I'm honestly convinced Yichen either was leaving because producers called him to help translate like people are saying or he did have explosive diarrhea for like 2 days and ran for the toilets. Because the thing is, they never explained where he went all those times and we know there are cameras everywhere so if he was up to no good, sleeping somewhere, fooling around with another team, kissing guys under the stairs, or punching out a staff member, they would've shown it. So I don't think it was being lazy or intentionally dismissive of his team.

I feel like mnet is just shoving the whiplash team 1 members down our throats as the ones who MUST debut. Ofc the producers have their favorites like last season Hanbin and Hao were ofc their darlings. But I was excited about Hao and Hanbin. I like An Xin just fine but I can’t bring myself to really care or he excited about him when there’s so many other C trainees that do excite me, but An Xin seems to be being edited at the only C trainee Mnet will allow to debut. It’s exhausting 😒 It just feels like the debut group is decided already and there’s no room for someone to have a Taerae man in love come out of nowhere moment

Sangwon has this amazing star quality and the training to back it up! So his unrivaled popularity (look at his Whiplash fancam) right now is both understandable and well-deserved. Also, I know that MNet is pushing the Wonxin (Sangwon-Anxin) agenda, but I am all for it as they are so cute and would definitely be amazing friends when they debut together! i feel a little bit bad for the sexy guy. i feel like he cant do anything right on the show. i dont think its that dramatic, how he is acting. but the show makes such a big deal out of everything. i like him,he gives a extra vibe and his voice is unique. they kinda give the vibe, like they cant stand him a little bit, but still everything on youtube from his team, just has him on the thumbnail. they love using him for the previews, even tho some things werent even said to him. (i even heard some translations are off, but idk about that) so i dont think he will go next round. i dont think he will make it to the group or to the finale, but he will make next round. he looks kinda done with the show/mnet and people obv dont like mnet, so they stan him, and are annyoed about the editing from him. (tho ofc some people dont like) but he gains popularity. also that one scene with him and sho dancing looks so funny/wrong cause of the high difference.

i geniusly dont get how the whiplash teams had such similar points. its not just cause they are more popular, but the avengers team was so much better. (almost everyone of them, so idk how people like junseon lost) i even saw some side to side comparison on youtube and the difference is insane (tho the other team also did well) at least they got the mc performane. i liked both rising sune performances, but red was a little better. tho some main vocal notes were off, with both teams. kill the romeo was so good. i really hope people like the boystory guys or suren, harry make it....also i think the all star tws performance was a little better, the only win i would have changed

Genuinely the highlight of my week has been seeing people recreate the kill the romeo breastfeeding (theres no better way to call it kdjfkf) scene its so fucking funnyyy, bringing back OG yaoi proportions flashbacks instantly. ++++ The rising sun winning team was the best performance for me, I can’t stop rewatching it. Its so damn good I dont care about the vocal mistake (this song is comically more difficult than any other in this mission tho like wtf??) this is the kpop i fell in love with !!! Dramatic and over the top with raw talent to back it up, Its my shit!!!

Chuei Liyu is growing on me. If he continues to improve, I won't be mad when he's in the lineup because he's going to be haha. Chung Sang Hyeon is the one that upsets me just because, there are so, so much more better rappers than him on the show. But I guess we want a visual idol rapper with no bars. We're gonna need a Park Gun Wook on the team to carry the rap so hopefully Nian Bo Heng, He Xin Long, Park Dong Gyu, Kim Si Wan, or Yeom Ye Chan gets on the team. I really hope Jiang Fan survives, but I don't expect him too. We can't have nice things haha. Idk where Oh Jun Ho came from but that dude can sing.

Literally Mr Sexy has me so torn. On one hand I'm like, you're here to be part of a group, you gotta learn to talk to them and work with them, you can't get by just practicing alone. And unfortunately, there will be times where you will need to give up personal ideas and sacrifice for the greater good of the group. BUT on the other hand, I find it hilarious that he's so unapologetically himself, refuses to be put in an ideal mold, and speaks his mind. Also fun to see the mentors and staff have to deal with someone like him because he seems so done with their mind games and isn't 100% obedient and folding to their words. The thing is, there's nothing contractually holding him on the show, he can leave if he wants to. But for some reason, he hasn't. So I'm guessing he ultimately does want to stay and perform. I do hope he learns to work with others better and I do hope he sticks around a bit longer because he keeps things interesting.

So. The thing about Jun il and why it’s maybe not acknowledged that he’s got Trainee A history is that he was one of the early potentials but was not a part of what would have been the final lineup. Yorch from POW was one of the potential final lineup though. Probably how Leo (and by extension Sangwon) ended up at GRID.

Why ask Mr Sexy if he’s okay if you don’t want to hear an honest answer like😭😭the judges would have reacted bad no matter what he said because they want sound bites to add to the edit, that’s it! It’s so annoying when they ask such a leading question just to tear a specific trainee down. I agree that he doesn’t really help himself, but they so obviously single him out, making it just an all round hard watch. 100% agree that the chopped vocals in rising sun were not impressive, all I could think in both teams performances was, why are we not giving the guys lessons on safer singing techniques?? I know they’re leaving them to fail cos it’s tv but please😭😭

The difficulty level difference is indeed insane but they did so well! It’s also a great chance that you can rise to the challenge. I’m still sad that Sun hengyu had trouble with his voice because I know he could pull it off. Not tvxq level pull it off obviously but like way better than most people. I love tvxq so much and all the early sm experimental stuff. It’s just so good! I wish they had more older kpop songs in these shows instead of just one or two. I was so hyped for infinite last time (and this time two in the 2nd episode).

the dog thing is literally mnet going "we can't be evil - allllllll evidence of treating many contestants like dirt to the contrary - bc look, our mascot is a puppy!" please. also the sangwon and anxin agenda is too unsubtle (they literally put those chairs together in the middle of the floor and had them "casually" sit next to each other). i enjoy both of them a great deal, but it makes me sad that the editing is forcing it.

sangwon star quality is incredible, you can't stop looking at him, he's so captivating without being exaggerated, not only that but he has all the talent and training to shine even more, he really is the best. overall the editing on the whiplash allstars team was really weird, they showed practically nothing of the group just sangwon and a little bit of anxin, they could have shown more about leo, yumeki, chingyu etc (yumeki literally adopted chingyu!!), so that was a bit disappointing. they're trying to push the wonxin ship but it's not going to work because it's obvious their dynamic is like older and younger brother, their dynamic is also very sweet since sangwon is a cutie quiet introvert and anxin is a cute extrovert social butterfly who gets along with everyone, on top of all that they are 18 and 22 years old haha anxin gets a good amount of screen time but it's always the clip hangers that insinuate that he's going to make some mistake, he's one of my picks so I never feel safe lol I hope they show more of his personality because I feel like we never know what he really thinks or how he feels. almost all of my top 8 are C trainees, so I hope hengyu, jiahao and kaiwen can shine in the next mission and climb higher in the ranking plss

i dont think they are shoving them town our throats. they are with the most popular members and dont have that much more screentime then the others. so ofc they are gonna make a bigger deal out of them. the entire team (mostly leo and sangwon) carry the views of the show, and axin is the most popular c trainee. he was even before the show, they know people wanna see them and how likely it is for them to end up in the lineup. it also doesnt always have to do with the screentime. woojin has like no screentime and is place 12/13 something like that. but yeah, they should give others more screentime. i think taerae was even standing out before that performance, but idk maybe someone can also this season

I think Mr Sexy should leave the show for his own well being at this point because it seems like being in an idol group and being on the show just isn’t conducive to how he works. It does feel like he’s become the go-to for the “evil edit” this season, but he is also giving them a lot to work with I can’t lie. I don’t think he’s actually evil but at the end of the day being an idol a part of a group is a job, and I don’t think this job suits his working style. It’s all good and well to be rebellious when you feel wronged but you don’t have the job yet so I’m not shocked the mentors were over it cause all they will see is him being confident and “sexy” but then not show up prepared or looking like he doesn’t want to be there even if he has good reason to feel like that 😅

First, the preview of this episode with the arguing had mistranslations according to those who understand Chinese, and then, when it airs, the translations were completely different. He also gained more Korean fans. Go figure. lol

Things that Mnet is pushing: Zhong Xing critics and WonXin moments. Mnet's editing is getting worse and worse. They're really pushing the HaoBin route. Don't get me wrong, Anxin & Sangwon are close friends as teammates but I feel an awkwardness on the screen. Especially when Sangwon is an extreme Introvert. (His speech is so cute btw, he talks a lot when nervous) Hsu Ching Yu also doesn't shine much in this performance. Yumeki only has adlibs as his lines, but he slayed his parts well. Also, besides the fact that they didn't show the numbers on the scores, mnet didn't show the judges' reactions when avengers team are performing. 👀 But they did when 1 stars are performing. They only showed the judges complimenting them after the performance and it was edited too. It's obvious Kanny's comment was cut in the middle like you've noticed.

I agree with everything you said but I don't see Anxin and Sangwon's dynamic as older and younger brother, seems like they're co workers/friends that are getting to know each other. Anxin (younger) was the one helping cheer up Sangwon (older), so I don't see the younger older dynamic at all. I do think they're becoming friends and still getting to know each other, that's why a some people say there's an awkardness between them, because they're still figuring out their dynamic, but not to the level of saying they're brothers. Leo and sangwon have a sibling dynamic tho, that fits them more. but Anxin and Sangwon we don't know how their dynamic is going to be like, those videos were days after they met each other for the first time in the c and k group merge, so they were still getting to know each other back then, now they're probably friends

ahhh i have so many Thoughts about this episode and these results. not really any of them good lol. i don't agree with 1-star plot twist winning, kill the romeo went about how i expected, and they spent so long building up to whiplash but even that felt anti-climatic?? don't even get me started on mnet awkwardly pushing wonxin.... rising sun though... whew. they really shouldn't have given this song to trainees to start with tbh, but man!! i don't even disagree with team 1 winning, but it's nuts to me how big the difference in the scores were? i can't believe dongyun is the ONLY person who won team 2's matchup?? and mnet tried to edit jiang fan badly in the team 2 package too... i really thought he'd be getting some better traction after his signal song test, but instead let's add it to the counter of "how many times jiang fan has gotten totally robbed by an audience vote." 😭 when will he get appreciated!! aoshi deserved better too imo (also sorry i just didn't think andrew's opening was very good especially compared to jiang fan... and andrew's favorite artist being chris brown put me off of him instantly after his pr videos anyway lmaoooo) idk i have a lot of Opinions about the rising sun performances (why did BOTH teams decide to give main vocal + killing part to the same person... i could go on forever) and how they shook out. hengyu looked gorgeous though and i hope he doesn't speak for the next two weeks to rest his voice :'(

I can't say I like Zhongxing personally, given his interactions with his team, but I feel like they also kind of set him up in that exchange with Seokhoon. Keeping in mind Zhongxing doesn't speak any Korean, he's relying on what phrases he has picked up and the translator who I have to assume is in the room. So the master asks "Does anyone want a different part?" This is a straightforward question, so he raises his hand. And then Seokhoon looks at him and asks "Are you okay?" Again this is a QUESTION BEING ASKED TO HIM. I don't know if he knows the phrase by now or a translator tells him, but he again answers the question honestly. He isn't okay, he's tired, and since the master asked, that's what he'll say! Seokhoon then scoffs and completely dismisses the answer. I feel like, in Korean language and culture, that question was asked with the expectation that you will act like everything is fine. That's clearly what Seokhoon expected. But if a translator is giving him the literal translation, or he just knows generally what the phrase means, Zhongxing probably just took it at face value. Like he looked genuinely baffled by how the exchange went. Why would the master ask what was wrong if he clearly didn't want to hear any complaint?

I feel like the choice of Yusen as main vocal for his team was kind of doomed from the start. A lot of times on these survival shows, they'll pick a main vocal based entirely on their range. Yusen just....naturally has a high voice. But he really doesn't have any singing technique to speak of. He isn't resonant or supported, and his throat is tense. Hengyu DOES have technique, and it showed. Even though he was singing his last adlib in an unhealthy way to make it through the song, when you listen, he IS on the note. Even sick, he has the technique to get through it. Yusen wasn't sick, but he couldn't maintain through the entire song because he doesn't have any vocal stamina. That happens fairly often on survival shows, because I think a lot of these trainees don't know what technique actually sounds like.

since u all keep asking about the sponsorship, south korea has very strict rules about showing logos even if u are a sponsor. you are only allowed to show it for a very short time. that's prob why they had to blur the northface logo. even on variety shows like with drinks, they only show them drinking a bit but the rest of the time is either blurred or they turn it around. also why very few ad breaks. cos most of the ads appear in a block after the show. that's why the start times of programmes are also very weird there.

I would like to put my 2 cents into the HZX situation. Specifically how he ultimately decided to focus on the "creative expression" for his performance. I have been consuming China's variety show performances since as early as 2018. It has now come to a point in China where singing and dancing is not entertaining enough anymore and nowadays they love to have a gimmick, to no end. I think HZX is just influenced by that performance rubric and unfortunately I think it's tacky in China and I think it's tacky here.

It doesn't help that they're always in a rush when it comes to getting these performances together so there isn't enough time for them to properly learn how to sing properly. Yes there are vocal masters who know how to teach it but they're only there for a limited amount of time, and especially in the first performance round, there's 80 guys so they're not going to be able to do in depth teaching for every trainee. So then it just comes down to whatever techniques the trainees came in with or whoever happens to be on their team. I really think they should've saved Rising Sun for like a 2nd round performance and have it be a Vocal&Dance mission, then they'd probably get trainees who are actually strong vocals to take on the challenge and usually by this round, the vocal masters can focus more on refining techniques with the trainees. Also personally, I think Jiang Fan would've been a better choice for Main Vocal because that guy can SING despite being a main dancer, but he was still recovering from being sick and his voice wasn't in good condition.

I watched the full ver. stage cams on yt before watching the episode and honestly I was really impressed with the one star whiplash team's performance, especially Daniel. I definitely think the all star team did better overall/was more cohesive but I understand why a lot of the one star team members won individually. I think they seemed more into the song and their expressions were on point

There's plenty of star quality I think Mnet is just choosing not to focus on it as much. Seems like they have a very strong idea of who they want in this group which isn't new but this season it feels even worse because they had to rush to eliminate so many people and we barely got to know anything about half of them

“Killing Romeo” teams I personally love Mr. Sexy! He’s real and charismatic — and that quality is really rare in the K-pop industry. For me, that’s an advantage! And when he threw the loser sticker I was like — yes, queen 👏👏👏! You have my vote! And his words about the creative idea — he’s got a point. He really shone thoughout the performance because of it! The rose and lipstick on the neck made a great impact in my opinion! About the second team - they really got all of us with Suren and Li Zi Hao, because I also thought he would be against the decision to change the leader. “You beat him in looks” at 1:27:54 was an adorable moment! I love Suren’s voice! It sounds unique when he sings. And he has that sassy aura during performances — I love it!
And their main vocal (unfortunately I don’t remember his name and notice him only now) was really solid!

Lee Sang Won was born to be the center of the group! 1:49:22 — “We all fall for a straight boy before” comment cracked me up 😂 Kim Jun Seo is truly eye candy (sexy version)! And Leo’s vocals are always on fire! He and Sang Won 100% will be in the final group — and that’s the only right decision! But I was really surprised at how well the second team performed! Danial made crazy progress and killed his role! The 2:09:07 moment was amazing! I also really love Bang Jun Hyuk — his deep voice and swag added flavor to their performance! I don't feel like there are trainees that really hold and grab my attention. They are still talented but compared to pass seasons of survival shows since Produce 1, I can't really say someone will debut for their talent but rather for sheer popularity. Maybe as the next missions come I will feel different but tbh by this time last seasons we had our Somi, Kang Daniel, Wonyoung and Sung Hanbin.

Honestly, I'm obsessed with Jiang Fan's intro since they released the individual fancams a week early. Originally I started watching Dongyun's fancam first but I heard that intro part and had to switch to Jiang Fan's fancam IMMEDIATLY. It was the PERFECT vocal for Rising Sun. I never heard anyone else do it better except for TVXQ themselves. If you watch the full cam you can actually hear gasps in the audience when Jiang Fan starts singing 😅 (Which, thinking about it, only adds to the frustration that he got so much less votes) My vote was with the blue team, I mean kudos to Heng Yu for even singing at all, but my ears would've thanked him if he didn't... (The Jiang Fan Rising Sun fancam had such a grasp on my life for the last two weeks, I don't even have an opinion on anything else happening in this episode)

tvxq was my ult as a teen and i don't know if beloved of the month includes 2nd gen but it would be amazing if you could do a retrospective on older groups. It's so interesting how the kpop genre has evolved to become more western sounding but the SMP genre has always been a staple of SM groups. also of course the trajectory of ot5 and how they split into jyh and homin is also really fascinating to dive into (even though back then it really broke the fandom)
