Just when I thought I couldn’t love this game anymore… We get to part 3.

That Dom and Marcus scene THO! 😭 I’m not crying, you’re crying.

What an experience, what an absolute pleasure. This is one of those games that reminded me of a time when gaming is all I wanted to do. I’ve not felt that magic in a long time.

This is why we play, have the hobby that we do, to experience a single player experience like this!

My absolute game of the year, hands down.

The stuff about Dom's wife is very much spoiler territory, but since you're gonna cover at least Gears 2 and 3, you won't have to wait long to get your answers

Readers digest version for gears one. I know I’m not gonna go over every little thing, but this is just the general leading up to gears 2 Dom come get you out of prison 14 years after E day. Says Hoffman pardons everyone. You meet at the Square. They send you to find Alpha for the resonator. Carmine gets killed by a sniper. You meet up with alpha by running into Cole train. You meet Baird. Shortly after that, Lieutenant Kim gets killed by raam. Marcus gets promoted to Sergeant. You go through a refinery down to the depths, set off the sonic device, but it didn’t work so then you end up having to go to Marcus’s dad’s house and had the computers there to find the rest of the tunnels. Then you hightail it over to the train while being chased by a brumak. And then yes, the end of the first game ends with you killing raam on the train and then the train falls off a bridge and the bomb goes off and kills a bunch of stuff. After the big explosion, you hear the voice of a woman saying they don’t understand why we wage this war. But they’ll continue to fight until they win where they die. And they’re not dead yet. And then the camera moves over and you realize that the voice you’ve been hearing this entire time is the locust queen and she appears to be human. She flies off on whatever she was riding and then credits. Sidenote. On the original 360 release a good chunk of act five which was the. Brumak fight was cut from the original release. It was then added back in for the PC release and then also ultimate and now reloaded also have it. Otherwise act five felt incredibly short compared to the rest of them. During the mission to go to the immtion factory to plant the device, Dom mentioned he knew some of the stranded people because he was looking for someone but that’s how they ended up getting the junker at the gas station.

Not many people mention how good music is in this game. I could listen to main menu theme for hours.

"Those monsters stole my babies" Fucked me up bad and I dont have kids haha. His voice cracking just tore my heart out. Honestly even just the stray lines of "How have they destroyed everywhere we go to" sting the longer you play the game. Ive never felt so sad for a City I knew for 2 days but it really feels like its dying as the story progresses. A master Class for me in the here there and back again idea. Congrats on finishing up Eday Im sure you can see why I was so eager to see you get to the end of this one. It will linger with you for a few days for sure. Just for some extra triva or lore to help with some questions you had. - Your Steve Jablonsky notes that you picked up are because funnily enough the OST has notes of the OG ost, Made by Steve Jablonsky from gears 2 to 3! You're gonna love the title drop of 2. - Marcus and his father have a strained relationship due to his father being the "Too important and intelligent to make time for my son". And for other lore reasons not spoiling just yet. - Sylvia and Benedito were almost 3 and 5 and died on Eday, they sunk into an Emergence hole that opened under the apartment they were staying at. Maria survived due to being out of Ephyra. She and Dom were going to meet at the station to start their getaway with Dom leaving the military. -Dom does stay with Maria post Eday however the damage the locust left with her losing her Kids and her parents in one day caused her to break mentally. She runs away from home roughly 4 years into the Locust war. Dom at the time of gears 1 has been looking for 10 years. Sera years, so close to 14 earth years. - Zander Carmine, Father of Anthony Carmine you saw in gears 1. Hes the guy with the jammed gun that gets his head blown off. - If you want to go further into Marcus's relationship with Carlos, and How he and Dom work through the secret of his death, I strongly recommend Aspho fields. If you think hearing the footnotes from marcus is sad, reading the pages just gets harder the longer it goes on. - Marcus was trained by Anyas mother, She knew Marcus before E day but was very much in her mothers shadow, very quiet. Even with the age Gears 2 is a ride, And honestly gears 3 still visually holds up with me. Its just stylized and polished enough to where im always surprised how natural it looks for a game from 15 years ago. Beautiful narratives in both games. Cant wait to see more!
