox someone). Gross!!!

Vanessa Reado

I am sorry...but.... Dollhouse Mafia??? Really??? I need a drink. I think I would have disregarded everything after that name

Kaylee Leigh

At this point, can't we all agree that modders are making the game still stand? The packs are sometimes awful. Modders save all of our games. Giving them money to have early access costs less than one pack of the game. And, if you can't wait, well, time is money. Keep doing a great job! I love your mods. ❤️🩷

SonozakiSisters

Hi! You can send the links to your translations in the comments under the posts. Thanks in advance <3

SonozakiSisters

Thank you! I love the game itself, it brings so much fun for me since I was a child, but it's really impossible for me to play vanilla too

SonozakiSisters

Yeah, that's why I never felt as if I had lost engagement, feedback or financial benefits

SonozakiSisters

You're absolutely right. I'm always open about being an anxious person, and the beta testing period is such a relief. I think it's fair to say content creators, like, own the efforts to release CC or mods. We all should respect of each other's hard work – that's the best way to keep community a good and safe space where people can stay engaged and make more fun things. I mean, I don't support paywalled content, but I won't steal it either. It feels wrong to me as those people still spend time working on it, so I just avoid using their creations. Nothing goes better from breaking paywall, it's lame to pretend that it can punish someone who paywalls their content. In fact, it punishes the opposite group – creators who share free and early access content. Because it's very common practice of paywalled creators to send their content privately for each person so they can easily track who leak it – much harder and way more expensive to keep leaking their content. DHM basically rewards this attitude instead of 'punishing' it, LOL. And thank you so much for the support! I'm so happy you appreciate my twins' mod, it's very special work for me as the idea was the reason to become a modder.

SonozakiSisters

Well, in case you didn't know, that's how Robin Hoods look like these days :D So yeah, that's why I called them out – I believe there are many people who don't share their, umm, political views, so I'd like to let them know. Personally I think there is no crime speaking out about who's doing it – they're kinda proud of their actions anyway. Though, it's really hard to control the situation afterwards. People nowadays are really fans of doxxing and threatening. I would never compare them to Turbodriver in terms of their productivity and importance to the community, but I'm still freaked out by how people treated him while he was on vacation last summer.

SonozakiSisters

Guess I explained and stated far more than I should have in the comments section, as my point should have been clear from the post itself. I did this because I don't like shutting the mouths of people who may have a somehow different opinion – I just hoped you agreed with me in general and expressed support anyway. Some of you didn't appreciate that I prioritised this over my own comfort. It was a mistake and I will learn from it. I will block anyone who shifts the focus onto unnecessary details, defends these half-assed soldiers of justice, or tries to catch me on something (sure, guys, keep suspecting me of being part of their community). This is my own space, and I want to feel comfortable here. I have every right to demand it. If you don't agree, leave. Otherwise, you will be banned. The funny thing is that DHM's own rules state not to unnecessarily dogpile creators. At least stick to their rules if you can't bring yourself to respect me.

SonozakiSisters

Thank you for support! Used a translator to understand you but it was worth it ;)

Nicole puiia

I pirate from paywallers proudly but still support EA creators 💁🏼‍♀️ You can do both. And people do. You simply skip over content you know is from EA creators and make sure to get it directly from them.

Nicole puiia

I only download from them a few times a year in bulk but it’s disappointing that they’re posting EA content. That was supposed to be the whole point… 😕

June☆

that's understandable!

Marie King

Just what I was about to say. Love your mods although mostly I cant afford to support anyone for more then a one time deal. I think making mods is a lot of work and supporting them through endless patches even more so. Early access is not asking too much for making the Sims fun again.

frenchussay

Waiting 2-3 weeks to access someone's AMAZING hard work for free shouldn't make people mad? Content creators and modders have kept this game ALIVE. Sorry your hard work is being stolen, know that we value your work & stand with you! <33

SonozakiSisters

Thank you! Your and other people's kind comments make my every day better <3

ms_soxiall

It seems this all stems from the idea that “bad apples can influence good ones to create a larger batch of bad apples.” Some creators haven't maintained a consistent public access schedule, unlike you and others who stick to a regular rollout. I believe you and other responsible creators are unfairly impacted by those decisions. While I don't downplay the seriousness of pirating someone's hard work, I think the presence of unreliable creators has influenced some newer fans to become impatient and distrustful, mistakenly thinking you're like the rest. This is unfair because you have supporters who commend your talent, consistency, and transparency. Ultimately, I'm sorry both you and other honest creators are suffering because of a few wrongdoers. You don't have to keep doing this, and I'm glad you continue creating because you're truly talented and inspiring 💕!

Pauline

Oh since I have no clue how to make mods I'm grateful others do. And to me it's simple. Either pay or wait. Especially if it says exactly how long you have to wait. It's not nice if you go back after waiting and it's still closed. Or if you come upon cc that's years old and you need to pay 15 dollars. That said I don't think 3 dollars is much to pay. So as of today I'm a paying member. I do think people don't realise there is an actual person creating mods, taking time in their every day life we don't know what's going on in there. So that's not a small thing. It takes time and effort and work. It's fair to have it behind a paywall for a bit. Especially if noone knows if you actually get payed. To me its well earned. Ans I said it before I love your mods. My male sims are closer because of your twin mods. I love their little interactions. The other day my single very wild young adult male confessed to his brother he wanted a baby. His brother told him it was a bad idea. Loved it and agreed with the brother. I think you (and other creators)are doing an amazing job. My gameplay is increased so much since I discovered mods. I hope I can enjoy this one and many more to come.

Anaïs Rioux

The problem is that most cc creators HIDE the mods for months and years, which goes against EA and TOU demand on copyright. Yes, there are good creators that really do early access but there aren't many. I'll wait a week for cc, not 4 months

SonozakiSisters

And what do I have in common with those creators, like many others? It's clearly not the reason for DHM's existence.
