hello! i write to you from my childhood home in ohio where i have been communing with nature and arguing with my parents

welcome to those of you who came from the newest video! will be messaging you all over the next couple of days but for now, thank you very much for being here, am so happy to have you

in writing this update i seek to open up the floor....the patreon is still finding its feet and i am trying to figure out what the regular month-to-month updates look like.....i'd love to do a little experimentation with occasional advice column write-ups and hour-long podcast-style q&a sessions. if there's anything you think i might be able to offer some insight on, questions about whatever, career stuff, craft stuff, personal stuff – drop it into this form below. no urgency, i'll keep up with it and sift through as needed.

should it be possible on your Patreon to see again those incredible videos, at the beginning of your YouTube channel, when you were writing directly before us, and how you look at that now ?

Dalia

you’re so sweet to message all of us individually 💕

Harrison Timperley

Hey Sav, If there was a location where we can gush about excerpts from your writing. I'm new into your work but I take a pen to the book (sacrilegious I know) and take notes. I want to show you and the community my thoughts with the citations. Maybe this can be separate locations on discord per book plus poetry.

savannah brown

honestly feels like the least i can do ヽ(´ー`)ノ

savannah brown

lmao not sacrilegious here all my favorites are wrecked. that's a good idea!! i'll add a channel today

oddoneindeed

Cool idea. Looking forward to how this turns out.

It will just be sad when Sav gets so popular she can't manage to individually DM her fans :D

Dalia

the absolute gall of asking what a cat is when you have a cat yourself is mad as a march hare

hello im here for therapy. things have occurred in my life; i would like prescription substances please. i appreciate you! :)

Danielle Brown

your channel is the reason i signed up with Patreon here. ;) #poet #austinTX #autistic #etc PS - love that doomsday press has some artists slated for release and can't wait to check them out…oh, and also, very much look forward to "closer, baby, closer"…! thanks for—as the ubiquitous "they" (often nay) say, putting yourself out there in all the discomfort vulnerability demands and entails/entrails!

Im afraid my problems are much too serious, deep and complicated for an advice column

ŶNANG

Took me too long to jump in here, Sav!! Happy to finally be here. Already sent in 2 q's!!! Thank you for maintaining a personal connection to your audience and resisting the ad economy. You have my support from the beginning till our next lives, if there is even reincarnation!!

Casper Rawshark

When I signed up to your Patreon, I couldn't resist the good listener tier w/ the narrated essays and audiobooks. Your voice is pleasant to listen to and compliments that form of content very well! But above all else, I wanted to support one of the most awe-inspiring and emotionally resonant personalities on YT today, period, who has amazing insights on life and the human condition that help me understand myself and my inner mechanisms. Your creativity and the way you articulate yourself with the English Language never ceases to amaze. An absolute stream of consciousness. Please never stop creating art. We are here for it. :) Will sent off that form asap! My inquiring mind wants to ask and prepare good questions that aren't "so when next video rofl".

Bon soir, just moved out of the house where I grew up, trying to figure out what it means when I think of home now. Loving London though, the sweet and the dark.

Nika

oh dear i just sent my existential questions anyway

Xander Dream

I wish my problems were existential, nah my issues are with people unfortunately, so they are complicated and would take a probably a novel to explain. One of my ex's said that was always my problem though, trying to be an island, she also compared me to Atlas and Superman trying to hold the world on my shoulders. Maybe she was right, but life is also overly complicated.

Question: How do I feel confident about my poetry when I have had no training whatsoever and I'm in Computer science and feel like every poem I write is shit? My issue is that I feel like anything I write isn't gonna be any good compared to true poet masters!

Matt Baron

Not to be the guy that answers a question that was asked to somebody else, but I'm gonna be that guy. I also majored in Comp Sci and write shit poetry. I think you have to start somewhere and as long as you are being genuine and authentic in your artistic expression, I think that's plenty to be confident about. I think we learn through reading and even impersonating our favorite authors in the sense that trying on someone else's voice (ex. "How would Savannah Brown, William Blake, William Shakespeare, etc. write this?") can help you to imagine what you want your own voice to sound like. Also on a personal note, I've written a few poems before but I don't think that's my authentic or preferred medium. I have a cycle of writing about what's on my mind in increasing and decreasing complexity, working out a whole philosophical framework for understanding the mysteries of life and then after I feel like I "get it" I wind it back down and end up with something more like a proverb or a nugget of human experience in literary form, so I hope that if I stick to whatever naturally flows out of me then my creative expression will manifest itself in exactly the way it should. Also, training is overrated and so is celebrity worship. The masters are not only your teachers but also your peers. Before the Buddha reached enlightenment, he too was just a guy.

Hey Sav, i love ohio (although I've never been) for a variety of reasons - and you being from there is one of them. (Bob Hicok's poem 'A Primer' is one of the other reasons)
