I think Hwajin got the ledger from the well on that day when the King and Queen were disguised, walking among commoners. Which means the ledger wasn't there on the night the King was in the well anymore. That moment when Hwajin visited but no one was home and she checked the well might have been a memory she recalled while looking at that ledger. Also, did they say at some point what info that ledger holds? Was the Queen's father keeping it hidden as a reassurance (or leverage, maybe even) against Byeong-in's father? 🤔 And I get now why you previously told me you would love to hear my thoughts on the King falling in love with the Queen as the story progresses. My thoughts are exactly the same as yours at this point—the King is falling in love with Bonghwan's personality. So, I am not sure how all that romance will end. 🤷‍♀️ One of the theories I have is that maybe Bonghwan stays in the Queen's body and somehow frees the Queen's soul to enter his body in the future. So-Yong never wanted to be the Queen—she wanted to be herself, and never enjoyed this life she was "bred" for, really. However, Bonghwan is quite enjoying the royal life... so there's that. But it can end many ways, and I believe we won't know until the last episode. 🤷‍♀️🤔 P.S. Sorry for the quite long comment.
