Heyoooo! It's Comic Book movie time! We figured the Blade movies would be perfect to watch during October! I'm so excited to get to know this character. As it stands I don't know anything other than the fact that his movies are vampire themed! Which sounds so fricken fun!

Vampire styles, features, abilities, vulnerabilities are very different from one author to another. I wonder what is your favorite depiction of vampires. Maybe it's too soon to ask. I don't know if you saw many vampire movies or series aside Blade and the Lost Boys.

“Some mother f*@kers are always trying to ice skate uphill.” 🤣. Still one of my favorite movie lines.

Spiffy choice!! It's disgrace how they framed him for tax evasion when in reality his financial advisor was defrauding a bunch of actors including Natalie Portman, Al Pacino, Stalone and other. He even reported it to the authorities and was ignored. The final nail was where they held the trial, a place he had no connection to with people who the government claimed were trustworthy yet ultimately perjured themselves and a jury made up of 12 white people since, to this day still unexplained, officials sent all non-white jurors home before the selection.

The style, fighting, and atmosphere and lore are really great in this. The acting and dialogue are god awful. I love it! Thanks for watching with us.

That WAS Credence you heard Whistler listening to.

I think I've been dancing to the opening techno song for 27 straight years. I'm so tired, but I just. can't. stop. dancing. In all seriousness, this (along with The Matrix) probably sparked my love of electronic music. I've been listening to it ever since. Never realized where it started until now!

Thank you! That was great fun, I haven't seen it in years! Good choice for spooky season!

That was a great re-watch! This film is such a specific tone/vibe. Yes, there is some cheese here and there, but as far as ushering in the new era of superhero storytelling, this movie did a lot of heavy lifting, in my opinion. Also, I just noticed: "Spare me the Uncle Tom routine" is a ridiculously loaded line that I had forgotten about. While I cannot say that the movie really "earns" the points for including that kind of theming, it definitely hints at it in a way that isn't intrusive/distracting. He's a "child of two worlds", like Spock, a deaf person with a cochlear implant, or any biracial character/human being. The potential for telling interesting stories about those kinds of characters will always be there. The so-called "strengths" and "weaknesses" are open for endless speculation and introspection. Thanks for the awesome video!
