Thank you for the reaction. One of the best episodes ever made. The actor who played Dyatlov was pretty good.

Early drop, got free time, what a great start of the day

MatthewJ

I can't wait to watch this. Thank you both for taking this journey (I'd love to see Tien and Lan react to Chernobyl as well.

Love unexpected early drops. i just finished cooking a late dinner too!

The containment structure was built to last 100 years. Due to the conflict in Ukraine, the containment structure was damaged. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed the structure had lost its primary safety functions, including its confinement capability and ability to safely dismantle the underlying sarcophagus. What a wonderful world we live in.

A documentary I previously suggested is called Woman In Motion, I'm sure you will love it.

Many similarities between the Soviet Union and present-day Vietnam. No independent judiciary. No press freedom. I'm guessing you guys can't discuss that.

Worldwide, approximately 440 commercial nuclear reactors are in operation (as of 2025); an additional 70–80 reactors are under construction. One or two are located in Vietnam (Ninh Thuan).Known cases involving measurable releases (selected, internationally recognized) — a total of 9 major accidents with significant releases: Windscale/UK (1957) Kyshtym/Mayak (1957) – reprocessing plant, major release SL-1/USA (1961) – minor release, fatal consequences Lucens/Switzerland (1969) Three Mile Island/USA (1979) – minor release Saint‑Laurent/France (1980) – release documented Chernobyl/Ukraine (1986) – very large release (INES 7) Fukushima Daiichi/Japan (2011) – major release (INES 7) Other reported incidents at reprocessing or research facilities (e.g., Sellafield/UK repeatedly, Marcoule/France 2011) that resulted in locally measurable releases. But we have also had nuclear bombs since 1945. To date (historically, up to 2026), there have been a total of 2,121 nuclear tests worldwide—including approximately 520 atmospheric tests (such as above-ground and underwater tests) and around 1,352 underground tests.

This Series was Soooo Good. I'd hadn't even heard of it until the Munchies reacted to it. Excellent choice, Thank you There's a Limited Series (8 Episodes) called [The Days] about the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor Incident in 2011. I can't say it's even half as good as Chernobyl, but it was very informative if anyone is interested, check it out ~

16:05 Roose Bolton (Game of Thrones) what's up bro?

bob

One of the best shows I've ever seen, thank you movie munchies :)

chris brown

I just realised the prosecutor at the trial was Lord Bolton in Game of Thrones.

The radiation will last 24,000 years, twenty-four thousand.

Hello Munchies! The final episode already. Let's end this journey into hell. Euh Chi don't worry. even if the show was made by both American and British, they were quite realistic for what I read and Know about the USSR's governement and how the KGB was rulling behinf the scene. this is not bad faith about Russia and comunism for once. And the ending show you it wasn't even exagerated ....31 official dead that's completly crazy. Very cute connection between Chi and Katie (with the "scarf".) people crazy like that, we wish for more of them ! 😉 it feel good laughing before the show. "he's like my cat!" 🤣 poor cat...😉 "Kids don't do that at home!" yes Kids,, don't have a nuclear powerplant at home !!🤣 But, did you know, the "Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab" was a "toy" sold for children in 1950's in the US . It was like a chemist lab for children with URANIUM, a real Geiger counter (to mesure the roetgen level), 2 books to learned them everything and all that you need to make real nuclear reaction !!!! 😳 The U.S. government helped selling it by putting on the box that any uranium find by children in the nature and given to the governement (because they lack some for their nuclear industry) will be rewarded with money !! 😵 I swear this is true. (but to be honest, we had also a lot of "everyday object" with radium (which is also radioactive) used everywhere... even in toothpaste.... So don't worry. with radiation, we are already f*ck from a long time before Chernobyl... And Look for the Lake Karatchaï (In Russia too...). the most radioactive place in the world. the soviet buried all of their nuclear waste from the reactor next to it in it between 1951 and 1960. after, the lake become to dry out... lacking water to nullify radiation... they put cement to stop the radiation to get out. But even today, you can't stay one hour without being condemned to death by radiation... Yes, mankind is very good to deal with nuclear (sarcasm).... Chernobyl is just one amongst a lot of catastrophic event that mankind deal with some level of succees (if we can called it like that...🤯😥). the only good thing being "we get better with it and it happen less". When mankind is playing God, it blow to his face with huge effect. (let"s see where the next one will happen...yes I'm pessimist on this one.) Damn , when was the last time Chi was so angry to someone as such as she want to put a gun on his head like that! she often said that laughing, but angry that much !? Although, the more it goes, the more she's funny with that. But seriously, he deserved a bullet in the head. not only because Dyatlov is an assh*les and liar (jail would have been enough for that), but because of what his action resulted in. Now I understand why he didn't find anythin in my research about Legasov's speach in the tribunal. it could even be invented by the scenarist. but he did work for improving safety and better nuclear power. so it may not be completly invented either. Dam the final diaporama was hitting hard. Chernobyl is nowhere near to be liveable again for centuries if not millenia. despite the nature healing... If it can gave you hope about Legasov : His daughter fought for his legacy. On 20 September 1996, Russian president Boris Yeltsin posthumously conferred on Legasov the honorary title of Hero of the Russian Federation, the country's highest honorary title, for the "courage and heroism" he had in his investigation of the disaster. And Boris Shcherbina said of him: "Valery was too great, I loved him more than all the people I knew, he gave all of himself to work, to Chernobyl." Real quote. Rest In Peace Legasov, you earn it. To end this journey in hell. Thanks for making us discovering it. it was an interresting and "wonderfull" (if I should say that) journey with you. I learned a lot too (both in the show alongside you and by looking for intel for you). really Thanks a lot, Movie Munchies. Have a beautifull day!

Brian Tetrick

Another short HBO series that's really good and based on actual events is Generation Kill. It's about U.S. Marines in Iraq in 2003. Coincidentally, one of the main characters is played by the son of the actor that played Boris Shcherbina in Chernobyl.

Every time Chi and Katie take a sip of there drink I can not help thinking of the 2000 movie " Erin Brockovich " with Julia Roberts and hope you all get to watch it one day which is also a true story. Julia Roberts has won many many awards but she actually has only 1 Oscar and it was for this one and she deserved it. This one is more on the cooperate side as governments and company's leave us all in the dark no matter the fcukin the cost !!! Great reactions to this mini series and so well worth watching it again with you !!!

lee eames

There is a series called 'The Terror' which was produced by Ridley Scott which have some of the same actors, It's really good.

Saints_Madness

well there goes the conclusion of Chernobyl mini series. All great things have to come to an end and even though I've seen it before it was nice to watch it again with you 2 ladies reaction to it. It still intense like when I first watched it. Now, have to wait to see what other new uploads your going to do. Can't keep up with the reaction videos. Coming to this platform is a nice past time to rewatch films I already seen.

Chris Kodama

Chi and Katie - Since you both enjoyed this mini-series that is based on a real event, there is a movie that you might also like called K-19: The Widowmaker (2002). It tells the story of a Russian nuclear submarine that also suffered an accident with it's nuclear reactor and how the crew dealt with it. Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson star in it.

mundanelotus

I'm so glad you both got to watch this amazing show! I hope you'll add "The Bear" as a future show poll option

chris brown

Great reaction as always to a great episode of a great series. Two other series about real events are From the earth to the Moon (1998) which is about Nasa's Apollo missions, and 37 Days (2014) which is about the build up to WW1

Patrick

Incredible reaction Chi and Katie 🔥 was so good to watch such a well made mini series again and see you both learn about an incredibly important part of human history. I'm always especially moved by the breakdown of the real footage and people and how brave they all were for their part in averting complete disaster. Really looking forward to whatever we have next for Saturday releases!

Mario

Shogun, Narcos are cool historical-based shows

Edward Lewis

If Katie wants to watch more shows like this she should watch Band Of Brothers. I think that was the first reaction I saw for this channel with Hela and Chi.

such a heavy and dark show, those final title words are so simple but so perfect, so much suffering and sacrifice to save millions
