Interviewer: The latter ZY: In that case, [I/you guys] can really look forward to it. Because for the next two months for almost everyday we have tons of scenes together. Interviewer: How many times have you read the script? ZY: 2 almost 3 times. Interviewer: Do you like WSW as a character? Ziyu: WSW is kind of similar to me. Because in my life Im a pretty stingy person. If I can not spend money, I don’t. You can’t really say I’m a loser, but I am pretty introverted. Whatever happens to me I pretty much feel it’s fine/whatever/no big deal. Not the character WSW, but I do feel “whatever”. Interviewer: Aside from that do you like other traits from WSW? Ziyu: I feel WSW has this strong determination and desire to achieve his goals by any means. He’s a very strong willed person, including later when he falls for Chicheng. It’s not that I’m actually gay, but I’m gay for him and I can only be gay for him and only him. And it’s only ok when it’s him. (Not a typo, he repeated that 4x) Interviewer: So how was your first scene with Chicheng when you exchanged glances? Ziyu: Honestly it was a little far I couldn’t see his eyes clearly Background: Ziyu won a talent show and got put into a boyband where he was severely bullied and beat up by his team member. His company chose to protect the bully and kick him out, leaving him in 60,000(?) in debt. Since then he’s been working as a salesperson at clothing stores, taking odd jobs, just earning whatever he can to get by. He lived pretty normally just taking a bus or biking to work and was super frugal to pay his debt off, I guess that’s why WSW really resonated with him.

Don't know if this has been mentioned in a comment on the ep 1+2 video, but the snakes WSW keeps buying aren't meant as pets, they're for being killed and used in traditional Chinese medicine. That's why it was a point that the one batch had their gall bladders removed, because it's one of the main ingredients. So the breeder was basically selling WSW duds.

The novel/source work for Stay with me is just as unhinged (just more polished perhaps?). So if you ever have time or want to compare out of sheer curiosity, check out Addicted from 2016 and you’ll definitely see that it’s from the same author. It got banned/ cancelled halfway through but still worth the watch - quite good cinematography for a bl of that time as well.

It does tone it down after ep. 9. They are still there and I dont think there are any episodes without them but they go from 10+ scenes per ep. to 1-2 tops.

My understanding of Chi Chengs relationship with the girlfriend is that he is a fully gay man and part of the deal to eventually get his snakes back is to have a job at the company and bring a girl home since being gay is no no. So he doesn't actually like Yue Yue and is just using her to a means unfortunately.

yeah I definitely got the impression too that he's either gay or heavily prefers men and definitely doesn't want to get hetero married. I mean the only other person he's loved is his ex-boyfriend. Yue Yue is absolutely a beard only. although she would quite suit this role since she is a gold-digger who only cared for his money not attraction anyway and was using him ever more so I have no sympathy towards her. although she is hilarious as a character lol.

Oh definitely, even the cuts that made into the shows had so much vulgarity, most platforms toned down the subtitles but my critic is not that, it is the way Gaga didn’t even try to sub it well. Inaccurate is one thing but grammatical errors? that’s one strike too many lol. I’m not sure about Viki but I heard it is equally bad. I still think Viu has the best translation for this show

Agreed with your point on the recaps! Honestly I don't think much happens in this show, I just have it on in the background and enjoy the mess. ABO desire is very similar, there isn't really a plot as much as random scenes (that i very much enjoy) thrown together. I really wanna say I actually do enjoy these cbls but everyone is REALLY overhyping them

There's a plot - it's just unhinged, nonsensical, and more convoluted than it needs to be. The endless conversations at this point are meant to show two things: 1. They're getting closer 2. They're both playing games with each other / scheming and aware of it. It's a silly show, and it's works best if you park your brain and have fun on the ride. Or enjoy laughing at the silliness.

This is so many weeks old but to answer Adam's question for anyone who wants to know: yes! We do have bruise medication in the states! It reduces swelling too, so I buy the gel type because I have a wrist with an old injury + arthritis. It works wonders! My favorite brand is ProCure 👍

The actor playing Wu Souwei actually blew all those sugar figures. The asked him if he'd be willing to learn before filming and he did. And the one playing Chi Cheng isn't crazy about snakes but he spent time with a trainer to help get more comfortable with them.
