Whew yeah, what a first episode, it is extremely rare that I get this invested and feel so much in just the first episode. This is gonna be one hell of a ride I'm sure, I think we are looking at something special here. You, me, and Takopi seemed to have the same reaction to "it's not so bad now." The juxtaposition of our two main characters is so well done and really adds to the experience. Looking forward to the rest of this while not at all being ready for it.... Glad you are reacting to this, can be hard to watch with this subject matter, but damn it's so good. For no particular reason, gonna put this here - hope you get the chance to watch/react to March Comes in like a Lion some day. For no particular reason.

haha march comes in like a lion is actually super high up on my watchlist. its been something i've wanted to check out for a long time. feels like the absolute perfect piece of emotional/dramatic media i need in my life lmao

I can attest that is an accurate assessment lol. Obviously this summer season is way to stacked, but hopefully one day it wins a poll or you make an executive decision heh

Yeah, not to defends Marina, but it's clearly that, for a long time now, her dad might have an affair with Shizuka's mom, making her life a home a living hell too, and with the constent yelling between her parents, she clearly understand what happen and blame Shizuka's mom, but since she can do nothing against that, all her anger is reported on the only target she can have, Shizuka... I just want to clap for the writing of this episode and this last minutes, that make a flip on Marina's character from simple bully, to victime herself. I didn't plan to watch and almost forgoten that this come this season, but I know that the manga is a one shot and then the anime will be very short. I didn't read it, just a few chapters that have already been in this episodes, but I might predict that this show is more about how children react to incompetent adult than anything. Shizuka, Marina, the boy wearing glasses and even Takopi, are child that have no guidance from adulte it seems, only seeing their bad side or/and being ignored by them, not a very good environement for any of them...

Slightly misleading OP with bits of ominous hints ! The manga was disturbing for me, but lets see if the voiced & animated version goes....! I'm glad you decided to react to this :)

I remember feeling a chill go up my spine when she asked to borrow the ribbon. Every FIBER of my BEING was screaming for Takopi to NOT GIVE IT TO HER, and my stomach dropped when they did

The fact that the studio behind this is pretty new and small makes a lotta sense. For one, they probably don't approach projects like bigger studios, who need to pump out god knows how many projects in a season AND have a bunch of reference animations they can draw from to save time and budget. Enishiya is probably building a lot of these animations from scratch, which would take more time no doubt, but also allows them more flexibility to try weird things. Plus, they normally do music videos + commercials, both of which DEMAND eye-catchiness That being said, if they drop the ball after EP 1 like the Uzumaki anime did, we riot
