Oh LOOK! So it is possible for JYP to make the teasers consistant with what you get when the album drops oifhdoishaioh funny that, it could be so simple.

Anyway, this was a phenomenal experience. There were definitely some songs I didn't enjoy as much but the quality level was above and beyond. I already said as much on my community so I don't need to say much else here.

The showcase in vocal and mature approach was 10/10. This reminded me of listening to Jennie's RUBY Album. You know when it's just MUSIC and it's so beautifully familiar but produced with such depth and richness? EXPENSIVE.

I've been so pleasantly surprised by Twice with this album! Like are you kidding?!?! As someone who's seen their trajectory since their debut I've been begging and pleading for their mature era and this feels exactly like that! The vocality and tones throughout are just *chefs kiss*, especially after years of them staying in that soft pop bubble and forcing that nasality past what is natural for them.

Jihyo really shone on this album and I enjoyed most of the songs. That being said, I’m so tired of these demo-length EPs, like two minute songs for such an experienced, established group is diabolical.

Heyy I finally got some money yawlll😂 but this album is great. I think its my second fave after Ready To Be. And Mars is THAT gurl, just wish that Jeongyeon got a “We are alive”😭 The albums a solid 7/10 Also your rant during GOAT had me cackling🤣

Finally got around to listening to this album. Jihyo and Jeongyeon did their big one. I think I remember Jihyo recently mentioned getting vocal lessons, and it shows! Imagine being 10+ years in your career and still showing improvements. I think it is safe to say that JYP/Twice have mapped out a blueprint for how to transition into a more mature sound in a way that isn't jarring, while having the guts to stick with it. (Side note: I would dare say even better than SM did for SNSD. I always think of the You Think/Lion Heart double title track situation. All of the pre-releases were hinting at a more mature direction. Then they caved and only promoted Lion Heart after a few You Think stages.) And yes, the production eats! Even if I didn't love the song overall, there was always something in the production that stood out. Also, love a Danity Kane Lemonade shout-out! I was one of the 10 people streaming it when it first came out. I see people mentioning other Ciara songs. The one that came to mind for me when listening to This is For was 1,2 Step (specifically the chorus). It almost feels like the same sample was used for the pew-pew-pew sound (idk how else to describe it ahjdkjaa). As much as people play with Ciara, she really did carve out an identifiable sound/genre for herself.

just checked bc i thought the writing on Mars felt familiar, only for two of the writers to be kamille and perrie. as a mixer from day 1 i just KNEW there was something sfdgfhgjhgkjh. perrie writing on it also explains that crazy belt

Yessss it was sooo Ciara coded and true she did. Her and Jazzy Fe had good chemistry and I agree. Much more solid that what SM did with SNSD for real!

also - Taneisha Jackson, one of the writers on Jaehyun's Roses, also wrote on Right Hand Girl!! and MNEK wrote on Dat Ahh Dat Ooh which would be why it EATSSs

This was such a great album and I'm glad it was, especially after the previous 2 Korean projects being really underwhelming. You're right that the title didn't feel short, maybe because of the outro? Honestly it just makes me think of how identity should've been longer again. Listening through these albums with you, it really is clear that this is probably their strongest vocal performance in an album so far. 10 years and still improving. Personally I didn't think there was a single bad song on this album, sure some of them are really not for me, but you can still tell just how well made they are. In terms of you saying that some of these songs don't really feel like twice, I think I can somewhat understand what you mean. What I will say is that in their concert performances they're really able to sell the songs well, specifically in the case of dat ahh dat ooh and battitude. Though, to an extent its kind of what you'd expect considering their experience. Goat is such an underrated track. I wasn't sure what to expect since neither of the main vocal trio are on it, but Mina, Dahyun and Chaeyoungs voices just blended so well together. My biggest gripe is probably that there isn't more Korean. Idk how to explain but there's something about singing in Korean that just sounds so pleasant. Still though atleast with the english I'm easily able to sing along to most tracks after a few listens without butchering the Korean language (cringy lyrics aside 💀) Really enjoyed your reaction and it was so nice to see just how engaged with the music you were throughout.
