i think this idea applies to fictional characters too. it’s not an exact comparison (for one, the fictional characters themselves cannot be affected by the obsesser) but when i was young i often fixated on them in a similar way to what you described, one character in particular. it was very obviously an outlet for my emotion but i viewed this person as real in my own mind, convinced that one day i would find an earthly equivalent. throughout this whole fixation, i too was completely miserable. it’s been interesting to deconstruct that fantasy, attempting to take all that misplaced love and give it a better home. i very much appreciate your insight on the topic, much to consider!

so many thoughts here i don't think i can do my usual one-line quip. i would love to see the last line expanded upon and I may write about it later... perhaps in a song or somthn. I like how you portray obsession as an unwellness but not a disease. i think its really easy to paint it as abnormal when that kinda just what humans do? i am routinely reminded how much the audio is worth paying for; thank u for the words.

This is so great! I think that there are many complex concepts here. Everybody wants to be loved for their being and tend to judge others on their doing or having. I know I have a history of hiding who I am with what I do and have, and I've seen a similar trend with those that I interact with. Why would it surprise you to have people not really understand you when we can't even see past the masks to understand those people right next to us? Second idea is that love is a personal feeling that exists within an individual and not between people. A person can love, as much as their understanding and capacity allows them to, without receiving anything in return. This is what the whole idea of fame is based on. A person is loved, respected, cared about, lusted after... Without being known deeply. i don't understand why attempting to breach the fame relationship through normal relationship-building skills would be an issue if done respectfully. I may not know because I don't have much fame... Is it just the ratio of negative interactions per positive interaction is bad?

This is one of my struggles. One I've been wrestling with for a long time. This resonated with me, unnervingly so. Thank you for sharing this. You've given me yet another thing to think about.
