don't even start, Adam. I find colours SO fascinating that I've written two academic theses on it, have accumulated over 500 pages of source material, have given multiple talks on it at academic conferences on the other side of the world (at Columbia University and a Korean university), have organized an international workshop on it with experts from many countries and all-in-all researched historical colours for over a decade, simultaneously giving lectures on the subject at my university. so if you're on the spectrum because of this interest where does that leave me?? you know what else is on the spectrum? COLOURS. speaking of, I think you'd be blown away by metamerism if you haven't heard of it. there are many types of metamerism but one of the most common ones is light source metamerism. basically, there can be several colours which appear interchangeable under one light source yet entirely different under another. as trichormats we see the red, blue and green wavelengths and neutral colors in particular can be mixed from many different combinations of these pigments, meaning that under one light source they all have the same e.g. gray colour but under another one will appear more reddish and the other more bluish because these pigments have different spectral wavelengths and absorb light differently. in the words of the Cyndi Lauper and her legendary gay anthem: only then can you see their true colours.
