So Mala is a specific type of spice/Seasoning that's known to be numbing and spicy "Ma" and "La" literally translates to Numb and Spice. MalaTang literally translates to Numbing Spicy Soup/Stew (Tang). Mala Xiangguo is the same spice but in a stir-fry pot (xiangguo). Basically the common denominator is the Mala spice, it has this type of peppercorn that literally gives your mouth a numbing sensation for like a second then the spice hits you. Its an expiriance (at least for me it was).

About the defensiveness you guys were speaking of, personally from the moment I saw how many votes JL got in comparison to other contestants, I knew once the group debuted there might be friction here and there between fans of the most popular members and unfortunately I haven't been wrong. I've seen it so many times with other groups that I've been worried about it since Universe League. Like imagine watching your own fans clash with fans of another member or attacking another member to 'protect' or 'defend' you from something you don't need protection or defense from. Hopefully nothing ever gets too bad or too blown out of proportion that it actually affects any of the members.

the resident toogether popping in re: whether woongki was Like This while he was in too/to1 yes he was! he had this personality even back on world klass (the survival show that initially formed too). he was the maknae of that group, so i do feel like the dynamics were a little different obviously, but woongki has pretty much always had a very strong personality. it was pretty common knowledge among fans that he had shown explicit support for the lgbt community pre-debut, so he's always been unapologetic and open about who he is. it's part of what initially drew me towards him!! i do feel like woongki's mindset has matured - which is natural. he's in his 20's now and debuted the first time at, like. 17 years old - but i think his personality, how quick-witted he is, etc. have been very consistent since he first debuted in 2020 imo. it's been a few years, though, so it's always possible my memory is failing me lol the way daisuke imitated woongki on idol human theater... him calling woongki 'queen' on dkdk club, though. daisuke is picking up EVERYTHING from these hyungs of his lmaoooo they're teaching him RIGHT. very happy to see more ahof :') after unileague, i didn't think i would fall for them as hard as i have hehe

While his energy did go through the roof somewhat in the AHOF debut varieties, in general he's pretty much the same as he was in TOO/TO1. I must have seen most, if not all of TOO's content, and I can't say that Woongki ever felt held back or muted at all 😂 I don't know if you know this, but in TOO Woongki was also part of the unofficial official subunit "TOOwice" with Jerome (ONE PACT Seongmin) and Minsu (who you don't know) and they used to do girl group dances at every opportunity 😌

I don't know if you meant it the same way as me, but I want to clarify the "relaxed/safer" because I have seen these discussions online and I don't want to shed the group in a false light. "Safer environment" in terms of the company: sure, of course, but I want to be clear that it never felt like the other members of TOO/TO1 were uncomfortable with or hostile towards Woongki. They weren't quite as "out there" as the AHOF members and except for mostly Jerome and Minsu didn't join in with his antics quite as enthusiastically, but he was still their beloved maknae and he was treated as such
