Hello, everyone!

If you're not aware, a few days ago YouTube removed my 2008 video Ferrets for, "minimizing a well-documented, major violent event." I suspect this was done by YouTube's AI moderation bot, which is famously bad at understanding context. This suspicion was all but confirmed when I appealed the decision and had my appeal denied faster than a human moderator could have watched the video.

I'm currently working with my MCN, Frederator, to try and get the appeal seen by an actual human, but whether or not Ferrets is allowed back this whole event has brought into focus how poor of a platform YouTube has become for the long-term distribution of artistic works.

While thinking about long-term distribution, I watched the version of Ferrets I had originally uploaded to the FilmCow High Quality Downloads folder, and thought there were a number of improvements that could be made. So, I grabbed the original lossless video export from 2008 and did a more modern, higher resolution, higher bitrate conversion to add to the folder. I then did the same thing for just about every other older FilmCow release.

In addition to that, I uploaded a number of FilmCow Extra videos, and also added a couple of very old projects to the "Archive" folder. All of this has brought the total number of FilmCow videos available for download to 286. (To access the downloads, see the pinned comment!)

Thank you so much for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy the higher quality downloads. It's comforting to know that even if the world's largest video platform removes a video from distribution there will still be good copies of it floating around out there.

youtube is perfectly fine with the part where that naughty ferret kills a guy and gets showered with his blood, but the single throwaway line is what does it for them. super weird! sorry they keep cracking down in bizarre ways.

Pretty sure I have everything you ever put out publicly, so of course updating to higher quality is an easy YES! :)

YouTube gets lamer all the time. Glad I’m here.

Instagram’s AI bots also do this. I had my Meta account that included my 19 years of Facebook, over $300 worth of games on Oculus Quest, over 100 followers on my art page on Instagram as well as all my friends online that I had no other way to contact. I requested a human review and they did something similar and denied the appeal faster than a human could even make a real decision.
