han

eeee this is one of my fav episodes bc it's when the drama really starts 🤭 plus kim and porchay finally get full introductions!!

Yemidotcom

Everytime I see this episode pop up somewhere I just go “…oh no… here we go” Lmaoo she’s an Old Testament kinda girl Also Jeff is beautiful but he does dress like a 2010s Jonas Brother lol

netzie

I would kneel for Bible. Say a little prayer and watch out for Vegas :)

Lisa M T

Oof this episode is when the controversy started for the fans. It did result in a LOT of discussion amongst viewers and reactors about what constitutes consent with intoxication. As a much older person I was happy to see young viewers getting educated on the topic

han

but also... the discourse surrounding this ep GIRL

netzie

RJ! Bible's a very interesting person! also, 4 minutes is good too!

Dancey Fun

I got in fights over this episode. I was shocked at how many people didn't understand dubious consent. I think looking back the issue was the show got so much push back because it was explicit. So people were defending the show and somehow thought they had to defend dubious consent too....that was a rough period.

netzie

the glasses name is Bas. Oh you gotta watch him in 4 minutes too

jas

imo this was rape. full stop. ive never truly forgiven kinn for this tbh

lucy

the guy in glasses and the body tea is in 4Minutes, same as Bible and Fuaiz and JJ who were in DeadFriendForever, you have to watch 4 Minutes after this pls!🙏

NicNac

The guy in the glasses, Bas plays Korn in 4Minutes alongside Fuaiz and Bible. I honestly had to do a double take when i watched it. Because the difference in characters and just overall acting skill from KP and 4Min is insane. You would never know they were the same person.

Sevvy4ever

I NEED your reaction to 4 Minutes after KP lmao For real though...

Tina Oestreich

What annoyed me about the discussion around the episode were the few people jumping to "the show is excusing it" without even waiting for the next few episodes to air. Like, patience, my guys. But I agree, overall it was a good and constructive discussion to have

Nathan

Man this is like the worst episode to me. Such a hard watch. The peak of the worst I feel for Porsche

netzie

i live for RJ and Adam's reactions. i love it here.

Stefan

Kinn's intense eyebrows when he watched Porsche through the door at the beginning really reminded me of Maki 🫣

kayleigh

i’ve noticed in all the be on could shows i’ve watched (kinnporsche, dff, 4minutes) there is some sort of sex scene where the consent isn’t completely there and then they just sort of brush over the fact they were just raped. idk if it’s because the character isn’t outright saying “no” that even a lot of the audience overlooks it too? and it gives the storyline a fucked up way to add a sex scene bc all these boc shows are FUCKED UPPPPP

Lisa M T

Very true. All the people wanting BL to be like fairytales.... This kind of thing happens in real life. Avoiding difficult topics is not what art should do.. IMHO.

Lisa M T

But they DID address this later.

kayleigh

they did and i appreciate that and its why i said “sort of”. just something i had noticed while watching these shows. like its not even the only time in happens in kp

Eleonora

The bible puns had me crying laughing

Lisa M T

True. it certainly got attention and got people talking about it

Lisa M T

He is my MVP of the whole series. I love all of them and wish Jeff had much more screen time, but Bible knocked it out of the park for me.

el

I mean at least in KP it definitely wasn't brushed off lol, not by the fans or by the characters. But in the other shows, yeah.....

el

The discourse around this episode was absolutely WILD. But I was happy I kept watching the show and that the dubious consent wasn't just ignored by the characters. Also this is imo where the plot seriously picks up.

DMays0711

When you said "The 8" for Tay cracked me up because he really does resemble Minghao and maybe "God's Menu" era Changbin, or a mixture of the two. Just saying.

BaoziBang (Tali) 🏳️‍🌈

I don't think there is a single NC scene in any of these shows that simply brushes it off... For 4Minutes if you mean BasFuaiz then the show clearly shows how toxic their relationship is the whole time so I personally feel that's addressing it plenty.

kayleigh

for 4minutes i was talking about when tyme films him and great doing it and then nobody really cared that much at least about the violation part of that situation. i guesssssss it makes sense for great’s character to not gaf but still interesting. i haven’t finished 4minutes yet, so idk if it is address in what i haven’t seen!!

MBATNY50

The production on this show is next level. Both actors micro expressions are so impactful and never make you feel like they are acting. It is so well done. I couldn’t wait for you guys to get to this episode.

Zharia 🩵💜

I usually get nervous when the BL boys step in front of mic & behind a guitar, but Jeff Satur is one of the few I trust completely to not embarrass me🙂‍↕️

Kyle Mest

That part. 4Minutes is very inconsistent when it comes to who and what actions are deserving of moral punishment. There are multiple moments that just get written off that are major holdups for me and ultimately made me feel the show doesn’t stick the landing romantically. Still an engaging and enjoyable show I’d recommend watching if you like thriller and a bit of metaphysical mystery.

Auburn

between this and secret relationships, my anxiety is through the roof today 😭

dnh1286

All I can think is how did you not get spoiled about the bathroom scene of KP

tierra

FINALLY JEFFF

Kyle Mest

I didn’t watch KP as it was airing so it’s interesting to hear this episode sparked so much controversy given the other relationship plot lines later on in the show which I find far more problematic and less thoughtfully handled. In the next two episodes they at least take some time to show the harm done, and Kinn and Porsche at least in a roundabout way discuss what happened. Considering the unhealthy relationship dynamics, abuse and predatory behavior this show portrays and forgives later on, this is probably the one it handles best (admittedly a low bar). This is a show that pretty clearly sets itself within a fantasy world where they are 007 mafia bodyguards living in a hotel and these characters aren’t ethical people. They murder people left and right and deal drugs. The audience isn’t supposed to be modeling anything off of them; however, that fantasy can still normalize this behavior when the audience isn’t engaging with the content critically. And let’s not forget the novel authors/screenwriters Poi and Yok have self-posted evidence suggesting they were at least abusing their power over, if not sexually harassing members of the cast. I give them very little benefit of the doubt when it comes to the question of whether the writing romanticizes this type of behavior. I don’t think as a whole this show responsibly portrays abusive and harmful dynamics and actions; however, that doesn’t mean there isn’t entertainment value and parts of this show that are well done. There are a lot of great moments and elements that work really well. If these discussions were happening while it was airing, I assume most people enjoying the show also view it with the determination that these aren’t things to emulate or aspire to. Yay practical application of audience-reception psychical distance theory in media haha

Ashley

God you guys are so fucking funny 🤣🤣🤣

Ashley

The scene in the sauna when they are talking about each other’s brothers - I think they use the word Nong which means little brother specifically , right ?

Lisa M T

Yeah that whole narrative we got from Poi and Yok was disturbing.

ophelia

The discourse around this ep was WILD - people even pulled from the book to explain Porsche’s feelings on it all. This is where it truly starts to pick up, and from here on out it’s an amalgamation of PLOT *angst* *fluff* PLOT *smut* PLOT PLOT PLOT 🤣

Ophelia

4Minutes isn't a romance. And it wasn't meant to say some people deserve moral punishment and some people don't. Some people who deserved a better life didn't get it, and some people who were bad people ended up being forgiven/fine at the end. It's not supposed to be consistent.

el

Honestly I wouldn't recommend using the book for anything since all the characters are sooo different in the show lol, but ig we didn't know it back then

ophelia

Yeah, I never read the book myself 🤣 it was too confusing seeing what was different and what wasn’t

NicNac

I don’t think I’ve ever watched you two squirm as much or be so quiet in any other BL! 😂

Dan

It’s ok, you can say first in only friends

Kyle Mest

Every piece of media does a degree of normative moralizing even when it isn’t an explicit focus of the show. Direction of photography, sound, lighting, editing and writing all influence the tone of a scene and how the audience is supposed to read those characters and their actions. It’s in that where I argue the inconsistencies lie, not in which characters get away with things and which don’t. And their relationship is one of the primary plot lines of the show. I agree it’s not the main plot line or narrative that drives the show, but it’s hardly secondary or inconsequential to what drives the main characters

Lisa M T

Aww he was brave to be EXPOSED like that.

Hody🌹🩵

Kinn could have stopped so many times but choosed to continue because he thought only about himself and his selfish needs, I hate this with all of my gut because I wanted their first time to be special and out of love and instead we got a rape and poor Porsche wasted from drugs:(

Aloia Melón

I was voting for Jeff to be the AOTM a lot of times, because I KNOW that you Will LOVE and cry for his voice and songs!! Including OST of Kinn Porche. I Hope that you could make a reactiong of some of his MVs like you did with PP Krit!!

Annie LV

Hindsight is 20/20 but if I could recast I would have cast Jeff as Pete rather. Jeff/Bible chemistry is electric whenever they've interacted.

Clara V.P

came here for the controversial episode, stayed for the biblical jokes

Tracy

not the extreme makeover home edition reference from adam!

erindestinyy

Stawp!! Not it’s Yujin’s 18th today too. Y’all are some messy boots!😂

Brittany

RJ are you eating a banana with your hands???

GGatiny

I am so sat for the reaction of the rest I wish I could speed up the weeks just be prepared shit gets wilder.

Ophelia

I keep forgetting all the DFF actors in this. The boyfriend of "impaled"/Kinn's other friend is the teacher/tutor from DFF also.

Ophelia

Interesting perspective; I'd have to disagree. I feel like it was pretty obvious if something was "bad", "good", or "up for debate" in 4 Minutes.

wen

one day i pray u guys can watch the paradise of thorns. jeff is great in it, and the plot itself is so moving

S u n f l o w e r

Annie LV

I have PTSD from some of the comment sections over this episode. I would also say that in defending a show our morality was questioned and hence were made to feel that we had no choice in having to argue & justify our individual stance on dubious consent. Thankfully the show provided some salve in how they addressed it in later episodes.

Annie LV

God he's hot in that!!

Annie LV

But shooting a man point blank in the face no problem lol

Annie LV

Agreed. I couldn't (and still can't) understand all the Vegas lovers who couldnt forgive/understand Kinn.... I was like make it make sense.

Kyle Mest

So the show did moralize actions. But revenge porn is excusable? I don’t think you’d agree with that but that’s what the show brushes past which is the main point that started the discussion about 4 minutes.

Lisa M T

They are violent criminal thugs. A Jane Austen dashing romantic lead wouldn't fit in this story. Real mafia definitely isn't romantic, only in fan fiction.

박 사 랑

Had the pleasure of seeing Jeff live at their fan meeting in Seoul and boy can that man sing. Was the only who could sing honestly lol. And he is doing like a idol training show with BamBam and the 8 from Seventeen! All the Bible chapters and rebuking lol, I’m here for it. I can’t wait for u to see how they use that pool. Just … u will need something stronger than milk Adam lol

Ophelia

I did not say or imply that revenge porn is excusable. But I also don’t need a show to directly tell me that either. I saw what the character did, and that affects my opinion of the character. That’s much more entertaining to me to watch than shows directly telling if I should like or dislike characters based on their actions. That doesn’t mean they are “brushing past it”; it’s a mature show for mature audiences, therefore you should have the ability to form your own opinion.

Lisa M T

At the beginning of jewelry auction, I never noticed the Lawrence of Arabia musical score until now.

Kyle Mest

Storytelling inherently involves making a statement about what you are presenting just by presenting it. I don’t mean that they shouldn’t portray sensitive and traumatic events, because those stories deserve to be told; however, the way it’s framed is key to that presentation. Scoring is a prime way shows influence the emotion of a scene. If in ITSAY during one of the really emotional crying scenes, it were scored with boopty-doopty comedy clown music, we’d criticize it as clashing with the action on screen. We’d still conclude the characters are going through something deeply emotional and painful, but that doesn’t excuse the showrunners from making a poor scoring choice. In the case of 4minutes and the revenge porn plot point, the cause and effect they portray and the time the show spends on it is not reflective of that action’s harm. Of course members of the audience draw their own conclusions about it (everyone discusses differences in interpretation for this reason). That doesn’t mean the show/showrunners are absolved from criticism about how they present things. You can enjoy a show even when it has plot-holes and still be critical of the writing because of said plot-holes. I’d also be critical of writing that gave an ethics speech after every bad thing that a character did (unless you are framing it like French absurdist theater). Criticism of handling of sensitive topics isn’t a repudiation of a show as a whole either. I want people to watch it because I think it is overall a successful thriller and it actually does a good job of creating a sense of mystery while actually having a clear explanation of how the different “timelines” relate which is no easy task (just look at the Lost finale).

Kyle Mest

I’m sorry with my prior phrasing since I was trying to avoid the implication that you thought revenge porn was excusable. That was not what I meant at all, but I didn’t make that clear enough. I have a tendency to write so fast I forget how insufficient text is alone in communicating tone and intent when compared with talking face to face 🙏

Ophelia

I understand your point of view entirely. I just disagree. It’s similar to how I think of something like Scream Queens. It’s about absolutely terrible people, but it’s funny, fun, has fun music over terrible things. You know they are bad people, you can enjoy the characters and even like them. That doesn’t mean you would like a real person that way. Because you should be able to separate fiction from reality. Same with something like Game of Thrones, no one who watches GOT thinks incest is okay. Media isn’t always trying to teach you something or voice a narrative or opinion. What is great about storytelling is that every person hears/watches/reads a story sees it differently, including the authors or creators. And I don’t think criticism is needed for those shows, cause they are telling a story. It’s entertainment, not always a grand overarching message.

Tina Oestreich

unironically i think apo is one of the best actors to ever start in a bl like. there's a scene in the next episode that wipes the floor with 99% of folks

Tina Oestreich

not next week?? that's always my get this man out of there episode

Ry_Noona

Y’all are hilarious. I feel like watching this with y’all, it’s like you weren’t prepared for something gay 😂. While KP start their relationship with extremely dubious consent, the show does do a good job handling it and redeeming it I think. And Vegas…sigh…I love Vegas. I hope y’all check out Jeff’s music. He’s so freaking talented that it’s honestly angering.

Tina Oestreich

I think you're predisposed to excuse stuff from characters you like because you're more likely to invest time and energy to see stuff from their POV or even try and understand how they think & decide. Completely different fando but there's a book fandom I'm in where people will frequently call a dude who literally killed a person and locked his brother in a bathroom for three days to detox less """"problematic""" (god I hate that word) than a dude who kissed someone without consent once.

Lisa M T

The trendy overuse of words like toxic, and trauma has made the terms meaningless. Almost all human beings are redeemable.

Lisa M T

Ohhh don't give too much away!!

Lisa M T

🤣🤣🤣

Lisa M T

He is so much sexier than he seems at first.

Lisa M T

Oooh have you watched those ship videos? ❤️❤️

Lynn Pratt

I too was very confused about how Porsche could leave his little brother completely alone for so long. But then I watched other thai bls and dramas and found out that it's actually not uncommon for Thai kids to go off and live on their own before college, especially in their last year of high school. They usually do it bc they can only afford 1 year at a nicer school that will help assure they get into uni, but it's not a boarding school situation w/ dorms so their family will get them a tiny studio that's basically an unofficial dorm. It's also not unusual for parents to live elsewhere temporarily for work and leave their teenage kids at home alone. Generally it's assumed that they'll be too busy studying to get into any trouble, and also nearby relatives or the community will help look in on them, more of a communal mentality in raising kids.

Tina Oestreich

I've seen this show multiple times but your commentary and reactions are honestly making it feel like the first time again lmao I'm loving this!!

Nathan

I mean this isn't where I STOP feeling bad for him lol It peaks in this episode and then it's a pretty solid plateau of feeling bad

mssmercedes

Hmm between Kinnporshe and DFF I definitely wonder how you guys would react to 4minutes.

i_nirvana

My change of pace suggestion would be Love Sick 2024, if you haven't seen it. It's so sweet and the chemistry of the main couple is great. Downside is that it's long.

Annie LV

Yes! The way Jeff & Bible flirt with one another. 🫠 I CANNOT! Ah if only....

Annie LV

I can understand bias and yes I too have been a card holding member of a fandom but I would hope that before I completely dump on a production or novel (or other fans for their opinions) I would have some level of literacy to critically assess the story without that bias. Due to all the controversy though I seriously feel the performances of both Apo & Mile were sadly overlooked.

Neeko

Lmao im cackling at Sofia the First

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

Your reaction for final scene didn't disappointed! I feel you hahaha wait for episode 7! Adam's “It too many men in this. I need a woman” crack me out 😂😂😂 And also I felt in love in Vegas (Bible) straight from the scene with a lighter! He is very controversial and complicate character, but that’s exactly why I love him so much! And his outfits (especially shirts) - its my weak point!

witchworks

as if i wouldnt watch a full recap series of murder she wrote

Cryptid

O.O lol I forgot how much these scenes showed Weeeelp

Ry_Noona

When Adam wants nice and Christian next: Deep Night, Love in the Air, PitBabe, 4 Minutes, Playyboyy, Bed Friend, Wedding Plan, Boy Next World, Your Sky, Wandee Goodday… 😇

Pepper

The way Adam tried to cover RJs eyes had me on the floor.
