Haven't seen this episode in 10 years but remember it being like a movie. Glad I have off work today. There's a great 20 minute documentary on Youtube about the making of this episode if anyone is interested.

I loved how this one broke the trend of episode 9 being the major "climax" episode of each season. Thought we would get filler episode, and instead turned out to be one of the biggest battle sequences of the series.

Hella has cleaned her crystal ball.

Jon's sword is Valyrian steel which can kill the White Walkers, but how to make it has been lost. Valyrian steel weapons are highly prized and passed down from generation to generation. Remember the dagger used by the assassin who tried to kill Bran Stark. It originally belonged to Littlefinger. You will see this dagger again.

Oh yeah, ground breaking TV for the time... Congrats on having the day off, here's to Memorial Day for our USA pals, too

TippedDuke

Hella is so funny. After proclaiming that Tywin slept with Tyrion's whore and being corrected by Chi, she secretly says whore again with a snarky look. Good stuff!

Just some clarification here because it can be confusing. Most of the dead are not White Walkers. The only White Walkers were the ones on horses that can only be killed by dragon glass or valaryan steel. The rest of the dead, skeletons and zombies are raised by the Night King, who is the leader of the White Walkers. He was the guy at the end of the episode. The books have more terms for them, but sticking to the show terms, the hierarchy is the Night King -> White Walkers -> the army of the dead.

Andres Spivey

One of my favorite episodes of the entire GoT. I always thought it was funny how they changed the look (face) of the Night King from this episode to the 8th season Night King.

One important distinction. The undead army attacking everyone during the battle are not White walkers. They're called wights. The White Walkers are the ones on horses, the freaky long haired guy who Jon Snow killed, and the guy with horns who lifted up his arms at the end. It's confusing because 'wight' and 'White' are homophones (phonetically the same) But you are correct that they are, basically, "the lord commanders" of the undead.

Any chance you all can put together your show and movie collections so we can easily watch past reactions? Greatly appreciated

Jon Snows sword is made from Valyrian steel, the strongest metal in the game of thrones world. Its know for being able to fight white walkers and withstand their weapons. Dragonglass can hurt them as well but it's a rock so you cant make a sword from it.

Stefan Williams

IMO Joffrey is a baby compared to that demon Ramsay

Henry N.

I think the actor who played the White Walker who dies in this episode ended up playing the Night King in Seasons 6-8

Click on collections tab above for that.

You ladies are so clever. It was so clear when you saw the mother putting her children on board of The boat that she wasn't going to make it. You two figured that out right away. Tormund is such a good character. Tormund and Jon are becoming the Tyrion and Bron of the North.😅 When it comes down to who's worse, Joffrey or Ramsay, Ramsay wins hands down. That was an awesome reaction, as always, ladies.💜

Thanks for continuing with this series. The last few seasons get pretty intense. Also, I think Hela looks just like Khaleesi.

Henry N.

Ramsay is far more evil. Joffrey is a silly child psychopath - extremely weak in character. His entire persona is petty revenge and posturing as a strong king (which everyone sees through). Ramsey is a psychopath but cunning, calculated, and manipulative. And similar to real life psychopaths, he's able to put on a performance/facade whenever he wants. More importantly he's somehow much more sadistic.

Stefan Williams

exactly. nail on the head! perfect explanation

Igor

i don't think anyone called them "wights" in the show, only in the books, so perhaps it's just easier to call them The Army of the Dead to create less confusion

Igor

just for clarity - those zombie-looking enemies are the "Dead" or "The Army of the Dead", and "White Walkers" are just the bright looking scary guys sitting on horses (including the one killed by Jon Snow, and the one with the horns). the one with the horns who raised his hands and raised the new dead into his army is called "The Night King", he is the general of White Walkers, their leader. this was unknown till this episode, but in addition to Dragonglass, White Walkers can also be killed by Valyrian Steel! that is a very rare material, and there are only a couple of Valyrian Steel weapons (swords, daggers..) in the world. Jon Snow's sword is a Valyrian Steel sword, given to him by Jeor Mormont, the previous Lord Commander. it's funny that both Jon and the White Walker were surprised when Jon's sword was able to stop the Walker's sword xD Jon used that confusion and finished him! this is considered one of the best episodes of the show in general :) great reaction!

I like the way Chi says "Yeah"

Now we know who the real enemies are, let's just hope that Jon Snow will be able to bring all the kingdoms together to defeat them. Jon has the knowledge and ability with his sword to be successful against such a powerful enemy. There's something very interesting about the name Jon Snow, Jon was given to him by Ned Stark after his friend and mentor, Lord Jon Arryn Lord of the Vale. Snow is the customary surname of noble bastards born or raised in the north. I think "Jon Snow" is meant to bring to mind the rhyming name "John Doe" John Doe is a catch-all name given to men whose name is either unknown or must be withheld for legal reasons. Is Jon Snow really who he seems to be? Thank you I really enjoy watching reactions.

Piranther

The skeletons and more freshly living dead are called Wights, the ones with long white hair that shatter opponent's swords are White Walkers

BluePanda

55:22 despite the show mentioning Valerian Steel like 100 times, they somehow thought his sword was dragon glass, nice It's fun watching this with them - but they do tend to throw out dozens of guesses trying to figure out what is about to happen, and it comes at the expense of paying attention to the actual scene. They miss the nuances of the moment by constantly guessing and talking over each other. Still, enjoying the GoT ride
