Painting 4 is a layered mountain scene. Each mountain range is worked on its own using water and taking it away to focus on water control. The first one is the trickiest because we try to have a range of colors blending together to create the warm sunny spot. Utilize lots of paper towel or rags during this project to help with your water control. I can't wait to see how you do with this one! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Paper: arches 140 lb cotton 9X12" paper that I've cut into 3X3" pieces, giving me 12 pieces per page.

Paint: For this project I am using a split primary palette- cad yellow deep, lemon yellow, cad red, magenta, ultramarine blue, cerulean, indigo and sap green. The colors I'm using today are - cad yellow, magenta, ultramarine blue, cerulean, and indigo

Brushes: round 4 and 10 - Princeton brand.

Lovely. This almost has an oriental feel to it.

Julie Patterson

Can't wait to try this one in the morning. 3am here, and the ding woke me up so I just had to watch great vid...!

Leslie Young

Oh I'm veeeeerrry excited about this one.

Heather R Hare

Is that still your Winsor & Newton Cerulean Blue??? It looks very different - much brighter and more intense

Morgan Powis

ooh i'm excited for this one!!!

Lina

is your magenta opera rose for Windsor Newton ?

Katydid

This is why I chose you over other excellent mini offers. You pack a much larger painting into a 3x3 and it's never too much. This is really pretty.

Lindsay

How wonderful! —Our Gulf Islands look like this.

Felicia

Ooh how pretty! I’m excited for this one! I think I can do it! Staying positive! 🥰

Erin T

I'm pretty sure it's permanent rose. The opera rose is almost neon!

Luella

Love the painting and your nails!

Jeanette

That looks beautiful ❤️

Maura

In her limited palette she has the quin magenta, but I do see the word Rose written on that little card she puts at the start so I'm a bit confused too. My quin magenta (Daler Rowney)matches her colors pretty closely,

Lina

I have quin magenta on mine but it doest look the same 😅 mine is a bit more red and more dull compared to her swatch card. I had a bit of Permanent Rose and it doest match either , mine is bright and more pink … Maybe it’s just the photo that looks different 😃

Lina

you are right thank you . definitely not opera rose

Debi

Wow!! Love this one. ❤️

Marcela

I can’t wait to try it tomorrow. Just beautiful!!! Just looking at it , It takes me to a different world in my imagination 😊

When she put the supply list out she said that she was going to use paints that were more accessible to all (financially).

Wardee

Yes, I'd like to know this, too! My Daniel Smith is not as bright. I like Kristin's much better! I've been adding a tiny bit of Phthalo Blue to Cerulean to give it a bump.

Nadia

This one was fun

OK so I do this a lot. I’m looking at this mountain painting which I just love and it’s gotta be Colorado. I don’t know where else it would be. I guess 1 million other places but anyway all I can see in my minds eye are my San Diego Mountains, which are not mountains their hills. So I keep ending up with these paintings with half mountains and half hills lol it looks ridiculous so I’m gonna try one more time and then I’m just gonna post the darn thing!

Heather R Hare

I’m using W&N Cerulean Blue, and it’s not as bright as this. And I too like Kristin’s better lol

Erin

Ok but this reference photo of Tahoma is gorgeous. She’s so photogenic 😮‍💨 Did you take it?

Sandy Manning

That is so beautiful with the various layers of colour so effective and the tiny sun spot really finished it so well

TraceyP

Perfect timing. I'm in Chile, and have been having a really hard time capturing the layered mountains.

Lindsay

With this one, I benefited from other group members reporting how hard it is to resist the tendency for the mountains to get jaggedy and become a sort of multi-coloured EKG lol.

helen

Love love love this!!!

Linda

I struggled with the magenta in Cad yellow… the hold that misty feel I did manage with just the yellow… but overal… only painting since two weeks, pretty happy ☺️
