Fun Fact on the chainsaw lancer: the added complications don't stop with the gun itself. According to the official design schematics, the magazines have to also be custom designed to have a groove between the two stacks of bullets for the chain to pass through.

I'm a little surprised that Nick, as the self proclaimed Gears lore lover, wasn't really on point when it came to details; like saying that your play as the Queen's daughter in 4 when Kait is actually the granddaughter. Are the COG's Pendulum Wars enemies shown in the games? (Implies that they're part of the Stranded in the cities, but we've never been to a UIR city in game.) Are there any call back characters in E-Day? (Doesn't mention Tai.) I kind of wish he'd been able to defend the series a little better. The Gears lore isn't really even it's strong feature. As Yahtzee says, most of it isn't shown in the game. I think the series strength was in its atmosphere and the lore implied by the environments. The great and unique architecture of the destroyed cities, the unique weapons and equipment, the monstrous enemies, the great graphics (for the time), and the desperate gritty blood soaked atmosphere were what made Gears stand out, at least in the original trilogy. ('Destroyed Beauty', I think, is what Epic and Bleszinski called it.) Nothing else quite feels like that first Gears, especially not at the time it released. That's why it keeps getting rereleased and it's why E-Day seems to be most inspired by it. They're trying to recapture that lightning in a bottle. But yes, the characters and story are pretty simple, which Yahtzee bounces off of, although I think there are some genuinely emotional moments in the original trilogy.
