We're happy to announce that ETS2/ATS Lighting Improvements v2 has reached 30 000 active players in just 5 months, thank you so much for the incredible support ❤️

Meanwhile I am still working on v3 and I will keep updating v2 for new game versions until v3 released.

v3 – Planned improvements for the initial release

New lighting/tonemap algorithm

New sky system using real HDRIs like v1 (including sunlight/night for dynamic time of day)

New road textures with proper data for rain/snow

v3 – Planned improvements (not sure) for later releases

New vegetation

New textures for ground

Dynamic imperfection/dirt system for environment/vehicles

To be honest mate you've done an absolute amazing job transforming how the game looks especially when it rains, and with you giving the ability to adjust things with your overlay and adding PNG and project ultimate into the mix, it makes it even better again. The only thing I can truthfully say is the ghosting is still visible for me on the drivers window, so I'm hoping you could look into that and rectify it soon. Other than that you've done a fantastic job 👍

Do you know if there is anyway to optimize better for VR or is it even worth it to try?

You can try to lower mirror quality and plugin quality setting but for actual good performance forward rendering needed for VR to reduce vram usage, I might try to do that later but its not priority currently :/

The VR community truly thank you Snowymoon! I just use the basic TAA mod and its a life saver. Keep up the good work :) :)

Just use the regular TAA mod and try DLSS, set in game scaling to 50% and increase r_manual_stereo_buffer_scale. Most of the problems are with the game engine using a single thread. for that you can set uset g_lod_factor_parked "0.2", uset g_traffic "0.7", uset g_pedestrian "0". Drop anything that is a CPU hog. The lighting mod kills my pc though, hence normal taa.

ok so i tried lighting_v2_0_35 and lighting_v2_3_1 and the reflections on wet roads are all just black smearing and does not look good so went back to lighting_v2_1_0 in the same place as the black smearing reflections and it was gone and looks perfect so for now i will be sticking with lighting_v2_1_0 - i do have screenshots but cant post them here :(

Both 2.1.0 and 2.3.1 are same for roads/reflections, I just fixed rain/snow particles and rain drops :(

I have two computers, one with an Nvidia graphics card, which works quite well with the files, but the other has an AMD RX560 graphics card, which causes the game to lag and slow down, and an AMD processor with new integrated graphics. So i have looked in to it and it seems microsoft update kb5074109 has messed with Nvidia drivers and causing all sorts of graphical problems - lets hope they fix this asap :(

For the AMD RX560, it's obviously due to the 4GB of memory it has. It's too little, even with 8GB you have to make sacrifices. For the Nvidia, you didn't tell us which one you have, so I conclude that it's better than AMD.

on ETS2 version 1.58, i have noticed that some roads and company floors are still dry during a heavy rainfall. Especially in Nordic horizon DLC and Greece DLC. it does not look good.

Hi Snowy, I have a Tier 1 Patreon membership for ETS 2. I installed the paid files correctly. My game is on DirectX 11 and version 1.58. For some reason, when I try to enter the game, it doesn't ask for a license key, and when I press the End key, I get a "connect error." I've uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times, but it still doesn't ask for a license key; the "connect error" message remains. I don't know what to do. Can you help me? Is it my fault or the files? I'm looking forward to your continued success, man <3

Yes, I installed Lightning Improvements v2. I don't have an antivirus program; I only use Windows Defender. I don't know why.

Just want to say, I've been eyeballing this mod for a few days and finally pulled the trigger and bought the 6 month option. AMAZING! ! ! I haven't sat down and enjoyed playing a game in so long until I installed this! Fantastic work you are putting out! Looking forward to future updates and what you have to bring to the table. I cannot thank you enough for what you have brought to this awesome community! Only a couple of issues I've found so far after a few hours of gameplay. Under tunnels, the road is still wet/flooded while raining and during the night when it's raining, when the lightning lights up the sky and the road, the road around is dry when the lightning strikes. But from what I've read so far, this is what is being worked on. Nonetheless, a beautiful mod! So happy with my purchase as this is my first paid mod in all the games I play! And I never leave reviews for anything but THIS, THIS deserves my time to say Thank You!

I am busy for a few days, working on auto shader system for roads to fix dry/wet roads, it is taking time because it is pretty complex. Meanwhile: - For ETS2/ATS 1.58 update download plugin version 2.3.1 from website and replace dxgi.dll from bin/win_x64 folder. - If you have black screen, try "Disable Windows HDR (if its same try to add this "-color_mode sdr" https://snowymoon.io/img/hdr.png )" or try to use TAA/Clarity instead of DLSS/DLAA - If you have connection error, it might antivirus blocking license check or regional block/issue, try to disable antivirus/whitelist plugin+game, try to use vpn if you think it is regional block/issue - To use on Free Sundays, you just need to download 2.3.1 from website and install the plugin, you don't need license key to use on Sundays

some roads are not wet in rain game 1.58 with 2.3.1 but was ok in v2_0_35_19 with 1.57 when turning of the mod with aa off then road become wet again

Hello, for some reason, I am experiencing poor anti-aliasing in the game. I have tried all the settings on ultra and 100 and 200% scale. Also, the night exposure slider is not working. How can I fix this?

30K Players but no feature update since 1.56. I'm still waiting the HDR fix. I'm tired of deactivate the HDR everytime for starting the game. Can you release the HDR update before v3? We have to wait until next year for v3 i guess :/

I've tried every possible method described on the site, but all have failed. With and without mods, with and without reshaders, even after reinstalling the game and creating a new, clean profile. Any update for 1.58 to fix dry roads like in Berlin and many other places? 1.57 was 95% fixed but 1.58, 60 to 70% of the roads are not fixed. I've removed all plugins and everything inside x64 (not the ets2.exe) verified the game files and reinstalled your mod inlcluding dlss, deleted config.cfg but it's still the same?? https://files.fm/u/xmsnv4k6sj

In my opinion, there will not be future updates for V2. I think Snowy now working full time on V3. At least I hope so...

To be fair mate if that's the case then I think that's really bad! Because 1.58 just came out which was bound to have some issues. So unless V3 is coming out within a few weeks time, then not continuing to support V2 is really bad practice and could lead to people cancelling their subscription. You'd think he would fix V2 straight away to keep people happy and get what they paid for, then once that's done or at least 90% of it. Then should work on on V3.

Brother, I really love the mod — it’s honestly the best money I’ve ever spent on this game. I know you’re working on V3, so I wanted to ask if you could improve how metallic paint jobs are handled. Right now, when I use metallic paint, it appears matte instead of having that proper metallic shine. Also, I recently changed my PC and I’m now using an Intel graphics card (Intel B580). It doesn’t seem to work very well with your mod — definitely not as well as when I was using an NVIDIA card. Other games run fine, but with ETS2 and Snowymoon I experience a lot of crashes, especially when taking screenshots.

Just want to say that the 2.3.8 update is a massive improvment as in no more shimmering lamp post - only thing that seems odd now is the step from day to night is a bit weird as you can see it getting dark in stages but apart from that its getting a lot better :)

Hi I was just wondering if anyone is having this issue when combining reshade with snowymoon v2 on ets2 1.58, but basically when ever I use both of them together I get some sort of frame time issue like ill move my mouse and it won't move until like 5 seconds later and it happens with the wheel as wheel where there seems to be a delay sometimes with when I turn to get the game actually wants to turn the wheel. When I use snowymoon by its self its completely fine but with reshade there's an issue. Also I know its not my specs because I have a 3090 and a i9 12900k with 64gb DDR5 and ets2 installed on a m.2 SSD so my specs are fine. I was just wondering if anyone is having this issue or can help me figure out why it's doing what its doing. Thanks in advanced everyone :)

Can confirm the latest download from snowymoon.io causes crashes in ATS as of 10:53am Pacific 4-16-2026. I know 1.59 is close so not at all surprised with some bumps :-) We all know snowymoon will get em ironed out. (This is in 1.58 btw not beta)

got 2.3.19 for 1.58 ATS and still crashes randomly. More stable than the previous build but not 100% yet. No rush, rolling back to the previous build from Feb works just not as nice

The program crashed due to the road shader, and a pop-up window appeared asking me to send the error file via email & "RT coler textre(40:9275) creation failed" error occurs.

Hello Snow Moon SCS did a small update earlier, about 700MB, and now the game crashes again and the textures suddenly look so blurry. Could this somehow be because of your mod again? It worked fine before.

2.3.32 was a very good update. the next update should add wet surface to gas station, company and garage... some of them still dry
